Abstract

Google Classroom is a new application that used as an online learning media especially in English teaching learning. The objective of this research is to find out the students’ perception on the use of Google Classroom in English teaching learning at eleventh grade of Science Program at MAN 1 Kota Cirebon. Descriptive qualitative was used as the design of this research and the instrument of this research were questionnaire and interview, those were used to describe the students’ perception on the use of Google Classroom as a media in English teaching and learning. The research subject was 28 students eleventh grade of Science Program at MAN 1 Kota Cirebon. Based on the research finding and discussion, it can be concluded that students’ perception in using Google Classroom as an online learning media have positive respond, 92,9 percent of the students were agree that Google Classroom was easy to use and have good performance to used Google Classroom on English teaching and learning process because Google Classroom allow the students to save and retrieve and submit tasks or assignment, information and announcement, attendance list through Google Classroom, and students enthusiastic and interested in English teaching and learning process. In conclusion, Google Classroom is one of the best online learning media in English teaching and learning process especially pandemic period. Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine student learning outcomes on vocabulary mastery inmaterial parts of the body by applying blended learning model. This study used a quantitative method of independent sample t test with an experimental design. The population in this study amounted to 24 students in two groups, namely the experimental group which was treated with the learning model blended learning and the control group was given thetreatment face-to-face learning. The data used in this study came from the results of the pre-test and post-test, then analyzed by t-test. After the research data was collected and analyzed, the results showed that compared to the control group, the students in the experimental group had a significantly better understanding. This showed that the use of learning methods blended learning can effectively improve student learning outcomes towards mastery ofvocabulary parts of the body. Abstract

In COVID-19 19 Pandemic, teachers have to be able to find the suitable learning methods to be used in teaching the students, especially in teaching listening skill. One of the contexts of methods is the blended learning method. Blended learning is the combination between traditional (face-to-face) learning and online learning. The main problem of the recent study is what is the teachers’ perception in using a blended learning to teach listening skill in EFL classroom. So, the research aimed at finding the teachers’ perception, their weaknesses and strengths in using blended learning method to teach listening skill in EFL classroom. This study employs a descriptive qualitative as a method. The participants of the study were two English teachers at one of vocational school in Cirebon. The data were collected through semi-structured interview to gain relevant data. The result of the research showed that in teachers’ perception; Teaching listening using online learning methods and blended learning is something new for both teachers and students. Several obstacles occurred, not only from difficulties in adapting to technology, several obstacles also emerged from various sides such as from student interest in learning and inadequate facilities for teachers. However, the use of blended learning is very helpful for teachers in teaching, especially in teaching listening during this pandemic, even though it is not optimal. Abstract

Teacher talk is important in classroom interaction because it can help students improve their comprehension of the learning materials and encourage them to be more active during the learning process. This research was aimed to analyze the categories of talk employed by the lecturer in the classroom interaction in English teaching and learning process at chemistry education in one private university in Cirebon based the framework FIACS (Flander’s Interaction Analysis Categories System). The lecturer at chemistry education in one private university in Cirebon was chosen as participant of this research. In this research, the researchers used qualitative descriptive method in collecting the data. The instruments of this research were observation as well video recording, observation sheet and structure interview. The findings reveals that the most dominant type used by the participant is asking question with 143 occurrences (35.57%), followed by Lecturing category with 98 occurrences (24.50%), accept or use idea of students category with 60 occurrences (15.00%), Giving directions category with 55 occurrences (13.25%), accept feelings category with 30 occurrences (7.50%), Praise or encourages category with 14 occurrences (3.50%), and the last is criticizing or justifying authority with 2 occurrences (0,50%) as the lowest category. According to the interview results, the participants employ those teachers talk categories in the teaching and learning interaction in the classroom to make the lesson more interactive, impressing, and relevant for everyone in the classroom, not just the participant, but also the students. Abstract

