Abstract

ABSTRACT The aim of this research was to examine Phaleria macrocarpa fruit powder mixed on feed in order to cure infected sangkuriang catfish by A. hydrophila. The advantage of this research was as an alternatives method using Phaleria macrocarpa fruit powder to cure sangkuriang catfish infected by A. hydrophila. This research was conducted on Laboratorium Budidaya Perairan, Aquaculture Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. Determination of hematocrit and total leucocytes were conducted in UPT Klinik Sriwijaya University, Indralaya from October until November 2014. This research was  designed based on Complete Randomized Design with six treatments and three replications. The fish was infected by A. hydrophila with density of 2.2.106 cfu.mL-1 using injection method. The catfish has been reared for 31 days and fed with pellet enriched  with 0 %, 1.2 %, 2.4 %, 3.6 % and 4.8 % Phaleria macrocarpa fruit powder. Feeding frequency was three times a day. The parameters observed on this research were injury diameter, the percentage of cured fish, hematocrit concentration, total leucocytes, survival rate, growth, feed efficiency and water physical and chemical properties. The result showed that the addition of P. macrocarpa fruit powder on feed was effectively cured the infection caused A. hydrophila revealed by decreasing of injury diameter. The best treatment was the addition of 2.4 % P. macrocarpa. This treatment could increase hematocrit concentration and total leucocytes, gave the highest results on survival rate (95 %), absolute weight growth (22.4 g), absolute length growth (5.38 cm) and feed efficiency (77.9 %).     Keywords : Aeromonas hydrophila, catfish, infection, treatment, P. macrocarpa

Abstract

ABSTRACT The aim of this research was to determine the feeding period Artemia sp. nauplii, Moinasp., Tubifex sp., and artificial feed to increasesurvival and growth of kissing gouramy larvae since4th day until 35th after hatching. The research was conducted on July up toSeptember 2014 at Aquaculture Program Study, Agriculture Faculty Sriwijaya University.The research was designed based on Complete RandomizedDesignwith 5 treatments and 3 replications. Larvae (4th day after hatching) were fed four times a day at 08.00 am, 11.00 am, 02.00 pm, and05.00 pm. The treatmentswere larvae that were fed withArtemiasp. nauplii at the age of larvae of 4-15 days, Moina sp.at the age of larvae 14 – 24 days, and Tubifex sp. at the age of larvae 23 – 35 days (P1), Artemiasp. nauplii was gave at age of larvae 4 – 13 days, Moina sp.was gave atage of larvae 12 – 20 days, and Tubifex sp.was gave at the age of larvae 19-35 days (P2), Artemia sp. nauplii was gave at the age of larvae 4 – 11 days, Moina sp.was gave at the age of larvae 10-16 days, and Tubifex sp.was gave at the age of larvae 15 – 35 days (P3), Artemiasp. nauplii was gave at the age of larvae 4 – 13 days, Moina sp.was gave at the age of larvae 12 – 20 days, and artificial feed was gave at the age of larvae 19-35 days (P4), Artemiasp. nauplii was gave at the age of larvae 4 – 11 days, Moina sp.was gave at age of larvae 10-16 days, and artificial feed was gave at the age of larvae 15 – 35 days (P5).The results showed that the highest percentage of survival rate was P3 (59.33%), there was no significantly different with P4 (55%). Abstract

ABSTRACT The problem of development of climbing perch culture was low in growth rate. The effort to increase growth rate of climbing perch is hormonal treatment, including the hormone thyroxine. The aim of this research was to determine the effective consentration and duration of immertion of thyroxine hormone to increase yolk sack absorbtion and growth rate. This research held in August to September 2014 in Laboratorium Dasar Perikanan, Aquculture Study Departement, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya. This research using factorial completely rondomezed design with two factors, the first was thyroxine consentration with immersion media (K1=0.01 mg.L-1, K2=0.05 mg.L-1, K3=0.1 mg.L-1) and the second was the long immersion (W1=24 hours, W2=48 hours, W3=72 hours) with three replication. The parameters that observed were yolk sack absorption, growth, survival rate and water quality. The result showed that the highest yolk sack absorbtion was K2 (0.05 mg.L-1) and K3 (0.1 mg.L-1). The highest growth was K3W2 (0.1 mg.L-1 of consentration and immersion for 48 hours) with the weight was 316.1 mg and length was 26.56 mm. The best survival rate was 88.67% (K1W1). The value of water quality during larva rearing were temperature 26-28 oC, pH 5.6-6.5, dissolved oxygen 4.43-5.93 mg.L-1 and ammonia 0.00-0.03 mg.L-1   Keywords : Climbing perch larvae, thyroxine hormone, duration of immertion, growth

