Abstract

Grouper is one of fish that has an important economic value and much in demand by the public. The increasing demand for this grouper, then it can cause this type of fish will be subject to arrest, so if this thing continue, this will have a negative impact on the fish population. This study was conducted from February to June 2015 in Lhok Fish Landing Sites Peukan Bada, which includes three Teupin, namely Teupin Ujong Pancu, Lamtengoh, and Lamteh. This study aims to determine the stock grouper (Cephalopolis sonnerati) which covers the length-weight, growth, condition factor, mortality and the rate of exploitation. The primary data such as measurements of total length and weight of grouper, fish dissection. Groupers are measured during the study amounted to 133 long tail with a range of 50-400 mm. Growth coefficient (K) was 0.31 per year with asymptotic length (L∞) of 419.48 mm and the initial theoretical age (t0) amounted to -0.126 per year. Based on the length-weight relationship, it is assumed that the growth pattern grouper (Cephalopolis sonnerati) has a negative allometric, ie the length faster than the fish weight gain. Rated average condition factor is 1.2652, it indicates the fish is still small-sized / thin at the time of the study. Total mortality rate (Z) was 0.73 per year. Natural mortality (M) 0.33 per year, and the mortality rate of arrest (F) 0.40 per year, so that the exploitation rate of 0.55% is obtained. Values exploitation rate has exceeded the optimum exploitation 0.5.Keywords: Groupers, Peukan Bada, growth, mortality, exploitation.

Abstract

Research about model of peat moss water processing become drinking water based on society is used to eliminate organic matter, chemical elements which are Fe, TDS, Zn, Flurida, NO3, and NO2 and pH. This model has purpose to find the solution about the supply of drinking water properly and simply to household and society. This research is conducted in Sub District Johan Pahlawano, West Aceh, exactly in the society surrounded by peat moss water area. This is experimental research which uses model of filtering tools of  peat moss water, with the medias are sand, gravel, charcoal from coconut shell, then are filled in PVC pipe with up flow system. The samples are used 3 water samples from vary villages surrounded the circle of Teuku Umar University that contain peat moss waters, those are Cot Lawang, Rundeng and Seunebok. The research result with experimental method by Simple Plan from PVC pipe appropriates with Standard Work Of Clean Water for the parameter of Fe, TDS, Zn, Flurida, NO3, dan NO2 based on PERMENKES RI No. 907 of 2002. But for the pH, the result cannot reach that standard. So, it needs to improve the engineering model to reach the perfect result. Thus, the engineering tools can be applied in the society with water supply problem, especially in peat moss water area. However, this water result is only used to the need except as drinking water.

Abstract

Marine Macroalgae Sargassum sp is a one of macroalgae species that develop rapidly and distributed widely in the South-West Coastal of Aceh. However, marine macroalgae has not yet utilized optimally by Aceh’s community especially comercial product that give value added. This research was conducted by using marine macroalgae Sargassum sp that derived from West Aceh coastal. The measurement of antioxidant activity was undertaken by using CUPRAC (cupric ion reducing antioxidant capacity) method. The aim of this research is to explore bioactive compound to marine macroalgae Sargassum sp as antioxidant.  Sargassum sp is a brown algae that generally attached in dead coral substrate or rocky intertidal zone that influenced by low tide. The result of measurement of antioxindat activity is 180,535 µmol troloks/g dried powder. Thi is suspected that hidrocinamate acid is polyfenol groups that role as antioxidant substance becauce it possess hyrodgen atom from functional hydroxyl groups that contributed by free radical. Keywords : Macroalgae, Sargasssum sp, Antioxidant, West Aceh