Songs are one of the effective teaching resources to improve students' speaking in English, the use of songs in learning English has many benefits, therefore, this study aims to determine students' perceptions of learning English through songs and to determine student responses to their abilities after learn to speak through songs. This research was conducted in one of the private vocational schools in the city of Cirebon. This research uses qualitative research with case study design. The data source of this research is using questionnaire and interview. To analyze the data, it is done through three stages, namely reduction, data display and verification. Then triangulation of data and sources is used to check the validity of a data. The results of this study illustrate that the use of songs is very effective as a learning resource to improve speaking English through songs. students give a positive perception of learning through songs that have been taught by their teachers in the classroom in the teaching and learning process they are more active and enjoy, become more enthusiastic in learning languages English, by learning through this song makes it easier for them to get more new vocabulary not only that students also know how to pronounce it properly and correctly, learning through this song students can use it in class or even outside class. Abstract

Currently, information and communication technology (ICT) are becoming indispensable tool for learning, particularly computer multimedia and internet resources. One of the ICT learning models is e-learning. This paper investigates perception of the use of ICT by pre-service teachers from Indonesia who teach at one junior high school in Philippines. There were 2 teachers who participated in the study, they were required to complete the answer several open-ended questions. There were some problems revealed which were related to skills, knowledge and managing issues such as training, preparation and its effective use. Abstract

The covid-19 pandemic has brought significant changes in every aspect of human life, including education. Indonesian Education and Culture Minister, Mr. Nadiem Anwar Makarim ordered all students including university students to research from home. Thus, the use of e-learning is the best choice in order that teaching and learning process run as well. This research aimed at knowing the teachers’ perception on e-learning at Vocational High School. The data was collected through interview. The participants were 3 English teachers selected by non-probability sampling which purposive sampling technique. The researcher used descriptive qualitative as a design method because it was considered as an appropriate approach as a type of research. The result of this research was presented descriptively in order to reveal the teachers' perception towards e-learning comprehensively. The research found that mostly the teachers gave good perception about e-learning. They improved their teaching through e-learning and got a new experience of the new media applied in teaching activity. Whereas, some teachers also gave perception that e-learning has obstacles that bad network, and the capacity of the application used in e-learning. Keywords: Teachers’ perception; E-learning

Abstract

As one of the learning sources, textbooks play an important role in English teaching and learning process to facilitate students in knowing and obtaining teaching materials easily. Currently, the Ministry of Education and Culture of Indonesian revised the 2013 curriculum which is students are required to think deeply to develop their cognitive competence and to emphasize their critical thinking. The purpose of this study is to get a distribution of the Higher-order thinking skills on KTSP textbook that is still used as a reference many schools the book’s title is Developing English Competencies for grade X. The study focuses on analysing the questions using question word based on the revised Bloom’s Taxonomy. The researcher used content analysis research design. Moreover, the researcher used indicator references of cognitive higher-order thinking skills in the language classroom and the table checklist used. The result of the distribution on HOTS and LOTS are as follow. There are 7 questions from 64 questions word or 10,9% (HOTS) there are 57 questions from 64 question word or 89,1% (LOTS). Hence, the distribution of HOTS reading exercises is lower than the distribution of LOTS reading exercises in Developing English Competencies Textbook. Abstract

Teacher's role is one of the important components in teaching and learning activities. In the learning process, teachers are required to be professional in order to educate and support the success of students’ learning. During the Covid-19 pandemic, both teachers and students are required to carry out online learning. Every teacher must carry out his duties in educating and teaching students without face-to-face meeting. This phenomenon will be a challenge for all teachers, including English teachers. During online learning, English teachers are required to develop information technology ability and be creative in making learning materials, in order to convey the material well and interestingly. Therefore, it is paramount to reveal the ability of Information Technology of the English teachers in order to make online learning successful and the obstacle in creating materials for online learning. This research uses the descriptive-qualitative method where data collection was done by giving questionnaires and also interviews so as to provide clear information. The object of this research were the English teachers at MAN 1 Kota Cirebon. The results obtained from the research shows that the English teachers at MAN 1 Kota Cirebon had a fairly good ability to make online learning successful, in terms of operating Information Technology devices, providing solutions for students who have difficulties, providing motivation, and also making materials for online learning. The obstacle that was faced by the teacher was in terms of a bad internet network so that it does not support the online learning process.
