Abstract

Acne vulgaris is one of dermatosis problem’s that appear most at teenagerand caused by Propionibacterium acnes bacteria that had important role at acnes’phatogenesis. The purpose of this research was to know the effectiveness ofantibacterial activity from essential oil of pontianak orange peel that is formulatedas a transparent soap.  The transparent soaps were formulated using the isolate ofPropionibacterium acnes and disc diffusion  method (Kirby-Bauer test). Theisolate of Propionibacterium acnes was a result from sample isolation of subjectsthat had a dermatosis problem such as acnes. The essential oils were formulated asa transparent soap with variation concentration of active content into threeformulas, FI (0,025%); FII (0,05%); and FIII (0,1%) The result of transparentsoap then got physical and chemistry analysis such as color, fragrance, texture,foaming power, transparency, water content, free alkali, fatty acids total,unsaponifiable fraction, the height of foam, pH, and antibacterial activity of thetransparent soap. The results the analyzed using R-Commander Program 1.24.1.The results of evaluation showed that the transparent soaps from the essential oilof Pontianak orange peel were acceptable but there were few evaluation that werenot acceptable compared to the SNI standard. The effectiveness of antibacterialactivity from the transparent soap showed that F3 with 0,1% concentration ofessential oil give the best effectiveness with 20,84 ± 1,56 mm zone of inhibition. Abstract

Kudu laos traditional drink is a mixture of Morinda citrifolia L. fruit extract and Alpinia galanga L. rhizome. Both of the plants are known haveantidiabetic activity from in vivo data. The purpose of this study is to determinethe antidiabetic effect of kudu laos traditional drink in lowering blood glucoselevels and percent of the area damage islet of langerhans. Twenty five male wistarrat are divided into five groups: normal group (no treatment), streptozotocin groupinduced by streptozotocin dose 7 mg/200gBB, glibenklamid group induced bystreptozotocin dose 7 mg/200gBB and treated with glibenklamid suspension dose0,27 mg/200gBB, doses group 1  and doses group 2 induced by streptozotocindose 7 mg/200gBB and treated with kudu laos traditional drink dose 1,9ml/200gBB and 3,8 ml/200gBB. All of the treatment last 28 days. After 28 daysof treatment with kudu laos traditional drink dose 1,9 ml/200gBB and 3,8ml/200gBB there is a decrease in blood glucose levels respectively 103,2 mg/dland 117,8 mg/dl and percent of the area demage islet of langerhans each of4,114% and 4,263%  that are significantly different (P>0,05) with streptozotocingroup. The conculsion is jamu gendong kudu laos has the antidiabetic activitieswith effective dose 1,9 ml/200gBB.Keywords: Diabetic, Streptozotocin, Kudu laos traditional drink, Blood glucose levels, Damage islet of langerhans

Abstract

Vitamin E is an antioxidant that can bind with oxygen to destroys free radicals. Vitamin Ein tissues suppress oxidation of unsaturated fatty acids, which helps and maintain cell membranefunction. This research was aimed to find out the optimum formulation of lotion vitamin E andalso to determine the levels of vitamin E in lotion once it was made. The formula of lotion wasmade with series of five concentrations of vitamin E those are 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, and 5%. Theoptimum formula is chosen based on two physicochemical properties parameters, pH andviscosity. Analysis of data was performed using program R i386 3.1.1 package R-commander. Theresults showed that formula E (contained concentration 5%) was selected as the optimum formulawith spreading capacity of 6,97 cm; adhesive force 38,33 s; pH 7,38; and the viscosity 38,67 P.  Ccolumn was used in this research for HPLC condition. Validation result from the analysis methodused standard levels series displaying correlation coefficient (r) of 0,9973; relative standarddeviation (RSD) ≤ 16 %; percentage of recovery 92,16 %; limit of detection (LOD) 1,725 µg/mL;and limit of quantitation (LOQ) 5,752 μg/mL. Abstract

Abstract: Free radicals are one of the causes of the premature aging. free radicals can besuppressed by antioxidants. Carica papaya (Carica papaya L.) is one of the plants that potentiallyas a natural antioxidant. Ethanol extract of papaya leaves have IC 50 0.58 mg / ml, but not knownin cream. This study aims to determine the IC50 of the ethanol extract of papaya cream using DPPH(1,1-diphenyl-2-pikrilhidrazil) method. The extraction was done by maceration using ethanol.Ethanol extract of papaya leaves were obtained is tested phytochemicals, qualitative test withDPPH and qualitative test of vitamin C with KMnO4. The results of phytochemical screening wereknown that contains alkaloids, flavonoids, steroids, and phenolic. The results qualitative DPPHantioxidant activity and qualitative Vitamin C with KMnO4 showed have antioxidant activity andvitamin C. Ethanol extract prepared in cream. pH and particle size of cream were good. Creamingoccurs in formulas 4 and the most preferably cream is formula 1. Quantitative test of the ethanolextract of papaya cream using visible spectrophotometry. Abstract

