Abstract

This study aimed to design and evaluate the effectiveness of "Argeo Math," a novel learning media application, in improving mathematical problem-solving abilities in elementary school students. Employing a research and development (R&D) methodology with a limited trial stage, the research examined the feasibility, practicality, and impact of Argeo Math on student performance. Positive validation results affirmed the potential of Argeo Math. Material experts awarded the application a score of 55 (84.6%), while media experts gave it an overall score of 81 (90%). The effectiveness testing demonstrated significant differences between classes using Argeo Math and those using traditional methods. Students utilizing Argeo Math achieved an average score of 78.03%, while those in the control group scored 11.36%. This represents a substantial improvement of 66.67% in problem-solving skills. Additionally, the practicality assessment categorized Argeo Math as "highly practical," with a score of 76.03%. The novelty of this research lies in the development and evaluation of Argeo Math, a unique application specifically designed to enhance elementary students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. The positive findings suggest that Argeo Math holds significant potential as a valuable tool for improving mathematical performance and fostering a deeper understanding of problem-solving strategies in elementary education

Abstract

This research aims to analyze journalism extracurricular programs that can develop elementary school student's ability to write news texts. The research used descriptive qualitative methods with a case study strategy. The informants for this research were advisors, class teachers, and students.  The results of the research showed that in the planning there is a school principal as the program compiler, the journalism extracurricular advisor have to master 5W+1H and create subject designs; the implementation of the journalism extracurricular program was done using the 5W+1H technique, and the observe, imitate, and modifications technique; the impact of implementing extracurricular journalism programs on students' writing skills increases as shown in their paragraph writing; The obstacles experienced were support from parents, learning motivation, student characteristics; and the solution used is to evaluate student progress at the end of the learning process via the WhatsApp group and accommodate learning styles.. The implications of the results of this research include: 1) school principals can make journalism extracurricular programs into mandatory programs and parents are involved in journalistic activities 2) teachers have to have journalistic skills, and 3) students have to write fluently or participate in journalistic activities more enthusiastically.

Abstract

This investigation examines the efficacy of the Flipped Learning Model, supplemented with Nearpod media, on the academic outcomes of fifth-grade students in the subject of fractions. Utilising a quantitative methodology within a quasi-experimental research design, the Flipped Learning Model was deployed over three sessions. Nearpod media was employed to stimulate student engagement and enhance academic outcomes. A comparative study was conducted between students who were subjected to the Flipped Learning Model with Nearpod media (N=12) and a control group (N=12) that utilised the Direct Learning Model with image media. The analysis revealed a significant discrepancy in academic outcomes between the two groups (0.023, p < 0.05). Throughout the investigation, students who were exposed to the Flipped Learning Model with Nearpod media showed an improvement in academic outcomes (Mchange= 0.000, p < 0.05), indicating a significant influence on students' mathematical learning. The integration of the Flipped Learning Model with Nearpod media was found to be notably effective in improving students' academic outcomes (0.67, 0.03<g<0.7). This confirms that the implementation of the Flipped Learning Model with Nearpod media has a significant impact on enhancing classroom academic outcomes.

Abstract

The pervasive influence of various advertisements across multiple media platforms, promoting instant and packaged food and beverages, has contributed to the unhealthy lifestyle habits of learners. Examples include the consumption of foods or beverages detrimental to health. Non-environmentally friendly materials can also have a negative impact on the environment. Consequently, there is a need for individuals to understand and recognise the importance of consuming healthy and environmentally friendly local food. This research examined the validity of pictorial teaching materials based on the local wisdom of Indramayu, aimed at enhancing learners' eco-literacy skills. The study was conducted among fourth-grade students at Public Primary School A and B in Indramayu. The research model applied was Borg & Gall's model. The researchers validated the product based on content, language, and graphic reliability. The validation process involved three experts and two practitioners. The data validity test incorporated interviews, observations, and documentation. The results demonstrated that the content reliability was 87.50%, language validity was 89.16%, and graphic validity was 91.66%. These results indicated a category of high validity. The findings suggested that the pictorial teaching material, grounded in Indramayu local wisdom, was beneficial for further learning. Future researchers could extend this research by developing other forms of teaching materials

Abstract

The study assesses the Factors Affecting Declining Standard of Primary Education among the Community of Adamawa State, Nigeria. Education plays an important role in the development of a nation, thus, a nation cannot do without quality education. Primary education is the core of development and progress especially in modern societies. However, the quality of education that helps in ensuring the realization of the aspirations parents hold for their children has fallen below expectation. Therefore, the research investigated the major factors that contributed to the standard of primary education in Adamawa state, Nigeria; this study used Simple Random Sampling in order to ensure that the larger population is well represented. The study involved 1,966 primary schools of Adamawa state and a total of 335 respondents which comprised of 143 school-heads and 192 teachers. Data analysis was conducted using a descriptive analysis technique from the comparison of average questionnaire results based on the variables tested. In general the study indicated that there is positive relationship between school personnel and community in Adamawa state, Nigeria with 3.85 mean score. Finally, the study suggested some of the ways of improving the quality and standard of primary education in Adamawa state, Nigeria.

Abstract

The transition from Industrial era 4.0 to Society era 5.0 brings significant changes to education in Indonesia. However, technology use in elementary schools is limited, particularly in biology education, which involves observational processes. To address this, researchers developed a virtual reality-based game for teaching animal reproduction at the elementary level. The research focuses on developing and validating the virtual reality-based game learning media, using the ADDIE model. Data was collected through observations, interviews, questionnaires, and validation. Experts validated the media, and practicality tests were conducted on 5 students at Elementary school 2 Gunungsari, Boyolali. The results showed a validity level of 77.3% and a practicality level of 79.99%, indicating that the virtual reality-based game can enhance students' understanding and provide an engaging learning experience.
