Abstract

A good library is a library that has been managed perfectly in accordance with library science and applies the latest technology, and is utilized by the library to its full potential. All information sought by users can already be found quickly and precisely. Because the library has provided all sources of information, and all collections have been digitalized perfectly. To realize the digitization library, it is very necessary that experts in the technology are needed. Librarians who always take part in the library are highly demanded for their role in realizing digital libraries.

Abstract

The library of the Baiturrahman Mosque in Balai Panjang, West Sumatra, is a place for the surrounding community to search for information and exchange information and learn in the fields of religion, social and culture. The collection is used to discuss and dialogue in sharing knowledge through several activities in "kembali ke surau" tradition in this mosque. Baiturrahman Mosque provides collections related to religious knowledge and Minangkabau customs, but in very limited quantities. This research uses the literature study method. Baiturrahman mosque library that already exist today visible only library functions as a venue. Where the mosque library is only used as a place for the transfer of knowledge in "kembali ke surau" tradition which was carried out at the Baiturrahman Mosque Balai Panjang West Sumatra.

Abstract

The virtual reference service in the university library is one of the library services that has a very important function in meeting user needs. In order to meet the information needs of users that the reference service librarian has provided virtual tools as access points for users in finding the information they need, including through chatt as a virtual tool to answer specific or simple questions, giving ebook / digital reading material, recommends the web as a relevant resource as needed and can also provide an online bibliography as a resource. This article tries to describe the reference service in the Andalas University library in Padang today. Virtual reference services for visitors as information society in the postmo era then become a trend service that is very important to note, not only in terms of users in utilizing services, but also the attention of libraries in focusing the function of virtual reference services that are actually for users in college libraries.

Abstract

Libraries are services, so there is no library without services.The service here means the user of library services. This kind of work activity is often referred to as "circulation",which implies circulating library collections to users. In library science, circulation is often known as borrowing. However, the notion of circulation services actually includes all forms of recording activities related to utilization, the use of library collections quickly and timely for the benefit of users of library services. The purpose of the library to provide services to the readers is so that library materials that have been collected and processed as well as possible can reach the readers.The existence of information technology is clearly that there is a part of work that can be facilitated with help or technology. This activity is called library automation. The use of information technology can provide easy access for users and improve library services. One of them is circulation service that uses the OPAC system. OPAC is an acronym for online catalog access for the public. Users can access remotely via the web or LAN or directly through a computer that is provided specifically for online catalogs in a library.

Abstract

This study aims to explain and to know the competencies, efforts, challenges and oppurtunities of librarian for enconnter the profeccion information tecnology. The type of study data is qualitative with literature review as data sources. The literature that has been reviewed then analyzed based on the subject matter. The Ressuts of this study indicate that librarians (in various types of library institutons) schould improve their competences and conduct the library transpormations to distruption prepation. Librarians need to increase their profeccional comptence in terms of library e-resouces management, managerial leadhersip, digital literacy, and risearch literacy. These competecies as the librarian asset at transform the library and realize the knowlegdeable community. In adittion. Librarians must look at disruption issue and phenomena as positive challenges and opportunities for professional carrer development n the future. As the recomedation, librarian need to keep up of informations tecnology, nomely knowlegde strengthening, connectivity bulding, and oriented to the comunnity needs. This is done sho thad librarians are ready to acounter the disruption and library services provided to users.

Abstract

Library material damage in the library occurs due to various factors including factors characteristic of library materials, enviromental factors and biota factors. This research was conducted with the aim to find out the factors causing damage to library materials at UIN Raden Fatah Palembang library and find solutions to overcome them. This research is a qualitative descriptive study, using verbal data si words, sentences and images. Sources of data in this study are person, place and paper. The person who is the source of data in this study is the coordinator in the field of circulation services. Place is the central library of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang. Whreas paper is library documents such as damaged data racks adn book colellection. Data collection techniques used in this study were obseravtion, interviews and documentation. The result of this study indicate that damage to shelves and library collections is caused by termites. For damaged collections removed from the shelves and repaired according to the level of damage if possible and replace wooden shelves with iron shelves. While the termites are eradicated by injection and spraying cabinets and termite nests with anti-terminate chemical into the holes that have been drilled on the floor around the library.

Abstract

Collection Development is a number of activities related to the determination and coordination of selection policies, assessing user needs, collection usage studies, collection evaluations, collection needs, library material selection, collection maintenance planning and weeding collection of collection resources, and library collections. Principles of Collection Development consist of the objectives of collection development, collection development policies. Library collections are all library materials that are collected, processed, and stored to be presented to the public to meet the user's information needs. Library material procurement consists of determining the type of library material, selection of library materials, selection aids, procurement of library materials and finally doing weeding collections to remove collections from the shelves because they are not in demand, too many copies, there is a recent edition, and the collection is irrelevant. The decision was made based on consideration of the updating, suitability, and physical condition of the document.

Abstract

Institutional Repository is a tool or media to store and publish scientific works of Civitas in an institution, such as Papers, theses, journal articles, books, proceedings, teaching materials, and other scientific works, which can be accessed online and utilized by the society. In the early stages of the university repository's development, the things that need to be done are benchmarking, vision and missions assignment, and purpose of the repository, making supporting rules such as SOP, and preparation of facilities and infrastructures. Repository information processing activities can be initiated by digitizing collections or scientific-intellectual work already been in the library, submission of scientific works in digital form, as well as self-uploads. Once the system is running, it is necessary to strive for the action that the repository collection can still be accessed online. Such actions are by conducting maintenance (infrastructures and networking), network and server security, and conducting various socialization activities (promotion). The more visitor who access the repository link, cite or utilize the repository, it will increase the citation and webometric ranking of an institution.
