Abstract

Civic Education has a strategic role in strengthening multiculturalism in Indonesia. However, the contents of civic learning at the elementary level up to university level are showing lack of phenomenon that explores the multicultural values based on local wisdom (local genius). This research is a literature study by finding reference theories relevant to the cases or problems found. The reference theory obtained by method of literature study was presented as the foundation. It was found that: (1) The primordially knowledge, attitude and behavior of Indonesian society are kinds of things that impede Civics Education as a medium for strengthening multiculturalism in Indonesia; (2) Civic Education has great potential to become the foundation for multicultural strengthening in Indonesia with attention to innovation and development of the content, as well as the learning model. (3) Civic Education has a philosophical meaning as the foundation of ligature strength in the establishment of pluralism multicultural mentalities in order to realize national goals and nation’s modernization without abandoning the local wisdom.

Abstract

This article is based on research intended at describing the execution of verdict of private case in court of Sleman Regency and its obstacles. It was a descriptive qualitative research. It was found that the excecution of verdict of private case in court of Sleman Regency begins by accustion or submission of execution by appelant and ends  execution by confiscation. Its obstacle were: (1) its high cost as burdance of appelant; (2) the lack of qualified personels; and (3) the rivalry or rejection of accusted. The efforts to overcome these obstacles were: (1) the chief of regency court encourages both sides to compromise between initiator of accustion and his/her rival (accusted) peacefully; (2) send a  personel substitude of seizure in calling conflicting side and proposing aditional personels but not yet succesful; and (3) the persoel of seizure inform or sends the unsolved problem through electrinic devices to Sleman Regency in order to suspend its execution.

Abstract

This article aims to understand and multiply the moral values that exist in the expression of Java. Of the values excavated the hope can be a reference as the formation of civic culture and politic culture. The type of research used in this research is qualitative research, with descriptive-critical method, which in his explanation more emphasis on the power of data analysis on existing data sources. This study is based on library research. The object of the studies in the form of notes, transcripts, books, Journal of Research and so on which is linked to the study of Javanese culture, civic culture and politics culture. From the results of the discussion then known some phrases like aja dumeh, mendhem jero mikul dhuwur, jer basuki mawa bea. Having moral universal citizenship values so as to become a reference in order to form the civic culture which could further impact on politics culture as an effort to civil society in the Republic of Indonesia.

Abstract

This research is used quantitative approach and descriptive method. Instrument used by the research is skala Survey of Study Habits and Attitudes questionnaire to describing media social using by students and Likert Scale questionnaire to describing student’s political literacy. Data analysis using Rank Spearman Order.The result show that social media used by students 48% good, 26% fair, and 15% poor. Student’s political literacy are 36% good, 43% fair, and 21% poor. The role of social media in the development of student's political literacy is 54,79% affected by social media, and 45,21% affected by other factors.

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the pesantren as a site of citizenship and its role in shaping civic culture in Madura. This research was qualitative with a case study The results of this study indicate that: 1) Pesantren as a site of citizenship was a place of sowing identity and spirit of religion and nationality for citizens who are participative, active, caring, sensitive and responsible. 2) The role of pesantren as a site of citizenship in shaping civic culture in Madura, appears in the field of education, social, and politics through the inculcation of religious and national values, community empowerment, and political involvement. All of that were voiced on the religious values that characterize pesantren as an institution of Islamic education. Pesantren with traditional managerial patterns was guided by an open and moderate religious understanding. In the pesantren with modern managerial patterns, the programs were based on Islami, Tarbawi, Ma'hadi, and Indonesiawi. The forms of overcoming the problem were the empowerment of alumni and cooperation with the community.

Abstract

Transformative citizenship becomes a crucial discourse to be realized both in civil and political life in order to achieve national state. Establishing transformative citizenship means shaping critical and active citizen on emergent issues as well as aware their role and function in political life. One of important things is their involvement in law system. According to Lawrence Friedman the element of system of law consists of structure of law, material of law and culture of law. Cultural law is the rarest element focused seriously by stakeholders in developing law. In diversity context of religion, race, local culture such as those in Indonesia, it is a challenging effort to develop national law. Therefore, it is important to enforce cultural law in order achieve the purpose of law.

Abstract

This research-based article tries to dig the conception of Pancasila-based State as Darul Ahdi Wa Syahadah to enlarge and enrich teaching materials of Citizenship Education for students at Muhammadiyah Higher Education. It is argued that this effort is to give them basic comprehension of conceptual as well as practical dimensions of the relation among state, Pancasila, and Islam in accordance with Muhammadiyah doctrine. Unit of analysis is the coordinators of Citizenship Education at Ahmad Dahlan University. Data was collected through interview and document reading. Interviewees were coordinators and lecturers of the program chosen purposively. It is argued that the urgency of conception of Pancasila-based State as Darul Ahdi Wa Syahadah to strengthen and enlarge teaching materials of Citizenship Education at Ahmad Dahlan University due to its accordance with its vision and mission as an institution under Muhammadiyah Higher Education Foundation.

Abstract

This article discusses the urgency of civic disposition in citizenship education curriculum in order to shape citizen character. Civic disposition is a the most substantive and essential element of citizenship education. In this matter it is intended that good citizen is the target. But, in the course of time, it is evidenced that citizenship education curriculum is intervened by rezim. The feature of a good citizenship means differently to different regime. It is recommended that the reoriented of this curriculum is intended to release the interest and power of rezim by placing Pancasila and 1945 Constitution.

Abstract

This research was aimed at describing the implementation of anti-corruption education on citizenship education through project citizen-based activity. It is descriptive inquiry conducted at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Ponorogo. The result was that the implementation of  anti-corruption education was conducted through studying problems relating corruption resulting in presentation panels consist of 4 sections namely problem, alternative policy, proposed solution, and action plan section. Through these activities, it was intended that students would acquired some desired attitudes such as honesty, care, self-help, discipline, responsibility, hard work, humbleness, courage and justice.

Abstract

This research based article was aimed at explaining the effect of Contextual Teaching and Learning and Problem Based Learning on the establishment of Ecological Competence in Civic Education in Junior High School. It was a quasi-experiment research with pretest-posttest control group design. The population was student grade VII of SMP Negeri 2 Surakarta. The sample was chosen randomly, consist of one classroom as experimental group and another classroom as control group. Instrument for collecting data were test, questionnaire, and observation. It can be concluded that the establishment of ecological competence among junior high school students though through contextual teaching and learning are more effective than those who were though by problem based learning and conventional one. It was indicated by the result of one way anova Fcount Ftable (24.0313.11) and P=0.0000.05).
