Abstract

I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport is one of the airports with the largest amount of traffic in Indonesia. This of course has an impact on the number of communication frequencies between Pilots and Air Traffic Controllers (ATC), especially during peak hours. The ATC at Perum LPPNPI Denpasar Branch often experience problems when communicating with BIFA's Visual Flight Rules (VFR) Traffic. The obstacle experienced was the poor quality of the BIFA Pilot's voice which was heard on the ATC radio, so that the ATC had difficulty receiving the information conveyed by the BIFA Pilot. This of course has an impact on the smooth communication of ATC with all pilots at the Denpasar Branch of Perum LPPNPI, thus disrupting the operational operation of air traffic. This study aims to provide suggestions for reviewing these problems, in order to improve the safety and smoothness of air traffic control at Perum LPPNPI Denpasar Branch.

Abstract

Raja Haji Fisabilillah International Airport is an international airport located in Tanjungpinang City. The Air Traffic Control Unit at Raja Haji Fisabilillah is divided into two units, namely the Aerodrome Control Tower and Approach Control Surveillance. This study aims to reduce the Load Of Coordination ATC. The unavailability of the AWOS Display facility in the Approach Control Surveillance room resulted in a lot of coordination by the ATC on duty when bad weather occurred, thus making the pilots wait for meteorological information updates. In fact, the ATC that manages the Approach Control Surveillance often coordinates in advance with the ATC that manages the Aerodrome Control Tower to ask about the weather at that time even though they have already received weather information from the Meteorology Unit. Various obstacles that often arise in the world of aviation are inseparable from the lack of existing facilities, including facilities in the air traffic staff workspace where these facilities are used to carry out air traffic services, as well as facilities on the runway. air traffic control area that functions to ensure the safety and smooth operation of flights.

Abstract

As a supporting airport for surrounding airports, Tjilik Riwut Airport must improve and maximize its air traffic services. One of the services given is the provision of clearance, one of which contains information on the estimated time to approach or expected approach time (EAT) where this information is the estimated time when the aircraft must leave the holding fix to start the approach to aircraft that are experiencing delays due to having a close arrival time, where the provision of this information has not been included in the clearance given to aircraft that will land at Tjilik Riwut Airport. This situation is considered to be disruptive to air traffic services and lack of efficiency in conducting air traffic services. Therefore, this research produces a calculation of the average time interval (ATI) using a quantitative descriptive method where the calculation of ATI affects the determination of the expected approach time. By determining the ATI, air traffic controllers can determine the EAT for aircraft that have an estimated time of arrival that is close to each other. In addition, EAT is very useful for determining a pilot approach and also helps in an emergency situation such as communication failure, etc.

Abstract

The aviation communication system is very important for aviation, especially for pilots and air traffic controllers. The communication system for air traffic controllers and pilots must be adequate in order to create good communication and prevent misunderstandings between pilots and air traffic controllers. Meanwhile, the communication system at the Bali Radar APP/TMA unit cannot cover all of its areas of responsibility and is feared to affect the quality of air traffic services. After coordinating with the technical unit, the authors suggest installing a device that can extend a radio frequency signal called VHF ER (extender range), and specifically for the northern area of Mount Agung which is usually passed by VFR aircraft where the area is a class G airspace, the authors suggest creating a frequency called TIBA (Traffic Information Broadcast by Aircraft).

Abstract

In carrying out the task of air traffic service, ATC at Perum LPPNPI Denpasar Branch is required to have a license, rating, and health certificate. The validity period of an ATC rating is 6 (six) months and must be renewed by conducting a rating exam again. Currently at Perum LPNPI Denpasar Branch, the rating exam for ATC personnel is still carried out offline which requires a lot of time and preparation. This research was conducted with the aim of designing an online-based rating exam website for ATC personnel at Perum LPPNPI Denapasar Branch. The research method used is research and development.

