Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) menghasilkan bahan ajar modul tematik-integratif pada tema peristiwa alam dalam peningkatan karakter tanggung jawab dan disiplin yang layak bagi peserta didik kelas I di SD N 1 Kutoarjo, Purworejo; dan (2) mengetahui keefektifan bahan ajar tematikintegratif pada tema peristiwa alam dalam peningkatan karakter tanggung jawab dan disiplin peserta didik kelas I SD N 1 Kutoarjo, Purworejo. Penelitian pengembangan ini mengacu pada langkah yang dikembangkan oleh Borg Gall. Subjek uji coba terbatas adalah delapan peserta didik kelas I SD N 1 Kutoarjo, Purworejo. Subjek uji coba lapangan terdiri dari 28 peserta didik kelas I SD N 1 Kutoarjo Purworejo. Subjek uji coba produk operasional pada kelas eksperimen sebanyak 28 peserta didik kelas I A SD N 1 Kutoarjo, Purworejo dan pada kelas kontrol sebanyak 28 peserta didik kelas I B SD N 1 Kutoarjo, Purworejo. Pengumpulan data menggunakan pedoman wawancara, lembar penilaian produk bahan ajar, lembar observasi check list guru, lembar observasi check list peserta didik, angket respon peserta didik. Teknik analisis data menggunakan independent sample t-test dengan taraf signifikansi 0,05.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bahan ajar yang dikembangkan menurut ahli materi dan ahli media berkategori “sangat baik” dengan Penerapan bahan ajar secara umum dapat terlaksana dengan kategori “baik”. Terdapat perbedaan hasil akhir antara kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen setelah menggunakan bahan ajar tematik-integratif dalam peningkatan karakter tanggung jawab dan disiplin dengan p 0,05 kemudian terjadi pula peningkatan yang signifikan dengan p = 0,0001. Kata Kunci: bahan ajar modul, tematik-integratif,karakter tanggung jawab dan disiplin DEVELOPING A THEMATIC-INTEGRATIVE LEARNING MODULE TO PROMOTE THE CHARACTER OF THE FIRST YEAR PUPILS OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Abstract: This research aimed to: (1) produce a thematic-integrative learning module on the theme of natural events to promote the character of responsibility and discipline appropriate for the first year pupils of SD N 1 Kutoarjo, Purworejo; and (2) find out the effectiveness of the thematic-integrative learning module on the theme of natural events to promote the character of responsibility and discipline appropriate for the first year pupils of SD N 1 Kutoarjo, Purworejo. This research and development referred to the research steps developed by Borg Gall. The limited try-out subjects were eight pupils of the first year of SD N 1 Kutoarjo, Purworejo. The field try-out subjects consisted of 28 pupils of the first year of SD N 1 Kutoarjo, Purworejo. The opeational try-out subjects in the experiment class were 28 pupils of the first year (Class IA) of SD N 1 Kutoarjo, Purworejo’ while the control group consisted of 28 pupils of the first year (Class IB) of the same school. The data collection instruments employed were interview guide, learning module evaluation sheet, teacher observation checklist, pupil observation checklist, and pupil questionnaire. The data were analyzed using an independent sample ttest with the significance value of 0,05. The results showed that the learning module developed were “very good,” according to the materials development expert, and the implementation of the learning materials was generally considered “good.” There was a difference in the final outcomes between the control group and the experiement group after the use of the thematic-integrative learning module to promote the characters of responsibility and discipline with the value of p 0,05 which improved to the value of p = 0,0001, in the end. Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan multimedia lectora pada pembelajaran tematik-integratif berbasis character building dan mengetahui efektivitas multimedia lectora pada pembelajaran tematik-integratif berbasis character building pada pada tema Cita-citaku Subtema Aku dan Cita-citaku bagi peserta didik kelas IV SD Muhammadiyah Bodon. Penelitian ini mengacu pada langkah yang dikembangkan oleh Borg Gall yang dikelompokkan atas empat prosedur pengembangan, yaitu eksplorasi, pengembangan draft/prototype, uji coba produk, revisi, dan validasi akhir. Subjek uji coba terbatas adalah 6 orang peserta didik kelas IV SD Muhammadiyah Subjek uji coba terbatas adalah 6 siswa kelas IV dan 1 guru SD Muhammadiyah Bodon. Subjek uji coba lapangan 20 orang peserta didik kelas IV dan 1 guru SD Muhammadiyah Bodon. Subjek uji coba produk operasional 29 siswa kelas IVB SD Muhammadiyah Bodon. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan multimedia lectora menurut ahli materi maupun ahli media terkategori “sangat baik” sehingga layak digunakan. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan terdapat efektivitas yang signifikan pada pembelajaran sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan multimedia interaktif Lectora dengan hasil signifikansi 0,0001 0,05. Kata Kunci: media pembelajaran, lectora, tematik-integratif, character building DEVELOPING LECTORA MULTIMEDIA FOR THE THEMATIC-INTEGRATIVE TEACHING AND LEARNING BASED ON CHARACTER BUILDING FOR GRADE IV STUDENTS OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Abstract: This research aimed to develop lectora multimedia for the thematic-integrative teaching and learning based on character building and to find the effetiveness of the lectora multimedia for the thematic-integrative teaching and learning based on character building on the Theme of My Ideals, Subtheme I and My Ideals for Grade IV students of SD Muhammadiyah Bodon. This research referred to the research steps developed by Borg Gall, grouped into four development procedures: exploration, draft/prototype development, product try-out, revision, and final validation. The subjects of the limited try-out were 6 students of Grade IV A and 1 teacher of SD Muhammadiyah Bodon. The subjects of the field try-out were 20 students of Grade IV and 1 teacher of SD Muhammadiyah Bodon. The subjects of the operational product try-out were 29 students of Grade IV B and 1 teacher of SD Muhammadiyah Bodon. The results showed that the lectora multimedia, acciding to the evaluation of the materials expert and media expert, were categorized “very good” so that they were appropriate for use. It was also found that the media were effective based on the different assessment results before and after the use of Lectora interactive multimedia with a significance value of 0,0001 0,05. Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendiskripsikan berbagai strategi yang dilakukan sekolah dalam mengimplemtasikan pendidikan karakter melalui kultur sekolah di SMP N 14 Yogyakarta. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMP N 14 Yogyakarta, dengan subjek guru dan siswa. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Teknik pemeriksaan keabsahan data yang digunakan adalah teknik triangulasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kultur sekolah merupakan hal penting yang harus diperhatikan dalam proses internalisasi nilai karakter di sekolah. Beberapa strategi dalam mengimplementasikan pendidikan karakter melalui kultur seperti adanya kegiatan rutin, kegiatan spontan, pemodelan, pengajaran, dan penguatan lingkungan sekolah. Dalam upaya mengimplemantasikan pendidikan karakter tidak terlepas dari keteladanan kepala sekolah, guru, karyawan, dan siswa yang saling bersinergi dalam menciptakan kultur sekolah yang positif. Kata Kunci: implementasi pendidikan karakter, kultur sekolah THE IMPLEMENTATION OF CHARACTER EDUCATION THROUGH THE SCHOOL CULTURE AT SMP N 14 YOGYAKARTA Abstract: This research aimed to describe various strategies taken by the school in implementing character education through school culture at SMP N 14 Yogyakarta. This research is a descriptive research study using a qualitative approach. This research was conducted at SMP N 14 Yogyakarta, with the subjects consisting of the students and teachers. The data were collected by observation, interview, and documentation. The data validity was checked by a triangulation technique. The research results showed that school culture was an important aspect needing close attention in the process of internalizing character values at school. A number of strategies in implementing character education were, among others, routine activities, spontaneous activities, role-modeling, teaching, and strengthening the school environment. The efforts of implementing character education were inseparable from the role modeling of the school principal, teachers, administrative staff, and students who sinergized each other in creating a positive school culture.. Abstract

