Abstract

The production of Cocoa in Indonesia is still relatively low, reached an average of 532.17 kg ha-¹, while Ivory Coast has reached 1.5 tons ha-¹ in 2013. One of the efforts to support the development of the cocoa plant is a breeding use of organic fertilizers, Vermicompost is an organic fertilizer that has a lot of nutrients and safe for plants and contains many microorganisms that needed land. While of effort to improve the performance of microorganisms in the soil by terralyt-plus. The research was conducted at the experimental farm of the Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, University of Muhammadiyah Malang with an altitude of 560 meters above sea level, which held for 3 months. Research compiled using factorial randomized design consisting of two (2) factors. The first factor is vermicompost consists of 3 levels, namely: D0 = 0g/plant; D1 = 200g/plant and D2 = 400g/ plant. The second factor is Terralyt-plus comprises 3 levels: T0 = 0 ml/polybag, T1 = 20 ml/polybag, and T2 = 40 ml/polybag continued BNJ test with a level of 5%. Vermicompost fertilizer dosage of 400g/plant with the addition of Terralyt-plus 40ml / plants is the best treatment in all parameters of the cocoa plant (Theobroma cacao L.). Results from this study are in treatment plant height, a number of leaves and total leaf area were significantly different interactions occur while the stem diameter and the amount of chlorophyll there is no real interaction.

Abstract

This research aimed to carry out the response of seed germination and seedling growth of Calina papaya to the seed soaked in coconut water. It was conducted from April to June 2017. The study comprised two designs of experiment i.e. the Completely Randomized Design for the seed germination and the Randomized Complete Block Design for the seedling growth of papaya. There were 25 treatment combinations obtained and each treatment was replicated three times. The treatment factors comprised the concentration and the duration of seed soaked in coconut water. The results showed that the seed immersion in the 80% concentration of coconut water for 8 hours had the highest growth rate and vigour index. Meanwhile, the seed immersion in the 60% concentration of coconut water for 8 hours showed the highest percentage of germination. The seed immersion for eight hours resulted in the seedling growth of papaya.

Abstract

Red onion production can be increased by fertilization. Fertilization serves to provide nutrients for plant growth. Chemical fertilizer provides a bad impact on the environment in the long term so that the application of organic fertilizer can be a recommendation. Organic fertilizers are fertilizers derived from animal matter, animal manure, human excreta, and vegetable matter (e.g. compost and crop residues). Waste mushroom logs, cow manure fertilizer, and decomposers used in this research. All of the matter in this research can be a source of nutrients for growing plants and an increase of production and yield of red onions. The objective of this research was to study the combination test between of waste mushroom logs, cow manure fertilizer, and decomposers to growth and yield of red onion. This research was arranged in a Randomized Block Design (RBD), where the main plot is cow manure fertilizer and waste mushroom log, the subplot in the form of a decomposer. The results showed that there was not interaction between cow manure fertilizer and decomposer waste on all parameters of observed growth and yield of red onion. Special decomposer real treatment of the growth of the number of leaves of plant ages 15 HST (18.98), 20 HST (20.33), 25 HST (23.47), 30 HST (25.76), and 35 HST (26.11), and plant height is 35 HST (33.21 cm). The treatment of waste mushroom logs 100% produces a relatively large number of tubers compared to others, which is 8.89 tubers.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to determine the response of the growth of red dragon fruit stem cuttings (Hylocereus polyrhizus) with the treatment of various plant extracts and dosage of goat manure. This research was conducted in experimental garden of UMM. This research was conducted from October 2017 until January 2018. The study used a randomized block design, which was repeated 3 times with 2 factors. Factor 1 is a kind of plant extract and factor 2 is the dosage of manure. Factor 1 consists of 4 level, while factor 2 that consists of 3 level. Observation parameters include: Shoots, shoot number, shoot length, root length, root number, total wet weight, shoot dry weight, wet root weight, and root dry weight. The results showed that the treatment of green bean sprout extract and dose 187.5 g / polybag showed the best result on the number of shoot and wet weight of cuttings. Treatment of green bean sprout extract showed relatively good results. Treatment of fertilizer doses of 187.5 g / polybag showed relatively good results.
