Abstract

The impact on teenagers, if they experience anemia, is that it disrupts their ability to learn, reduces their physical exercise ability and body fitness, reduces individual work capacity, reduces the body's immune function, and reduces the ability to regulate body temperature. This research aimed to analyze factors related to anemia in adolescent girls. The research method used quantitative with a cross-sectional approach. The population in the study were all 50 Adolescents who were checked for Hb in March and had moderate anemia. The sample was 44 respondents taken by purposive sampling technique. The instrument used a questionnaire to determine the length of the menstrual period, nutritional status, knowledge, and iron intake. The research used an ordinal distribution used an ordinal regression test. The research results showed that the variable length of menstruation was 0.879 with p=0.348 (> 0.05), the nutritional status variable was 0.231 with p=0.631 (>0.05), the knowledge level variable was 4.407 with p=0.021 (>0.05) and the nutritional intake variable was 11.575 with p=0.001 (<0.05). This meant that the level of knowledge and nutritional intake was related to the level of anemia. Meanwhile, the length of menstruation and nutritional status were not related to the level of anemia. For future researchers, it is expected to provide interventions related to knowledge including individual or group counseling as well as providing a healthy lunch menu program to increase iron intake in adolescents.

Abstract

There are several non-comorbid COVID-19 patients lead to mortality, but the risk factors that affect it have not been widely discussed in research. Treatment of COVID-19 patients focuses more on patients with comorbidities. This study aimed to check the effectiveness of Early Warning Scores (EWS) assessment to predict the mortality of non-comorbid COVID-19 patients. The method of the study was a case study research with a retrospective approach using secondary data, namely the patient's medical record status. This study took medical record data from 262 patients confirmed positive for non-comorbid COVID-19 who were hospitalized at Ngudi Waluyo Wlingi Hospital from July to September 2021. The multivariate data analysis used multiple linear regression tests to simultaneously test the relationship of the independent variables (age, gender, and Early warning score) to the dependent variable (mortality). The statistical analysis result showed the correlation between gender, age, and assessment with mortality, each of which has a p-value of 0.000, meaning that each of these variables has a relationship with mortality. If a simultaneous test (F test) is carried out, the p-value is 0.000, meaning that gender, age, and EWS simultaneously affect mortality. The coefficient of determination or R square of 0.773 means that gender, age, and EWS simultaneously influence mortality by 77.3%. Early Warning Scores (EWS) assessment influenced the mortality of non-comorbid COVID-19 patients. The highest contribution affecting mortality was the EWS assessment. The contribution of influence on sex and age is relatively the same.

Abstract

Breast cancer is a malignant tumor and grows in the breast tissue resulting in death. Breast cancer prevention by means of breast self-examination. This study aimed to determine the effect of video media on conscious techniques with a combination of demonstrations on the practical ability of adolescents in early detection of breast cancer. The method used a quasi-experimental design, non-equivalent control group design with a population of 279 and a sample of 40 respondents with inclusion criteria of young women, aged 16 years as students of SMA Negeri 1 Tarik Sidoarjo. The data collection measured skills in 2 groups of respondents. The experimental intervention group used videos and demonstrations, while the intervention control group used lectures and leaflets. The intervention was done in 1 day, the posttest was conducted 7 days after the intervention. The results showed that the average value of the pretest posttest of the two groups increased. The results of the statistical test paired T-Test obtained a significant value of p-value = (0.000 < 0.05) meant that there was an effect of providing video media with conscious techniques with a combination of demonstrations on the practical ability of adolescents in early detection of breast cancer. Educators should develop programs to improve skills for early detection of breast cancer, in collaboration with health workers through health promotion so that all students are aware of health.

Abstract

Adolescent mental health including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and psychosis is a serious public health challenge because it can affect fundamental aspects of human life. One effort that can be made to maintain mental health is through Counseling as an intervention to solve mental problems. This research aimed to see the effectiveness of Counseling Pojok Cerita (Po'rita) in maintaining the mental health of teenagers. The research used a pre and post-test research design with a population of class X and XI students. Before the Counseling session, mental health screening was conducted using the Self-Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ). Out of 93 respondents, 43 students exhibited symptoms of mental health problems. The sampling technique employed was purposive sampling, targeting only students with identified mental health issues. The data were analyzed using the Paired T-test. Before the Counseling, all 43 students (100%) showed symptoms of neurosis (psychological issues), 37 (86%) exhibited psychotic symptoms, and all 43 students (100%) displayed symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). After the Counseling, 19 (44%) still showed symptoms of neurosis, 17 (39%) exhibited psychotic symptoms, and 18 (42%) continued to display PTSD symptoms. There was a significant reduction in the number of students experiencing mental health problems post-counseling, with a p-value of 0.00<0.05. The Pojok Cerita (Po'rita) Counseling program is effective in maintaining the mental health of teenagers at SMA Negeri 1 Kebomas. It is recommended that the Po'rita Counseling program collaborate with school Counseling services to provide therapeutic interventions for adolescent mental health issues.

Abstract

Family caregivers of hemodialysis patients have a heavy burden based on negative experiences, long-term care hours, total physical dependence of patients, comorbid health conditions, and financial stress treatment procedures. This study design is a mixed method followed by 114 participants in the quantitative phase and eight participants in the qualitative phase. The research instrument used Zarit Burden, a demographic profile form, semi-structured interview questions, and a recorder. Data analysis used ANOVA, t-test, and thematic analysis. The results showed that most participants were 51 to 60 years old, patients' wives, college graduates, had a monthly income below ph10,000.00 and had cared for patients for 20 to 24 hours. Participants have experienced high physical and financial burdens and loss of control over life, as well as very high emotional and social burdens. Significant differences were found in the levels of emotional, social, and financial burdens when grouped by education level. Monthly income affects the level of social and financial burdens. Physical exhaustion, emotional suffering, limited social life, role conflict, financial poverty, and fear of the future are the themes of challenges in caregiving. Participants coped with their challenges by seeking help and sleep, emotional adjustment, acceptance, maintaining friendships, resisting the urge to participate in social activities, utilizing family resources, seeking financial support from politicians and government agencies, and borrowing money. The proposed stress relief support program has the potential to be an intervention to enable family care with various forms and levels of caregiving burden.