Abstrak: Karakter disusun oleh tiga komponen yang saling memengaruhi, yaitu pengetahuan moral, perasaan moral, dan tindakan moral. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh karakteristik anak dan keluarga, iklim keluarga, dan keteladanan orang tua terhadap karakter remaja. Penelitian ini melibatkan seratus orang anak Sekolah Menengah Pertama di Desa Ciasihan dan Ciasmara, Kecamatan Pamijahan, Kabupaten Bogor yang dipilih menggunakan teknik proportional stratified random sampling. Dalam penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa anak yang memiliki pengetahuan moral, perasaan moral, tindakan moral, dan karakter yang rendah berasal dari keluarga dengan iklim keluarga dan keteladanan orang tua yang juga rendah. Anak perempuan memiliki karakter yang lebih baik dibanding anak laki-laki. Selain itu, ditemukan juga bahwa bahwa iklim keluarga memiliki pengaruh positif terhadap karakter remaja. Kata Kunci: iklim keluarga, keteladanan, pengetahuan moral, perasaan moral, tindakan moral THE INFLUENCE OF FAMILY ATMOSPHERE AND PARENTS’ ROLE-MODELS ON THE CHARACTERS OF RURAL JUVENILES Abstract: Character is composed of three components which influence each other: moral knowledge, moral feeling, and moral action. This research aimed to describe the influence of characteritics of children and family, family atmosphere, the role-model of the parents on the rural juveniles’ character. The research involved 100 junior high school students in the Villages of Ciasihan and Ciasmara, the District of Pamijahan, the Regency of Bogor selected using a proportional stratified random sampling technique. It was found from this research that the juveniles who had low moral knowledge, moral feeling, moral action, and character came from a family with a family atmosphere and parents’ role model which were also low. Female juveniles had better character compared with that of the male juveniles. Besides, it was also found that family atmosphere had a positive influence on the juveniles’ character. Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan modul penyusunan RPP tematik-integratif berbasis character building yang layak dan efektif diterapkan sebagai bahan belajar mandiri bagi guru sekolah dasar. Penelitian pengembangan ini mengacu pada langkah yang dikembangkan oleh Borg Gall yang terdiri dari 10 langkah. Subjek uji coba dalam penelitian ini adalah guru-guru kelas sekolah dasar di Gugus II Kecamatan Bambanglipuro Bantul, baik yang belum mengikuti pelatihan Kurikulum 2013 maupun yang sudah pernah. Jumlah subjek uji coba dalam penelitian ini adalah 2 orang guru untuk uji lapangan terbatas, 10 orang guru untuk uji coba lapangan utama, dan 36 orang guru untuk uji coba lapangan operasional. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan angket dan anekdot. Teknik ana- lisis data menggunakan paired sample test dan independent sample t-test dengan taraf signifikansi 0,05. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa modul layak digunakan menurut penilaian ahli materi, ahli media, dan subjek uji coba pada uji coba lapangan terbatas, uji coba lapangan utama, dan uji coba lapangan operasional. Modul juga efektif digunakan sebagai bahan belajar mandiri, baik dari segi pemahaman maupun penerapan. Kata Kunci: modul, RPP, tematik-integratif, character building, belajar mandiri THE DEVELOPMENT OF A MODULE FOR WRITING THEMATIC-INTEGRATIVE LESSON PLANS BASED ON CHARACTER BUILDING AS A LEARNING MATERIAL FOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHERS Abstract: This research aimed at developing a module for writing thematic-integrative lesson plans based on character building appropriate and effective to be applied as an independent learning material for elementary school teachers. This research and development referred to the 10-step procedure developed by Borg Gall. The subjects of the try-out in this research were classroom elementary school teachers of Gugus II in District of Bambanglipuro Bantul, both who had joined the 2013 Curriculum training and who had not, consisting of 2 teachers for the limited try-out, 10 teachers for the main field try-out, and 36 teachers for the operational field try-out. The data collection instruments were questionnaires and anecdotes. The data analysis used the techniques of paired sample test and independent sample t-test with the significance values of 0,05. The results showed that the module was appropriate for use, according to the materials expert, the media expert, and the subjects of limited, main and operational try-outs. The module was also effective for use as teachers’ independent learning materials, both for understanding or application. Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh pola asuh disiplin dan pola asuh spiritual ibu terhadap karakter anak usia sekolah dasar di Kabupaten Bogor. Desain penelitian menggunakan cross sectional study yang melibatkan 125 anak dan ibu, dipilih proportional random sampling dan diwawan- carai dengan kuesioner. Penelitian menemukan tidak ada perbedaan nyata antara pola asuh disiplin dan pola asuh spiritual anatara anak laki-laki dengan anak perempuan. Hasil menemukan nilai ratarata pola asuh spiritual lebih baik dibandingkan pola asuh disiplin. Pendidikan Ibu, pola asuh disiplin induktif, pola asuh disiplin mengabaikan/kekerasan verbal, dan pola asuh spiritual yang semakin meningkat berhubungan nyata dengan karakter. Hasil menemukan bahwa jenis kelamin, pola asuh disiplin induktif, dan pola asuh spiritual berpengaruh positif signifikan terhadap karakter anak. Kata Kunci: disiplin, spiritual, induktif, kekerasan fisik, mengabaikan/kekerasan verbal, anak usia sekolah dasar THE INFLUENCE OF THE MOTHER’S DISCIPLINE REARING PATTERN AND SPIRITUAL REARING PATTERN ON THE CHARACTER OF THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL-AGE CHILDREN Abstract: This research aimed to describe the influence of the mother’s discipline rearing pattern and spiritual rearing pattern on the character of the elementary school-age children in Bogor Regency. The research design used was a cross sectional study involving 125 children and mothers, selected using proportional random sampling, and the data were collected using a questionnaire. The research found that there was no significant difference between the discipline rearing pattern and the spiritual rearing pattern on male and female children. The research found that the average score of spiritual rearing pattern was better than that of the discipline rearing pattern. The mother’s education, inductive discipline rearing pattern, discipline rearing pattern with verbal abuse, and spiritual rearing pattern were significantly related to the character. The results showed that gender, inductive discipline rearing pattern, and spiritual rearing pattern had a positive significant influence on the children’s character. Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan dan mendeskripsikan berbagai bentuk pembinaan karakter siswa melalui kegiatan kepramukaan di MAN 1 Yogyakarta. Penelitian ini juga mengkaji berbagai hambatan yang muncul dalam rangka pembinaan karakter siswa MAN 1 Yogyakarta serta upaya-upaya yang dilakukan untuk mengatasinya. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Penentuan subjek penelitian dengan teknik purposive. Teknik pengumpulan datanya adalah observasi partisipatif, wawancara,dan dokumentasi. Sedang teknik analisis datanya adalah teknik analisis induktif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembentukan karakter melalui kegiatan kepramukaan di MAN 1 Yogyakarta dilakukan melalui peran pembina pramuka sebagai mitra atau pembimbing, memberikan dukungan dan memfasilitasi siswa dengan kegiatan yang modern, menarik, dan menantang. Metodenya antara lain: pengamalan kode kehormatan pramuka pada setiap kegiatan; kegiatan belajar sambil melakukan, berkelompok, bekerja sama, dan berkompetisi; kegiatan di alam terbuka seperti perkemahan; penghargaan berupa tanda kecakapan bantara dan laksana; sertasatuan terpisah ambalan putra dan putri. Hambatan yang muncul antara lain adalah kurangnya perhatian guru terhadap masalah pramuka danbanyaknya siswa yang tidak suka mengikuti kegiatan kepramukaan. Upaya untuk mengatasinya dengan mengajak para guru ikhlas melakukannya dan menciptakan kegiatan yang menarik dan menantang siswa. Kata Kunci: pembentukan karakter, siswa, kegiatan kepramukaan STUDENTS’ CHARACTER SHAPING THROUGH SCOUTING ACTIVITIES AT MAN 1 YOGYAKARTA Abstract: This research aimed to find and describe various forms of students’ character nurturing through scouting activities at MAN 1 Yogyakarta. This research also studied a number of constraints emerging within the nurturance of the students’ character and efforts made to overcome the constraints. This was a descriptive research study employing a qualitative approach. The subjects were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The data were collected through participatory observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were then analyzed using an inductive analysis technique. The results showed that character shaping through scouting activities at MAN 1 Yogyakarta by maximizing the roles of the scout nurturers as partners or supervisors, gave supports and facilitated students with modern, interesting, and challenging activities. Among the methods used were: the implementation of scouting codes of respects in every activity; learning activities through doing, working in groups, cooperating, and competing; activities in the open air such as camping; rewards in the forms of capacity symbols such as bantara and laksana; and separate units of ambalan for males and females. The constraints emerging were, among others, a lack of teachers’ attention to the scouting issues and the great number of students who did not like to join scouting activities. The solution was through inviting all the teachers to willingly contribute to the scouting activities and creating interesting and challenging activities for the students. Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pembentukan karakter melalui budaya sekolah yang dibangun di SDN Mangundikaran I Nganjuk, yang merupakan salah satu sekolah negeri yang menjadi sekolah unggulan dan favorit di Nganjuk. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik wawancara, pengamatan (observasi), dan pencermatan dokumen. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh dapat diketahui bahwa dalam menanamkan karakter pada siswa dilakukan dengan pembiasaan-pembiasaan melalui berbagai kegiatan, yaitu: (1) kegiatan rutin yang dilakukan siswa secara terus-menerus dan konsisten setiap saat; (2) kegiatan spontan yang dilakukan siswa secara spontan pada saat itu juga; (3) keteladanan merupakan perilaku, sikap guru, tenaga kependidikan, dan siswa dalam memberikan contoh melalui tindakan-tindakan yang baik sehingga diharapkan menjadi panutan bagi siswa lain; dan (4) pengondisian dengan cara penciptaan kondisi yang mendukung keterlaksanaan pendidikan karakter. Kata Kunci: pendidikan karakter, kultur sekolah, karakter siswa BUILDING STUDENTS CHARACTER THROUGH CULTURE SCHOOL IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Abstract: This research aimed to describe character shaping through school culture developed in SDN Mangundikaran I Nganjuk, one of the state schools which became a school of excellence and favourite in Nganjuk. Data collection was conducted through the techniques of interview, observation, and document study. Based on the data analysis it was found that nurturing character on the students was conducted by habit formation through various activities: (1) routine activities done by the students continously and cosistently every moment; (2) spontaneous activities; (3) role-modeling, which was the behaviors and attitudes of the teachers, educational staff, and students in giving models through good actions so that they can be good examples for other students; and (4) conditioning by creating a situation or an atmosphere supporting the accomplishment of character education Keywords: character education, school culture, students’ character

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran berupa Subject SpecifiPedagogy (SSP) tematik integratif yang dapat meningkatkan karakter siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar, ter utama karakter hormat dan tanggung jawab. Penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas SSP tematik integratif dalam mengembangkan karakter hormat dan tanggung jawab peserta didik kelas IV SD Karanganyar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dan pengembangan, yang terdiratas beberapa tahapan, yaitu: (1) studi pendahuluan; (2) perencanaan; (3) mengembangkan produkawal; (4) uji coba awal; (5) revisi produk utama; (6) uji coba lapangan; (7) revisi terhadap produk operasional; (8) uji coba lapangan produk operasional; (9) revisi produk final; (10) penyebaran dan implementasi. Subjek uji coba adalah siswa kelas IV SD Karanganyar. Subjek uji coba satu-satu terdiri atas 3siswa. Subjek uji coba kelompok kecil terdiri atas 10 siswa yang belum terlibat dalam uji coba satusatu, dan subjek uji lapangan terdiri atas 30 siswa dari kelas IV A dan kelas IV B. Hasil penelitian inberupa komponen SSP yang meliputi: silabus, RPP, LKS, dan instrumen penilaian. Hasil penilaianmenunjukkan bahwa silabus yang dikembangkan mendapat skor aktual 42 termasuk kategori “sangatbaik”. RPP yang dikembangkan mendapat skor aktual 53 termasuk kategori “baik”, LKS yang dikembangkan mendapat skor aktual 43 termasuk kategori “baik” dan instrumen penilaian yang dikembangkan dinyatakan valid termasuk kategori “baik”. Kata Kunci: pengembangan, subject specific pedagogy, tematik integratif, karakter SUBJECT SPECIFIC PEDAGOGY THEMATIC INTEGRATIVE MODEL FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF STUDENTS’ RESPECT AND RESPONSIBILITY CHARACTER VALUES Abstract: This research aimed at producing a learning package in the form of thematic-integrativeSubject Specific Pedagogy (SSP) that could improve the character of the fourth grade of elementary school, especially the character of respect and responsibility. This research also aimed to find theeffectiveness of the thematic-integrative SSP in developing the character values