Abstract

The portraits of women in literary works are very diverse. The reader has an important role  in interpreting issues and fenomena in the work through a response. To see the reader response, a literary reception approach is used, an approach that involves the reader as the main object. This study aims to reveal intended reader perceptions of Mrs. Bennet's character in Jane Austen's novel Pride and Prejudice by using literary reception theory in a synchronous method. A qualitative research method was applied by collecting primary data from participants in the form of responses from the intended reader in the different  period, using Jauss's literary reception approach. The results show that the readers' responses to Mrs. Bennet's character, whether as a woman, wife, or mother, were quite diverse. It also shows that gender, religion, environment, some particular traditions, space, and time are things that greatly influence the reader's response. Then it shows the intended reader's reception towards Mrs. Bennet's character is shaped by experience, the horizon of expectation, aesthetic distance, and the space and time of the reader in the different period.

Abstract

The aim of the study is to analyze the Indonesian film Menjelang Magrib released in 2022 using critical genre theory. The movie is potentially a social thriller, where the antagonist is not an individual but rather society. This qualitative research adopts a descriptive approach and will gather data through observation methods with heuristic and hermeneutic readings of selected character dialogues relevant to the topic of analysis. The findings indicate that the society in the film indeed serves as the antagonist, as it discriminates against a person with mental health problems by shackling her and acting selfishly towards the environment. The movie sheds light on the issue of discrimination and environmental degradation and depicts society as the cause of these problems. The use of critical genre theory provides a framework for understanding the societal elements at play in the film and helps to analyze the film's message and purpose. Overall, the study supports the notion that Menjelang Magrib can be analyzed as a social thriller, where society serves as the antagonist.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine whether or not the use of anagram technique can improve the students' English vocabulary mastery in science class A SMA Negeri 1 Paguyaman eleventh-grade students. This study used a pre-experimental design with one group pre-test and post-test, with the difference between the pre-test and post-test score indicating the effects of treatments. The data sample consisted of eleventh grade students from Science class A at SMA Negeri 1 Paguyaman. Twenty-five students were chosen as the sample by the researcher. The data was collected by the researcher using an instrument test that included a pre- and post-test. The T-test is being used to analyze the data in this study. The pre-test mean score of the students is (45.6). By the end of the study, the students' mean score is (75.2). The t-test result tcount 2.747 was higher than ttable 1.711. The outcome indicates that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) has been accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) has been rejected. As a result, it is possible to conclude that the anagram technique can help students improve their vocabulary mastery.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kesalahan fonologi pada unggahan akun YouTube Sekretariat Presiden. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif. Sumber data yang digunakan adalah unggahan akun YouTube Sekretariat Presiden yang berjudul “Pidato Presiden Joko Widodo pada KTT COPS26, 1 November 2021". Data pada penelitian ini adalah tuturan yang mengalami kesalahan atau penyimpangan bunyi oleh Presiden Republik Indonesia, Joko Widodo. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik dokumentasi, simak, dan  catat. Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini adalah (1) mengumpulkan sampel kesalahan, (2) mengidentifikasi dan mengklasifikisi kesalahan, (3) menjelaskan kesalahan, serta (4) mengevaluasi kesalahan.

Abstract

Nowadays, the issue of polygamy and homewrecker was an idea. It was found in two platforms such as the soap operas Suara Hati Istri and social reality in real life. Communal Gorontalo was the best prototype regarding these two issues. The motives, either polygamy or homewrecker in operas and in reality, were different. Soap operas put forward the basic trend and modernism as the basis, while the real life of the Gorontalo community proposed religion and legal awareness in its dynamics. Looking for the most fundamental thing connecting the two areas, the author used feminism theory as a comparative study. This study asked three questions such as (1) how was the reflection of polygamy and homewrecker in the Suara Hati Istri serial?; (2) what was the reflection of polygamy and homewrecker in the reality of Gorontalo society?; (3) what were the ideological concepts of polygamy and homewrecker in the series of Suara Hati Istri and in the reality of the Gorontalo community? Feminism succeeded found the fundamental reason for the similarities in the plurality of motives between soap operas and reality. It was toxic masculinity and misogynist.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Pembelajaran Tari Tidi Lo O’ Ayabu Di SMK N 1 Suwawa Sebagai Bentuk Objek Pemajuan Kebudayaan di Daerah kawasan Teluk Tomini. Objek Budaya dalam UU Pemajuan Kebudayaan  berdasarkan Undang-Undang (UU) Pemajuan Kebudayaan, tindakan yang dilakukan terhadap objek pemajuan kebudayaan yakni inventarisasi, pengamanan, pemeliharaan, dan penyelamatan. Sepuluh objek pemajuan kebudayaan tersebut adalah tradisi lisan, manuskrip, adat istiadat, permainan rakyat, olahraga tradisional, pengetahuan tradisional, teknologi tradisional, seni, bahasa, dan ritus. Seni dalam hal ini yakni seni tari Tidi lo o’ayabu yaitu tari tradisonal yang tergolong dalam tarian klasik. Tari klasik adalah tari yang telah ada sejak zaman kerajaan-kerajaan yang ada di Indonesia. Tari klasik berkembang sejak abad ke 17 dan 18 dikalangan istana, yaitu dari raja-raja dan kaum bangsawan, yang telah memiliki kristalisasi artistik yang tinggi dan telah menempu perjalanan sejarah yang panjang hingga memiliki nilai tradisonal. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMK N 1 Suwawa Kecamatan Suwawa Kabupaten Bone Bolango. Pemilihan lokasi dalam penelitian ini karena sekolah ini sudah menerapkan kurikulum 2013 yang membelajarkan mata pelajaran seni budaya khususnya seni tari. Tujuan pembelajaran dalam bidang objek pemajuan kebudayaan daerah di bidang seni khususnya seni tariuntuk meningkatkan apresiasi bagi siswa SMK terhadap seni dan budaya daerah setempat. Menumbuhkan rasa dan nilai estetis dalam jiwa peserta didik di sekolah. Memupuk kecintaan peserta didik terhadap tari tradisional dan latar belakang penciptaannya di masa lampau. Melalui Pembelajaran ini siswa dapat mengetahui dan memiliki wawasan tentang objek pemajuan kebudayaan daerah. Siswa mampu mengidentifikasi kebudayaan yang menjadi objek pemajuan kebudayaan daerah di segala bidang khususnya di bidang seni. Melalui pembelajaran ini siswa diharapkan memiliki dorongan didalam strategi pemajuan kebudayaan daerah siswa mampu terlibat langsung di dalam proses pemajuan kebudayaan daerah di bidang seni khususnya seni. Kata kunci: Objek Pemajuan Kebudayaan Daerah, Tidi Lo O’ Ayabu.

Abstract

This study explores Bugis language preservation in Biau Subdistrict, Gorontalo, Indonesia, amidst interethnic marriages and cultural assimilation. Amid Indonesia's multilingual context, local languages face marginalization due to scientific advancement and assimilation. Employing qualitative methods, the study examines language attitudes and preservation strategies of second and third-generation Bugis speakers. Second-generation speakers actively maintain Bugis through rituals and interactions, while the third-generation experiences language shift due to intermarriage. The study emphasizes targeted revitalization efforts considering intergenerational dynamics and offers insights for preserving indigenous languages. It identifies and highlights the roles of technology and government policies in addressing the Bugis community's challenges that contributes to broader discussions on language preservation
