Abstract

Islamic education in Indonesia has long been on the topic of discussion, policies for its development has also been made. However, there are some hindrances in advancing Islamic education. It deals with the unclear paradigm of Islamic education. This article is intended to clarify some platforms of lslamic education in Indonesia. It elaborates three platforms which gives us clear ideas how to develop Islamic education in Indonesia. The madrasa development policy seeks to accommodate three main interests, namely (1) as a vehicle for fostering the spirit or practice of Islamic life; (2) clarifying its orientation to strengthen the existence of madrassas as equals with the school system, as a vehicle for developing intelligent, knowledgeable, personality and productive citizens; and (3) to respond to future demands, in the sense of being able to give birth to humans who have access to the era of globalization, industrialization and the information age.

Abstract

The framework of thinking about modern scholarship tries to break away from the spiritual dimension. Human consciousness is herded towards the secular. As a result, modern Western humans no longer know about the meaning and purpose of life. Then revisions arose in the form of relativizing the absurdities that had been attributed to the scientific method, while at the same time trying to pave the way for the entry of divine values and spiritual dimensions into the basis of scientific epistemology, ontology and axiology. Some even see that value based on revelation (religion) can enter the scientific methodology process. The scientific method can no longer be maintained in a neutral sense in the absolute sense. Postmodern criticism does not eliminate rationality and does not divert human attention from material phenomena to the spiritual world, but complements rationality with philosophical keys that contain world views and religious morality. Nasr's epistemological thinking has significance with modern or postmodern human consciousness, which requires moral awareness and the meaning of life. Nasr offers in the form of religious-spirituality formulations within the framework of modern human thought.

Abstract

The debate over Islamic law is more dominated by practical issues (fiqh) and very rarely touches on theoretical or methodological issues (usul al-fiqh), no exception concerning gender issues. This paper discusses the methodology of Islamic jurisprudence to use as a basis for examining Islamic legal issues. The discussion presents the nuance of a shift in values which in turn demands evaluation of ushul al-fiqh thought. Basically, it is realized that there has been a shift in values that affect the ummah in looking at the problems faced. This influence occurs not only on the practical level but also at the paradigm used in viewing reality. The change in values requires an evaluation of the heritage of the religious study model. Without evaluation efforts, it can be ascertained that ushul al-fiqh increasingly has no place in the debate over the methodology of religious studies. It is the symptom existing today which is also a challenge for those pursuing Islamic law studies. What is stated in this paper is the first step to uncover the stagnation and vacuum of thinking in the field of ushul al-fiqh.

Abstract

The model of learning in teaching moral education widely adopted in Indonesia is the Lecture Question Answer (LQA) method developed from the values induction approach. This method has lent itself to that negative interpretation. The present study attempts at investigating the influences of moral education methods in order to find out a method that is more appropriate to the characteristics and the objectives of moral education in Indonesia. This research is experimental in nature and was performed using a 2x2 factorial design. One independent variable, one moderator variable and one dependent variable were involved in the study. The research subjects were randomly selected from the students of SMP IKIP Malang and they were also randomly assigned to perform research treatments. The subjects’ moral judgment stages were measured using the Kohlberg’s judgment stage structure. A two way anova was then performed to analyze the data. The results show that the method of discussing moral dilemmas is superior to the lecture method. Female students are superior in moral judgment skills than male students.
