Jurnal Ekonomi dan Pembangunan Indonesia (JEPI) has been published since 2000 by the Department of Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Indonesia. The journal has been accredited B as a national academic journal based on the Decree of the Director General for Higher Education Accreditation Number 43/DIKTI/Kep/2008. In 2015, it has got re-accreditation B based on Decree of the Director General for Higher Education Accreditation Number 1/E/KPT/2015 on 21 September 2015 for period 2015-2019. Then, JEPI has Reakreditasi Tetap di Peringkat 2 based on Decree of the Minister of Research and Technology/Head of National Research and Innovation Agency Number 148/M/KPT/2020 on 3 August 2020 for period 2020-2025. The journal published biannual in January and July. JEPI focuses on issues pertaining empirical investigation on Indonesian economy. The journal aims to publish and disseminate high quality publication at national level through blind review process. The articles published in JEPI are expected to cover wide range topics in economics and employed standard economics analysis tools focusing on Indonesian economy. The topic encompasses various fields of economics, including but not limited to monetary, fiscal, environment and natural resource, industrial organization, regional and urban economics, and international and trade. It is expected for JEPI to facilitate students, lecturers and researchers to contribute significantly in understanding Indonesian economy.

Abstract

The paper identifies which districts in Kalimantan that become the growth poles and whether there has been spatial autocorrelation in 55 districts during 2000–2012. This study also explores which economic sectors will be leading sectors. The social-economic data were collected for 55 districts using quantitative methods, in particular: typology of Regent/City, spatial autocorrelation, overlay analysis, and structural transformation. The study finds: (1) there are 4 cities as the growth pole; (2) the economics growth concentration concentrated geographically in the eastern and western; (3) the mining sector is a leading and competitive sector; and (4) structural transformation does not occur in all districts.

Abstract

Contagion effect or domino effect which causes spreading economic crisis from one country to another also occurred in Indonesia in 1997 and 2008. The e ect was identified by Exchange Market Pressure (EMP) index which measures economic pressure faced by a country on the exchange market through foreign exchange rate changes and foreign exchange reserves. The results of EMP analysis in Indonesia and four ASEAN countries using VAR method show that EMP contribution of four ASEAN countries in 2008 was larger than that of 1997. Moreover, the 1997 crisis in Indonesia spread from Thailand, while the 2008 crisis spread from Singapore.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to get value-BLI Better Life Index as a measure of multidimensional development in Indonesia, and to analyze the relationship between BLI with the human development index HDI, regional development index IPR, and economic growth. BLI formation method through three stages: normalization, weighting, and aggregation. The results show that Indonesia’s BLI is in the lower-middle class. Province of Jakarta, East Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Riau and South Sumatra with the highest value of BLI. BLI size has a positive and significant correlation with IPM and IPR compiled by the BPS-Statistics Indonesia. However, BLI was a negative and significant correlation with economic growth.

Abstract

The goal of the study is to analyze the pattern and the change of urban household energy consumption and their determinant factors in Indonesia period of 2008 and 2011 using SUSENAS data of household budget survey. The concept of energy ladder and fuel stacking (multi fuel) are used to make a model of household energy consumption. The result of study shows that total energy consumption was increase in the period of 2008 and 2011. Coefficient of income elasticity toward both of modern and traditional energy consumption are positive, it means that there is rising consumption of energy along with the rising income. Household income is the main determinant factor of energy used by household besides other non-economic factors.

Abstract

This paper is aimed to investigate the level of tax morale on Indonesia college students regarding fulfillment of tax obligations as an indication of their characteristics as future taxpayers and the factors behind their tax morale. This research exercised a survey method with respondents from the University of Indonesia chosen with a random sampling technique. The results indicated that the level of tax morale on Indonesia college students is relatively good. As for the variables that influenced the tax morale are gender, religious observance, and the perception of the importance of the government.

Abstract

Traffic accident ranks the ninth largest of the cause of death in Indonesia. The most of researches studying Indonesia on traffic accidents were only blaming on human, motor vehicles, and environment as main culprits, not incorporating economic factors into the models. This study aims to analyze the impact of real gasoline prices on traffic accident in Indonesia and the factors of influence them. This research employs time series data from 1970 to 2013 with OLS analysis world crude oil prices as instrument variable. The estimator results show that real price of gasoline and the policy of usage of motorcycle light insignificant on traffic accident. Meanwhile, real GDP and asphalt roads significantly decrease the traffic accident. However, motorcycles significantly increase the traffic accident.

Abstract

Robust measurement of interest rates speed of adjustment to monetary policy changes is very important to obtain a comprehensive understanding on the monetary transmission process and the effectiveness of monetary policy. The speed of adjustment are determined by number of frictions that interfere with the transmission of monetary policy. We measure Indonesia interest rate pass-through which have distinct characteristics in terms of banking competition, segmented banking market and concentrated structure. Interest rate pass-through is measured by using Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) and Mean Adjusted Lags (MAL). This paper shows the interest rate adjustment did take a relatively long time.