Abstract

ABSTRACT The objective of this study is to know the best synthetic gonadotrophine hormon doses to stimulate the breeding of snakehead through observing the latent time, the number of eggs, and the percentage of fertilized eggs and the hatching percent of snakehead. This experiment was conducted in (UPR) Batanghari Sembilan in North Indralaya sub-district in Ogan Ilir regency on January until February 2015. The design of this study was completely randomized design which having three different treatments of different doses of hormone given. The doses treatments were P1 = 0.2 ml/kg fish, P2 = 0.4 ml/kg fish and P3 = 0.6 ml/kg fish with each male and female parent of fish was injected three treatment trhee times for each treatments. The result of this experiment showed that utilization of synthetic gonadotrophine hormone with different doses had significant different effect to hatching percentage did not significantly different (P<5%) to latent time, the amount of eggs, and fertilized eggs percentage of snakehead. In this experiment, the treatment P1 was the best terms of four parameters which were the latent time (27.70 hours), the amount of eggs (6,668 eggs), the fertilized eggs percentage (99.75 %), and hatching percentage (78.47 %). Futhermore, the value range of water quality during the experiment were temperature 28-320C, pH 3.7-7.0 and dissolved oxygen 3.08-5.76 ppm. Abstract

ABSTRACT Streptococcosis is one of disease that attack nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus), which is caused by Streptococcus agalactiae. The aim of this research is to know effectivity of black cummin (Nigella sativa) to prevent S. agalactiae. This research was conducted on November-December 2014 in Laboratorium Budidaya Perairan, Laboratorium Dasar Perikanan and Laboratorium UPT. Klinik Kesehatan, Sriwijaya University. The design of this research used Complete Randomized Design (CRD)  with five treatments and three replications were, fish fed commercial feed and infected, fish fed commercial feed and addition of black cummin 3.5%, 7%, 10.5% and 14% and infected. The result of this research showed the addition of black cummin to feed can prevented and increase immune system on nile tilapia to bacterial S. agalactie with dose 3.5%. The in vitro test showed inhibition  zone diameter 1.75 cm and in vivo test showed hematocrite value 30%,  survival rate 90% and increase weight and lenght growth on nile tilapia.   Keywords : Streptococcosis, black cummin, nile tilapia

Abstract

ABSTRACT The effect of three protein levels of commercial diet on the growth performance, gonad maturation and fecundity of first maturity of Indonesian leaffish (Pritolepis grooti) was conducted in 54 liters recirculation aquaria system for 10 months rearing period. Eight-week-old artificial spawned  Indonesian  leaffish katung (Pristolepis grooti Bleeker)) fry with an average weight (SD) of 0.560(0.116) g were fed  5% BW three times a day with commercial diets 18, 28 and 38% Protein.  Fish fed on 38%  protein diet showed better growth and feed conversion ratio than those fed on 28 and 18% diets. Males matured earlier than females: the firstmature males were recorded when they were 5 months old, whereas the females matured after 6 month rearing period. The mean percentage of mature female fish rose with increasing feed protein level. It was also found that the percentage of mature fish rose with the increasing fish age and size. More than 70% males matured at the age of 6 months in all diet. After 10 months rearing period, the percentage of matured female fed on 38% protein was 100% while those fed on 16% protein was 25%. Smallest size at spawning of males and females was 8.5 cm (23 g) and 13 cm (65 g), respectively, and dietary protein levels influenced the size of fish at first maturity. It was found that  the protein level significantly effected the gonado somatic index (GSI). Fecundity increased with increasing dietary protein level. Abstract