Seeds of papaya (Carica papaya L.) is a part of plant that potentially as a naturalantioxidant. This study aims to determine the IC50 values, physical and chemical propertiesand antioxidant activity of ethanol extract of papaya seeds cream compared with positivecontrol. This research was conducted by the DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrilhydrazil) methodby spectrophotometric at λ max 516.0 nm. Cream consists of 5 formulas with variousconcentrations of the extract FI 0.8%, 1.6% F II, F III 2.4%, 3.2% F IV and FV 4%. Theresults showed that the ethanol extract all the cream papaya seeds have greater antioxidantactivity than the positive control. F II had the highest activity at 94.228% with IC50 valueof 867.68 µg/ml. PH and particle size of all cream is good, but the cream F III, F IV and FV had creaming. F II scent most favored, while the color, consistency and sensation of theskin which is most preferred to the F I. Based on the phytochemical screening, ethanolextract of papaya seeds contain phenols, flavonoids, alkaloids and vitamin C. Keywords: Ethanol Extract of Papaya Seed, Antioxidants, DPPH.

Abstract

Antibacterial liquid soap help prevent the infection of pathogenic bacteria, such as S. aureusand E. coli that can cause skin infection and diarrhea. Red ginger is one of natural plants that hasthe potential as an antibacterial agent in soaps and also known to have antibacterial activity. Soap isformed from the reaction between a fattty acid and base so its quality is affected by the perfection ofthat reaction. The purpose of this study was to determine the optimum composition of VCO andKOH using Simplex Lattice Design (SLD) and its physicochemical properties. The extraction wasdone by soxletation method using ethanol 96%. Antibacterial test showed that the optimumconcentration of the extract was 50 mg/mL. Soap with variation of the VCO and KOH had specificgravity 0,955-1,045; viscosity 0,3-2,1; pH 9,366-10,566; and free alkali 7,48x10%.The composition of the VCO and KOH that predicted by SLD is 26,386 g VCO and 6,414 g KOH.This optimum formula had specific gravity 1.03148; viscosity 0.723; pH 10,066; and 0.0086% freealkali. Independent two-sample test between the physicochemical properties resulted from the testand results predicted by SLD showed no significant difference (p>0,05). Abstract

The striped snakehead (Channa striata) has been approved can heal cuts and it is s in the same family with Giant snakehead (Channa micropeltes). The giant snakehead oil consists of fatty acid-3and fatty acid-6 and also some other fatty acids which is can help to cure wound healing. Thisresearch aimed to determine the effect of giant snakehead oil which is can help to cure the cuts andthe best dose of giant snakehead oil to accelerate healing process of cuts which is given orally. 15white male Wistar rats (Rattus novergicus) which are divided into 5 groups, there are group 1 asnegative control), group 2 (0,15 ml/kg the rat weight), group 3 (0,3 ml/kg the rat weight), group 4(0,57 ml/kg the rat weight and group 5 as comparison. Each group was given cut on their back with alength of 2 cm, except for the group 5. Then, each group was given the giant snakehead oil for 7 daysand also get controlled of the wound area  on day 0, 1, 3 , 5 and 7. The wound area was measured byusing a programme, that is Macbiophotonic Image J. The data were analyzed by SPSS for Windows17.0 and using One Way ANOVA and also Post-Hoc Tukey HSD test. There are the significantdifferences on day 5 and day 7 (p < 0,05) between all of groups). This result shows that the usage ofgiant snakehead oil can help to cure the wound healing. The dose of 0,57 ml/kg the rat weight has thebest effect in healing process of cuts than group 3 and group 2. The percentage is about 93,19%, forgroup 3 (0,3 ml/kg the rat weight) is about 87,30% and for the group 2 (0,15 ml/kg the rat weight) is79,43% Keywords : Giant snakehead extract, oil based, cuts, fatty acids

