Abstract

Tourist village is one of the alternative approaches of sustainable tourism development. One of the goals of this tourism village is to develop the natural potential in an area or village while maintaining local culture as a tourist attraction. Furthermore, to realize a good tourist village, intervention and direct involvement are needed in the management of tourist village. This can be done by conducting community empowerment activities in economic, social, and environmental aspects. Pentingsari Tourist Village is one of the tourist villages that developed quite well and managed to apply the principle of community empowerment in its development. This can be seen when Pentingsari Tourist Village won the second place in Sleman Regency Tourist Village Competition in 2008 and the first winner of DIY Tourist Village Competition in 2009. This research used a descriptive qualitative method with the aim to see how the community empowerment process in Pentingsari Tourist Village.Community empowerment in Pentingsari Tourist Village beganwith the previous process of tourist village formation to Pentingsari Tourist Village at this time. Various forms of training have been given to the community as an effort to empower the community. This assistance is carried out by various parties, including the government, namely the Tourism Office of Sleman Regency, as well as the private sector. One of them is training from PT. Bank Central Asia (BCA).Tbk, which provides training to the public in the form of excellent service standards. These things show that the empowerment process carried out in the Pentingsari Tourist Village was going gradually. This is also influenced by several supporting factors, such as the driving actors, the community, the role of the government, and the private sector.

Abstract

BRT is one of the mass transportation facilities that has the main function of serving human movement. The existence of BRT can also be used as an alternative besides of personal transportation. To maintain sustainability, BRT needs to apply eco driving. In addition to maintaining the sustainability of the bus, the application of eco driving can also reduce emissions and to save fuel consumption. Emission of released gases can have a negative impact on the environment in the long term whereas excessive fuel consumption can have an impact on the economy if fuel is starting to be difficult to obtain. The application of eco driving is also one way to support the concept of sustainable transportation in its particular urban area on the economic and environmental aspects. The concept cannot run properly if the driver does not apply eco driving. Due to the absence of eco driving can trigger drivers not to behave economically in driving so it gives impact the increase in emissions, excess fuel consumption and affect the sustainability or durability of the bus. This research has a purpose to assess the operational of BRT corridor VI in Semarang City based on eco driving rule. To achieve these purpose, it is necessary to analysis of eco driving level based on BRT corridor VI, analysis of eco driving level based on BRT driver corridor VI and analysis of eco driving indicator not applied by BRT driver corridor VI. Analysis done by using data result from field observation called checklist data. The checklist data that has been obtained will be given a score where the eco driving indicator applied is given a score of 1 whereas that is not applied given a score of 0. Assessment is done on 16 drivers and for each driver is done assessment on 26 stops or segment. The results of the assessment will be summed and processed to obtain the category of eco driving. The results of the analysis show that the level of eco driving in BRT corridor VI is classified as medium. This means that the concept of sustainable transportation has been implemented but not fully yet. This is because 14 of the 16 drivers classified as medium eco driving are still not fully implementing eco driving. Indicator of eco driving that is still often done by the driver is sudden braking, unstable speed, unnecessary accelerate and unnecessary deceleration. These four indicators occupy four major eco-driving indicators that are not appropriate with the concept of sustainable transportation, especially on economic aspects because it can affect the efficiency of fuel consumption and sustainability or durability of the bus.

Abstract

Kejajar District is one of the districts included in the category of high landslide hazard at Wonosobo Regency. There are a few factors that may cause the hazard besides the topography condition, which is the high conversion of forestland to horticultural farming such as potato in particular. The decrease in forest vegetation, which has a strong root grip in highlands with steep slopes and its function as the water absorption region will accelerate the soil erosion. The aim of this study is to observe the factors affecting the horticultural land use by farmers in landslide prone areas with a quantitative method that consists of spatial analysis, descriptive statistic, and crosstab analysis. Based on the result of the study using the non-probability sampling, the result showed that the factors affecting horticultural land use were economic and socio-cultural factors. The length of time for horticultural farming business in the region with a time span of > 20 years, indicated that horticultural farming business was not only for consumption or potential exploitation of the natural characteristics. Yet, there was a beneficial factor from the economic side that brought the local communities to make use of their horticultural land for business. As time goes by, it eventually became a cultural order to the locals for making the horticultural land as business. The local government has made various conservative efforts, however reinforcement is needed from certain sides. Considering the planning and paradigm change are long term process, accordingly reinforcement is required not only from the technical side, but also from the non-technical side by collaboration and participative planning.

Based on the formulation of the problem then the question of this research is How is the Quality and Level of Service of Pedestrian in Khatib Sulaiman Street Corridor Padang City? The purpose of this research is to know the quality and pedestrian level of service on Khatib Sulaiman Street corridor. Pedestrian ways quality analysis was conducted using PEQI approach, while level of service analysis used Level Of Service (LOS) analysis with High Capacity Manual (HCM 2000) method. The method used in this research is quantitative method with descriptive analysis and evaluative analysis. Based on the analysis known that the personal characteristics of pedestrians are 18-50 years old with the type of student. The activity that dominates on the pedestrian track is important activity. Types of land use around the pedestrian lanes are residential areas, trade & services, offices, schools/campuses, and the mosque of Kota Padang as a tourist attraction and landmark. Based on the land use, the pattern of pedestrian movement is dominantly moving from the settlement area to the commercial area. The results of pedestrian path quality analysis showed the quality of the intersections are in category III (basic category) and the quality of the path in category IV (bad category). The result of level of service analysis shows that is service level based on current or based on entrance space at service level D (bad service level). The results of quality analysis and pedestrian level of service can be used as a basic reference for the government as a provider of pedestrian ways.

Abstract

The Ciliwung River is one of the rivers that routinely causing flood in its area, which has an impact on property and life losses. But in order to reduce the impact caused, the government cooperated with several other parties to take precautionary and preparedness measures, one of which was the existence of an early warning system. The effectiveness of the flood early warning system in the Ciliwung River was assessed using four variables, namely knowledge about flood risk, monitoring and flood early warning services, dissemination and communication of flood early warning systems, and the ability to respond. The assessment of the effectiveness of the early warning system was carried out in four villages, Kebon Baru, Kampung Melayu, Bidara Cina, and Bukit Duri, which represented an early warning system on the Ciliwung River. Scoring results found that the flood early warning system in the Ciliwung River was effective because the average scoring of each question was 2 and 3 which indicated that the existing early warning went well with the support of the government, the community, other parties and the support of equipment and good technology.