ABSTRACT The aims of this research were to determining the right changed periode of Artemia sp., Moina sp., and artificial feed as fed of climbing perch (Anabas testudineus) larvae to growth and survival rate.The research used completely randomized design with three treatments and three replications. The treatment was difference changed periode of Artemia sp., Moina sp., and artificial feed as fed of climbing perch (Anabas testudineus) larvae. Artemia sp. were fed at 3–15 days after hatching,  Moina sp. were fed at 14 – 24 days after hatching and artificial feed at 21–33 days after hatching (I: 3-15, II: 14-24, III: 21-33) as treatment A;  Artemia sp. were fed at  3–11 days after hatching,  Moina sp. were fed at 10 – 20 days after hatching, and artificial feed at 17–33 days after hatching (I: 3-11, II: 10-20, III:17-33) as treatment B; Artemia sp. were fed at 3–7 days after hatching,  Moina sp. were fed at 6-18 days after hatching and artificial feed at 15–33 days after heatching ( I: 3-7, II: 6-18, III: 15-33) as treatment C. Fish were fed three times a day at 8 am, 10.30 am, 1 pm, 3.30 pm, 6 pm using at satiation method.Based on Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), the results showed significant difference effect in specific weight growth rate but no significant difference effect in specific lenght growth rate. Result of Honestly Significance Difference test showed the highest specific weight growth rate was treatment C, but no significant difference with treatment B. The best treatment for survival rate was treatment A  which significant difference with treatment C but no significant difference with treatment B. As long as research, water quality was in optimum range for  climbing perch (Anabas testudineus) larvae  rearing. Temperature was  27-28 oC , DO 3.38-5.06 mg.L-1 , pH 4.4-6.6, ammonia 0.002-0.008 mg.L-1. Keywords:Climbing perch, feed type, feed changing period, survival rate, growth rate

Abstract

ABSTRACT Soybean meal is plant protein sources that often used in fish feed. However, availability of soybean meal still depend on imports. Therefore, need an alternative to reduce dependence on soybean meal. Tofu waste can be used as alternative plant protein source. The aim of this research was to determine the best percentage of  fermented tofu waste meal in feed formulation for optimal growth and feed efficiency of catfish (Pangasius hypophthalmus) juvenile. This research was conducted at Laboratorium Dasar Perikanan, Aquaculture Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University on August to October 2014 and the feed proximate analysis conducted in Laboratorium Bioproses, Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya. The method of this research used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 6 treatments and 3 replications, consist of A (commercial feed), B (0% fermented tofu waste meal : 20% soybean meal), C (5%  fermented tofu waste meal : 15% soybean meal), D (10% fermented tofu waste meal : 10% soybean meal), E (15% fermented tofu waste meal : 5% soybean meal), F (20% fermented tofu waste meal : 0% soybean meal). The result showed that the use of fermented tofu waste in the feed had not signifficant on the growth of weight and length, specific growth rate, feed convertion ratio, feed efficiency, and survival rate of catfish juvenile for each treatment. Abstract

ABSTRACT Aeromonashydrophila is a bacteria that causes Motile Aeromonas Septicaemia (MAS)and infecting freshwater fish, especially catfish. The aims of this research were totest efectivness of Avverhoa bilimbijuice for bacterial infections Aeromonas hydrophila treatmentin Catfish (Clarias sp.). The implementation of this research wasfrom September until November 2014 in Budidaya Perairan Laboratory,Aquaculture Study Program, Agriculture Faculty, Sriwijaya University and blood testinUPTKlinik Kesehatanof Sriwijaya University.The research usedCompletelyRandomized Design with six treatments and three replications. The research used  immersion treatments with 0.05%, 0.1%, 0.15%, 0.2%, 0.25% and 0.3% during 24 hours. Parameters observed were percentage of healed fish andsurvival rate. The results showed that treatment throughimmersionmethodcatfishinAvverhoa bilimbijuice caused bacterial A.hydrophilainfection as much 0,2% fasterheal the woundscaused bacterialof A.hydrophilainfection withthe highestpercentage ofhealedfish91,11% andthe percentage ofthe best survivalrate at 93,33%.   Keywords :Catfish,Avverhoa bilimbi juice,A.hydrophila,Treatments.