Abstract

Hylocereus polyrhizus Britton and Rose (Red dragon fruit) has been shown tohave antioxidant activity. The fruit mainly contains vitamin C, polyphenol, flavonoid.These compound are able to prevent radicals forming which can cause aging or otherdiseases. This research was aimed to investigate antioxidant efectivity from H. polyrhizus in form of lotion. Formulation of lotion made with 5 concentration from H. polyrhizus methanol extract. There are 0,04; 0,08; 0,16; 0,32 and 0,64%. Lotion antioxidanteffectivity was analyzed with DPPH method and observed physicochemical properties areorganoleptic, dispersive power, adhesion, viscosity and pH. The research showed H.polyrhizus methanol extract had antioxidant effectivity with percent inhibition as big as19,99±0,33; 25,01±0,08; 39,14±0,04; 66,69±0,12 dan 83,37±0,05. Result data analysisshowed significantly different of the antioxidant effectivity test and the physicochemicalproperties test. Dispersive power obtained in the range of 5,55-6,9 cm, adhesion obtainedin the range 56,33-64,67 s, pH obtained in the range 7,81-7,89 and viscosity obtainedwith a value of 40 poise that showed lotion had good physicochemical and in range ofallowable. The physical stability observation of five formula with cycling test methodshowed unstability cause discolouration (oxidation). Abstract

Sambiloto (Andrographis paniculata Ness.) mempunyai berbagai khasiat, salah satunya sebagai antidiare. Untuk menutupi rasa pahit dari sambiloto,sehingga perlu diformulasikan dalam sediaan tablet kunyah. Salah satu bahaneksipien yang digunakan dalam formulasi tablet kunyah adalah pengisi. Manitoldan sukrosa merupakan contoh pengisi yang biasa digunakan dan dapatberpengaruh terhadap proses pembuatan tablet ataupun sifat fisik tablet. Penelitianini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi pengisi manitol-sukrosa terhadapevaluasi sediaan dan hasil tanggapan rasa tablet kunyah ekstrak etanol daunsambiloto. Tablet kunyah diformulasikan dalam 4 kelompok, kelompok Kontrol(Manitol :  Laktosa 80 % : 20 %), Formula 1 (Manitol : Sukrosa 80 % : 20 %),Formula 2 (Manitol : Sukrosa 50 % : 50 %) dan Formula 3 (Manitol : Sukrosa20% : 80%). Formulasi tablet kunyah dilakukan dengan metode granulasi basah.Evaluasi tablet yang dilakukan meliputi organoleptik, keseragaman ukuran,keseragaman bobot, kekerasan, kerapuhan dan waktu hancur serta tanggapan rasa.Analisis dilakukan dengan program R 2.14.1 Packages R commander. Hasilevaluasi tablet menunjukkan adanya mottling pada tablet, keseragaman ukuranberkisar antara 0,433-1,282 cm, keseragaman bobot antara 793,85-804,8 mg,kekerasan antara 5,6-6,02 kg, kerapuhan antara 0,57-1,47 % dan waktu hancurantara 12,28-16,54 menit. Untuk tanggapan rasa, Formula 3 lebih disukaidibandingkan dengan formula lainnya. Secara umum, tablet yang dihasilkan dariseluruh formula memenuhi persyaratan tablet yang baik. Abstract

Sabun cair antibakteri banyak diminati masyarakat, tetapi sabun cairantibakteri yang berbasis bahan alam masih sedikit yang dikembangkan. Salah satubahan alam yang mempunyai aktivitas antibakteri adalah jahe merah (Zingiberofficinale Rosc var rubrum). Basis sabun cair dapat dibuat dengan cara mereaksikanasam lemak dan kalium hidroksida (KOH). Salah satu asam lemak yaitu crude palmoil (CPO). CPO mengandung karotenoid, tokoferol, dan tokotrienol yang sangat baikuntuk kesehatan kulit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan formula optimumsabun cair variasi CPO dan KOH sehingga menghasilkan sifat fisikokimia danaktivitas antibakteri yang baik. Metode yang digunakan untuk memprediksi formulaoptimum adalah simplex lattice design (SLD) dengan program Design Expert 7.1.4.Rancangan formula awal untuk memprediksi formula optimum terdiri dari 5 formuladengan perbandingan CPO dan KOH berturut-turut 0:100, 25:75, 50:50, 75:25, dan100:0. Berdasarkan uji antibakteri ekstrak etanol rimpang jahe merah, diperolehkonsentrasi optimum sebesar 5%. Berdasarkan hasil prediksi dengan menggunakanmetode simplex lattice design diperoleh formula optimum dengan perbandingan CPOdan KOH sebesar 61,9% (CPO) dan 38,1% (KOH), dengan sifat fisikokimia untukbobot jenis sebesar 1,02107 mg/mL, pH sebesar 8,843, viskositas sebesar 14,8218Poise, dan alkali bebas sebesar 0,07614%. Berdasarkan uji T-test one sample denganmenggunakan nilai p> 0,05, mengindikasikan bahwa formula hasil prediksi denganhasil percobaan tidak berbeda secara signifikan. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa metodeSLD bisa digunakan untuk optimasi formula sabun cair ekstrak etanol rimpang jahemerah. Berdasarkan uji antibakteri yang telah dilakukan, formula optimum sabun cairekstrak etanol rimpang jahe merah mempunyai aktivitas antibakteri.