Abstract

I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport is one of the busiest airports in Indonesia, serving approximately 430 traffic per day. Apart from providing services for flights to and from Bali, it also provides flight services to and from Lombok and Banyuwangi. This of course adds to the workload of ATC Bali, especially during peak hours. On the other hand, usually flights arriving from the east are served by TMA East and flights arriving from the west are served by TMA West, currently all flights are only served by TMA West. So during peak hours there was often an increase in the load of communication, which had caused a breakdown of separation and breakdown of coordination, involving VFR aircraft and IFR aircraft in the jurisdiction of Bali APP/TMA. This research was conducted with the aim of minimizing the potential for breakdown of separation and breakdown of coordination due to an increase in ATC Bali's load of communication in line with the increasing amount of traffic. The method used is descriptive qualitative. From this study it was found that breakdown of separation and breakdown of coordination can occur due to increased workload and load of communication of an ATC. Therefore, it is necessary to review the provision of air traffic services at the Denpasar Branch of Perum LPPNPI and at the Banyuwangi Sub-Branch Office.

Abstract

Kualanamu Medan Airport provides air traffic services, there are aerodome control services, approach control services, and area control services by using existing technological developments. One of them is flight navigation equipment that used to be conventional, such as Radar, now starting to switch to Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B). Based on the results of existing observations, it is known that the ADS-B equipment at Perum LPPNPI Medan Airport has not yet been certified and standardized, so there are still frequent differences in the information provided between the ADS-B and the Radar. The research method used is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. While the technique of collecting data by mean of interviews and observation. The advice that the author can give is a short-term solution in the form of reviewing the use of the ADS-B tool at Perum LPPNPI Medan because there is no such certification and a long-term solution, namely updating the Air Traffic Control System (ATC System) in Perum LPPNPI Medan to help use the ADS-B tool in the future.

Abstract

This research was conducted at Hang Nadim International Airport, Batam, to investigate the handling of wildlife hazards that impact flight operations and safety. The research methodology used was qualitative descriptive. Data collection techniques included documentation study and direct field observations from December 2020 to March 2021. The research findings indicated that the presence of wildlife activities at Hang Nadim International Airport can compromise the safety objectives of Air Traffic Service (ATS). Instances of aircraft experiencing delays during takeoff and landing were identified, along with frequent discoveries of bird carcasses on the runway that could become Foreign Object Debris (FOD), thereby affecting the smooth flow of air traffic. Special attention is required to manage wildlife hazards in order to enhance flight operations and safety at Hang Nadim International Airport. Additionally, effective coordination and structured management systems are needed, including the establishment of a dedicated unit for wildlife prevention, the procurement of bird repellent devices for prevention purposes, surveillance and control of bird disturbances in the vicinity of the airport, regular tree felling and land clearance around the airport to prevent wildlife nesting and foraging, and infrastructure improvements to eliminate potential entry points for wildlife into the manouvering and movement areas.

Abstract

Aviation safety is an important part in the world of aviation. One form of aviation safety is preventive and mitigating actions in the event of unwanted things such as a wildlife hazard. Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Sepinggan Airport, Balikpapan is an airport that has a strategic geographical position, namely the presence of forests and the sea in the south and west areas. This geographical location is the main trigger for the entry of wild animals and bird attacks at the Sepinggan aerodrome, Balikpapan. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The conclusion that can be drawn from this research is the need for short-term and long-term actions such as checking by personnel who have received special training, coordinating with related units, and compiling and producing report data according to a predetermined format.

Abstract

In the activity of providing air traffic services, the Pontianak Approach Control Surveillance unit has implemented ATC automation. One of them is the coordination carried out by ATC personnel between the APP unit and the Tower unit. The coordination uses a system called free text. The free text system can facilitate the ATC coordination process, especially between ATC personnel from the APP unit and the Pontianak Branch of the Perum LPPNPI Tower unit, because it can reduce load of communication. However, the SOP of Perum LPPNPI Pontianak Branch has not yet found a procedure regarding standardization of words to coordinate using this free text system. This study aims to form a standardization of writing words in the free text system between Pontianak Approach Control Surveillance and Pontianak Tower. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The results of this study suggest that there is a need for standardization of words to coordinate using the free text system between Tower units and APP units at Perum LPPNPI Pontianak Branch.
