Abstract

Economic growth is an indicator of a country’s economic activity. It can also be used to analyze the country’s economic development. However, in reality, Indonesia’s economic growth is still slower than its four ASEAN peer countries, i.e. Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines. In terms of internet usage, those countries also have a far higher percentage of internet users. Using the simultaneous model with Two-Stage Least Squares (2SLS), this research attempts to estimate the impact of information and communication technology development on Indonesia’s economic growth and to analyze factors affecting the development of information and communication technology in the country. This research uses the 2012, 2015, and 2019 data of Statistics Indonesia, as well as the 2012-2020 interval data of the same source. This study finds that the development of information and communication technology significantly affects Indonesia’s economic growth and that factors affecting the development of information and communication technology in Indonesia are education index and export. Based on the findings above, the government and related parties are suggested to boost educational equity and intensify international trade that can enhance the use of technology in Indonesia.

Abstract

Tourism continues to experience growth and diversification to become one of the largest and fastest growing economic sectors in the world. The tourism industry is also increasingly playing an important role in the economy in many countries, including Indonesia. Therefore, this research aims to determine the causality relationship between tourism and economic growth in Indonesia using VAR Panel Analysis. By using panel data from 10 provinces in Indonesia in the period of 2009-2018, the VAR Panel analysis found that tourism and economic growth in Indonesia have a two-way causal relationship. This study aims to analyze the effect of the independent variables consisting of the minimum wage, human development index, and per capita income on the dependent variable inclusive economic growth. The method used is panel data regression analysis. The results showed that the minimum wage variable had a negative and significant effect on inclusive economic growth, while the human development index and per capita income variables had a positive and significant effect on inclusive economic growth

Abstract

Nickel is a mineral that has become popular in recent years as the electric vehicle industry has boomed. Indonesia is a country with abundant resources and reserves of raw nickel ore. This study aims to determine the export competitiveness of Indonesian processed nickel products against their exporters and the factors that influence exports of Indonesian processed nickel products. This research is included in quantitative research using secondary data. The analysis technique used is the Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) analysis method and panel regression analysis. The results show that in the Nickel Processed Product Commodity, Indonesia has quite good competitiveness against competing countries. In addition, the competitiveness variable, the Gross Domestic Product per capita of the destination country, and the exchange rate of the destination country have a significant positive effect on Indonesia's exports of processed nickel products. The findings of this study imply that Indonesia needs to maintain and increase its current competitiveness for nickel-processed product commodities and needs to pay attention to factors such as competitiveness, Gross Domestic Product per capita of destination countries, and destination country exchange rates to optimize Indonesia's export activities.