Abstract

In recent decades, the utilization of mangrove ecosystem continues to increase, not only in terms of others uses, but also in terms of the utilization of mangrove trees, both traditional and commercial. Encroachment and conversion of mangrove land into farms, residential, industrial, and so on, as well as logging by people for various puposes, rsulting in disturbed mangrove ecosystems and natural habitats damaged. The role and function of mangroves is essential and accompained by increased use of destructive activity is accompanied by a decrease in mangrove area has been properly made efforts to improve the conservation and maintenance of the mangrove ecosystem. One of the efforts to improve the conversation and rehabilitation of mangrove ecosystems through the study of ecotourism. Several location on the East Coast of Aceh Province have been succesfully rehabilitated, for example, in the village of Kuala Langsa, District of West Langsa, Langsa. This study aims to asses the potential and feasibility of mangrove ecosystem for the development of ecotourism as a conservation of natural ecosystems and to plan management strategies in the area of mangrove ecotourism should be developed that is viewed from several aspects (mangrove vegetation, wildlife, facilities and infrastructure, stakeholder participation, institutional and legislation. The method used was a descriptive exploratory method with percentage and SWOT analysis. The results of the study indicated that the mangrove ecosystem in Kuala Langsa generally more prevalent types of Rhizophora mucronata, R. apiculata and Avicennia marina. Abstract

The mangroves of the coastal are of West South Aceh have included the restored vegetation of the Post-2004 earth quake and tsunami. This coastal forest was 10 ha wide and extended  about 1,5 km from the coastline. Mangrove as the habitat plays a major role in the densiy and distribution of associated organism including Geloina erosa. We reported our study on the locally-named “Totok” shellfish (G. erosa) associated with mangroves in this area. The aim of this research was to determine the correlation between mangrove density  with the density of the in habited G. erosa. This research was a survey with a random sampling technique applied to get the data of both  the density mangrove and the density of  the G. erosa. The relationship of  those two was analyzed using software SPSS v19. We found the mangroves of South West Aceh composed of a single species of Rhizophora apiculata. We found the highest density of mangrove was on the station I (7.083 ind./ha) and the lowest density wason the station V (1.033 ind/ha). We found the highest density of  G. erosa was on the station  I (10.75 ind/m2) and the lowest density is on the station V (1.66 ind/m2). We also found the distribution pattern of G. erosa were grouping caused by the space competition and food provision as a limiting factor. We found the correlation between the density of mangrove with the density of G. erosa were strongly correlated.

Abstract

Mangrove in the ex-Tsunami Area have ability to stored carbon, with existing of mangrove forest so increasing of carbon emission in natural can be diminished. Therefore, mangrove habitat is a big storage of carbon (carbon sinks). Carbon sinks or carbon dioxyde sinks have a important role as a place for storing or absorbing carbon dioxyde gases that derived from earth atmosphere. The carbon that absorbed by mangrove will stored in biomass of tree. The amount of  such tree biomass will influenced carbon stock that stored in mangrove forest. The aim of this research is to known mangrove vegetation conditions to the ex-Tsunami in the West-South of Aceh Area. The research method that used is survey method. The sampling of mangrove vegetation that undertaken by using plot sampling method. The result showed the vegetation condition of mangrove forest in the ex-Tsunami Area were dominated by Rhizopora apiculata for seeds level. The pole level were dominated by Sonneratia alba.  Carbon stock that stored in mangrove vegetation in the Ex-Tsunami Area is 36,03 tonnes/ha in the West-South of Aceh

Abstract

Fishing has contributed to an increase in the fishing economy is reasonably sufficient especially in the region of Meulaboh. The intensity of the high current arrests tend to ignore resource sustainability of fish. The increasing activity of catching fish can experience a decrease in fish stocks at rumpon, however this will negatively impact populations and patterns of growth in terms of length and weight of the fish. This research aims to analyze the frequency of long length-weight relationships, and the fish that was caught on the rumpon portable in West Aceh waters. The data collected in the form of the data length (fork length) were measured using a meter roll with a maximum length of 5 metres. Fish obtained from catches in experimental fishing for 30 trip using a capture tool output rod and assistive tools rumpon portable. The collected data is analyzed the frequency of long, long relationship of weight and length of fish caught prediction. The catch as much as 472 tail, the dominant fish caught during research on the measure of 17.5 cm. length of the tuna was first caught on the size 24.9 cm 15.5 cm kites, fish, yellow tail fish 14.7 cm and yellow 14.6 cm trevally fish. Length weight relationship mackerel krei y= 0, 0089x3,1293 R² = 0.9995, flying fish, y= 0 0068x3,1414 R² = 0.9987 yellow tail fish, y = 0, 0178x2,8971 R² = 0.9935 and trevally fish yellow y = 0, 0256x2,7779 R² = 0.9854.
