Abstract

COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the public sector in India, leading to a range of challenges that have required swift and effective responses. This abstract provides an overview of the challenges faced by the public sector in India in responding to the pandemic, and the lessons learned from the experience. The challenges faced by the public sector in India have included a shortage of medical supplies, equipment and hospital beds, as well as limited testing capacity and inadequate health infrastructure. Additionally, India's large population and the spread of the virus in densely populated urban areas have created additional challenges. Despite these challenges, the public sector has responded with a range of measures, including the establishment of COVID-19 hospitals and quarantine facilities, the provision of financial assistance to those affected by the pandemic, and the development of innovative solutions such as telemedicine and online consultation services. The experience of the COVID-19 pandemic has also highlighted a range of lessons for the public sector in India. These include the need for greater investment in healthcare infrastructure, the importance of effective communication and coordination between different levels of government, and the need for proactive planning and preparation for future pandemics. Overall, the response of the public sector in India to the COVID-19 pandemic has been a complex and challenging process, but it has also provided important lessons and insights for the future.

Abstract

This case study examines the integration of Sociocultural Theory (SCT) into an online course and its impact on learning outcomes and sense of community among senior high school students. Data were collected through pre- and post-course surveys, semi-structured interviews with the instructor and a subset of five students, and observations of the course discussions. Thematic analysis revealed four major themes: increased engagement and participation, improved learning outcomes, enhanced sense of community, and challenges and limitations. The findings suggest that integrating SCT principles into online instruction can lead to increased engagement and participation, improved learning outcomes, and enhanced sense of community among learners. The study also highlights some challenges and limitations, such as the need for clear guidelines and support for both instructors and students, and the importance of addressing the digital divide and ensuring access to technology and resources. This study contributes to the growing body of research on the application of SCT to online instruction and provides insights that can inform the development of effective online instructional practices that support learners' social and cultural experiences. The implications of this study are relevant for educators and instructional designers who seek to enhance the quality of online instruction and promote effective and inclusive learning environments. Future research in this area may further explore the impact of SCT on other aspects of online learning, such as motivation, self-regulated learning, and intercultural communication. Additionally, research can investigate the potential of integrating SCT into other educational contexts, such as blended or hybrid learning environments.

Furthermore, the students stress the importance of wise selection and modification of icebreaker activities to ensure that they have a positive impact on students and promote engagement in the classroom. The students suggest that icebreakers should be used at the beginning of each class to help energize and motivate students. Additionally, the students believe that clear expectations for student behavior are critical in creating a safe and respectful classroom environment. They stress the need to minimize threats or distractions that could interrupt the flow of learning. This study highlights the importance of creating a comfortable and respectful classroom environment through the use of icebreaker activities. The findings suggest that icebreakers can be modified to better promote engagement and participation in the classroom, ultimately leading to a positive and productive learning environment for students.

Abstract

Existentialism is a philosophical movement that has had a significant impact on our understanding of knowledge, truth, morality, values, and religion. This research aims to explore the influence of existentialism on these fundamental aspects of human existence. The research methodology involved an extensive review of literature from prominent existentialist philosopher, Friedrich Nietzsche. The findings of this research highlight that existentialism challenges the traditional view of objective truth and knowledge, emphasizing the subjective and personal experience of individuals. Furthermore, existentialism posits that individuals must create their own values and meaning in life, rather than relying on external sources such as religion or society. In terms of morality, existentialism emphasizes the individual's responsibility for their actions, as opposed to being governed by universal ethical principles. The limitations of this research include the focus on Western existentialist philosophy, neglecting other cultural and philosophical traditions. The contribution of this research is that it sheds light on the influence of existentialism on various aspects of human existence and highlights the significance of subjective experience and personal responsibility. The practical implication of this research is that it provides insight into the importance of individualism and personal agency in various domains, such as education, mental health, and politics. The novelty of this research lies in the comprehensive exploration of existentialism's influence on various aspects of human existence, providing a unique perspective on these topics.

Abstract

The outbreak of a deadly virus called Corona has prompted schools and colleges to switch instruction from face-to-face to online learning (Masha'al et al., 2020). Even with no records nor archives of online teaching-learning, imperative steps were implemented to counterbalance the educational institutions brought by the global outbreak (Joe et al., 2022). Because of its versatility, young learners across the world mainly in more developed countries opted for an online learning (Handang, 2022). Normal classrooms have been replaced by e-classrooms quickly, implying that students and teachers have adjusted. According to Carey (2020) the challenges present are not how online teaching and learning methodologies can give excellent education rather on how schools can adjust to online learning in giving quality education. Digital learning reflects a vastly distinct educational setting where learners already can study from a variety of online materials in addition to those accessible in the classroom (Saldariega et al., 2022).