of respect and responsibility of the fourth grade students of SD Karanganyar. This research and development consistedof a number of steps: (1) preleminary study; (2) planning; (3) early product development; (4) limitedtry-out; (5) revision of the main product; (6) field try-out; (7) revision on operational product; (8) fieldtry-out of the operational product; (9) final revision of product; (10) dissemination and implementation. The try-out subjects were Grade IV students of SD Karanganyar. The subjects of one-one tryout consisted of 3 students. The subjects of small group try-out consisted of 10 students who had nobeen involved in the one-one try-out, while the subjects of field try-out consisted of 30 students 30students of Grades IV A and IV B. The results of the research were SSP components consisting of: syllabus, learning implementation plans, students’ worksheets, and evaluation instrument. The results othe evaluation showed that the developed syllabus obtained an actual score of 42, which belonged tothe “very good” category. The learning implementation plans (RPP) developed gained an actual scoreof 53, which belonged to the “good” category, the students’ worksheet (LKS) got an actual score of 43which belonged to the “good” category, while the evaluation instrument developed was consideredvalis and belonged to the “good” category. Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji persoalan remaja dengan berbagai tantangan yang dihadapinya serta upaya untuk mengatasinya. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kepustakaan (li- brary research) dengan pendekatan psikologis analitik dan sosiologis. Sumber penelitian ini diambil dari kepustakaan sebagai sumber primer yang digali dari materi remaja dan perkembangannya, pen- didikan karakter remaja, dan program life skills bagi remaja akhir yang dilengkapi dengan sumber sekunder berupa literatur-literatur lain yang relevan dan menunjang penelitian ini baik berupa buku, jurnal, surat kabar, majalah, dan sebagainya, antara lain: Orang Tua sebagai Sahabat Remaja oleh BKKBN Pusat Jakarta. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa remaja harus dibekali dengan pendidik- an keterampilan hidup (life skills) yang cenderung membawa remaja pada pembentukan karakter yang menjadikan remaja semakin sehat dan bermartabat di masyarakat. Pendidikan keterampilan hi- dup (life skills) meliputi beberapa hal, antara lain: (1) keterampilan fisik yang intinya adalah bagaimana menyeimbangkan antara nutrisi, olah raga, dan istirahat; (2) keterampilan mental yang intinya adalah bagaimana berpikir secara positif; (3) keterampilan emosional yang intinya adalah bagaimana berkomunikasi dengan orang lain secara efektif; (4) keterampilan spiritual yang intinya adalah bagaimana bersyukur dan berdoa untuk memperoleh keridoan Allah Swt.; (5) keterampilan vokasional yang intinya adalah bagaimana menjadikan hobi dan bakat menjadi usaha untuk hidup mandiri; dan (6) keterampilan adversity yang intinya adalah bagaimana menghadapi kesulitan hidup dengan meng- ubah hambatan menjadi peluang. Kata Kunci: remaja, pembentukan karakter, dan keterampilan hidup JUVENILE CHARACTER BUILDING THROUGH LIFE SKILLS Abstract: This research aimed to describe the juvenile issues related to various challenges faced and efforts to overcome them. This was a library research study using analytic psychological and sociological approach. The research data were taken from the library as the primary source exploited from the materials on juveniles and their development, juveniles’ character education, and life skills programs for late juveniles coupled with secondary sources in the form of other relevant literatures such as: Orang Tua sebagai Sahabat Remaja by BKKBN Pusat Jakarta. The results show that the juveniles should be armed with life skills education which tends to lead them to the character shaping that makes them healthier and more prestigious in the community. Life skills education includes a number of aspects such as: (1) physical skills, of which the essence is how to balance between nutrition, sports, and resting; (2) mental skills, of which the essence is how to think positively; (3) emotional skills, of which the essence is how to communicate with others effectively; (4) spiritual skills, the essence of which is how to thank and pray to ask for Allah’s approval; (5) vocational skills, the essence of which is how to turn hobby and talent into an effort to live autonomously; and (6) adversity skills, of which the essence is how to face problems in life by changing constraints into opportunities.
