Abstract

The beauty of Joseph's story has become a byword, long before the arrival of Islam. The Qur'an itself confirms that the story of Joseph is the best (ahsan al-qasas). The study of the Qur'anic text and the New Testament (Genesis 37-50) shows the similarity of the story of Joseph in outline, but also the differences in function and reasoning of the story. The first fact shows the similarity of religious and literary discourse between the Islamic and Jewish communities at the beginning of the coming of Islam, while the second shows the originality of the story of Yusuf in the Qur'an. In the New Testament the story of Joseph emphasizes the history of the journey of a nation, while the Qur'an describes the story of Joseph to strengthen the belief of the Prophet and his followers.

Abstract

Bayani is a typical Arab epicurean based on the text. According to him, the source of knowledge is the text, which in the religious perspective is the Koran and the Hadith. How to get knowledge through earnest: (1) based on the editorial composition of the text being studied through lingistic analysis, (2) based on the qiyas or ambgi method seen from one of three aspects, namely the relationship between ashl and far ', ilbt which is on ashl and far ', and the tendency that unites ashl and far'. In its development, the Bayan Anabgi is not only used to explore the knowledge of the text, but also used to understand the reality of non-physical conditions and to logically interpret physical reality (qiyas al ghaib ‘ala al syahid). Among other things, about metaphysical theories and theological doctrines. Because it is only based on the text, bayani thinking becomes "limited" and focused on things that are accidental rather than substantial, so that it is not able to dynamically follow the historical and social development of this fast society. In fact, the current thinking of Ishbm which is dominated by Bayani fiqhiyah is less able to respond and balance the development of world civilization.

Abstract

Some ideologies of philosophy thinking, such as Rationalism, Empirism, and Positivism which were born in western countries could not be accepted easily in the Muslim countries many years ago. However, the awareness for not to refuse the mindset or western epistemology, finally could be tolerated by the Muslim scholars, such as Muhammad Abid aljabiri who strived to introduce his new theory of Bayani, Burhani, and Irfani. Those three theories are not substantially different from western epistemology. With different rhetoric, aljabiri strived to make his theories became a bridge to the contemporary Islamic thinking. The source of the Bayani thinking theory is from texts or messages from God, while the Burhani thinking theory is from the reality of nature, humanities and religion. Meanwhile, the theory of Irfani thinking is from the experience of the deepest soul or it is called reflective in the term of Isyroqi tradition. In addition, the theories are also as a reflection of his sadness toward the bad reality of the disability of the Arabian people to follow modem civilization.

Abstract

Thinking or ijtihad is not new in the Islamic world. However, what happens in the reality now is the opposite. The western world has dominated several aspects, such as conducting research and experimentation as a form of thinking activities, and have implemented many grand theories in various fields. Therefore, all Muslims must be aware and take action to play a role in the world. Islam is as a divine revelation from God which was revealed to Prophet Muhammad and as a guide to happiness in the world and the Hereafter. The Holy Quran contains the assertion that Islam is meant for all mankind since the Prophet Muhammad is the messenger of God to all mankind. It means that the Arabs and non-Arab nations should apply the teachings of Islam in the same level Besides, as a universal religion, Islam does not depend on a language, place, or time and human groups. Thus the use of Arabic for the Holy Qur’an is actually more of a technical problem concerning the delivery of the message rather than value problem.

Abstract

As the primary needs of human being, food we consume must be halal and good as prescribed by Muslim law which is explicitly stated in Quran and Hadith. Deciding the food is halal or not can be detected from its benefit and disadvantage, and also from its processing. The development of food industry has brought better change both qualitatively and quantitatively on the food. This caused a significant improvement on food ingredients such as preservative and texture of the food. The consumer needs fresh, cheap, and easy-serving as the consequence of practical life. The high demand on economic interest and the complexity of food causes the increase of chemical substance as the preservative, such as formalin. The use of preservative that is to preserve foodstuffs against decay is very dangerous as it brings negative effect to our health. Therefore, the idea of back to nature which promotes the optimal use of natural food must be highly recommended. This can, physiologically, be received easily into our body.

Abstract

In recent years, social scientists have noted a link between religiosity and many standards of physical and psychological well-being. The possibility that religiosity is linked to health and psychological well-being has attracted attention. Many researches indicate that people who are highly engaged in religious pursuits (e.g. those who frequently attend religious services) or who report that religion is a central aspect of their lives tend to have slightly higher psychological well being, slightly depressive symptoms, and slightly longer lives than their less religious counterparts.
