Abstract

Semantic analysis on the human structure in The Koran is always interesting to be discussed, especially the one related to the human characterization with its entire symbolical characteristics embedded to the vocabularies applied to them. Human being, in Koran, is termed in many words “Ins, Basyar, Insan, Bani Adam and Naas”. This article does not show the relation between human characters, male and female. Instead, it limits the discussion on the human being portrayed by Koran not considering the division of male and female. In this phase, male and female are the same. They are not burdened by unique load for each male and female human being. Instead, they are given characteristics as human being according to the existence. Existentially, it can be said that human being is a group of living creatures among the other God’s creatures that is divided into two kinds, jin group and ins group. The ins group is the combination between basyar and insan. The first form of human being is Adam who bring forth the descendant so that all human being born after him is called bani Adam. The descendants of Adam living in the nowadays space and time in called naas. Ins, basyar, insan and bani Adam is a particular concept of human being. Such concept is used by God to remind human being, naas, to always remember to their characteristics that they are ins, basyar, insan and bani Adam. They are bounded to the consequence of the concept.

Abstract

This is a plain contrastive descriptive study between two languages, Arabic and Indonesian, especially the contrast between their phonetics, lexical, phonological and syntax levels. The research concludes within that there is similarity and differentiation in its phonetics, lexical, phonological and syntax systems. In phonetics we found a contrast related to consonants and vocals sounds, and also in syllable sounds. In lexical domain, there is a meaning formulated in one word in Arabic language, but in Indonesian language we found it composed of two words, for example: ?????? ????? ????? ??????, rumah sakit, makan siang, makan malam and others. In the phonology, it is found out that Arabic language is an etymological language and the Indonesian language is an affix language, and Arabic language adopt systems of masculine, feminine, singular, dual (mutsanna) and plural which is different from Indonesian language. In syntax of Indonesian language, we found that the meaning is defined by the combination of the words and its position, it is based on subject combination (nominal clause), in other hand we found that the Arabic language is a syntax language (lughah mu’rabah), the meaning is defined by the syntax (al i’rab) and it adopts both of nominal clause and verbal clause. Those Arabic phenomena which are not adopted by Indonesian language should be taken into account in learning and teaching Arabic Language by the Indonesians.

Abstract

Language is a category for referring to a particular object. It represents reality, not the reality itself. Therefore, language is basically partial, does not represent something completely. For that reason, it is difficult for us to name a certain object because not all of languages provide them. In our empirical world, it is difficult to select an appropriate language to represent reality. Moreover, Koran language emphasize the aspect of belief and understanding. So, in the effort to overcome the language stagnancy, it is very realistic to find out metaphorical and analogous language in Koran. It is due to the fact that metaphor and analogy can bridge the limited human ratio and the unlimited Koran.

Abstract

Substantially, “Tasawuf” as the way towards God had been existing since the prophet age; but it was just at the end of the second Hijriyah this term that was known as zuhud became then popularly known as tasawuf. After Islam develops, marked by variety of traditions and sciences as the result of the contribution of various culture expressed through knowledge, tasawuf becomes clear in Islam. Some intellectuals don’t see tasawuf as pure Islam, because some teachings related to certain rituals reflect some tradition and culture. Many intellectuals agreed to Nasr’s opinion, and there are many western intellectuals know tasawuf (Sufism) better than Islam. Now tasawuf has been considered by many people as a universal spiritual value and it is as eternal as Islam. Syawqi Doif, an Arabic intellectual who wrote a lot about the history of Arabic culture and literature, in his book entitled al-Tarikh al-Adab fi al-Ashr al-Abbasyi al-Tsani, especially about zuhud and tasawuf. This paper discussed about tasawuf followed by poems written by mutashawwifin discussing about sufi’s terms. Many sufis left behind them literary works which describe the way they believe. The writer quoted and discussed some poems based on his understanding. Keywords

Abstract

Widely used in the world, English has grown to many varieties in which one of them is everyday Singlish. Singlish is a kind of English spoken by Singaporean com¬munities in informal situations. In everyday Singlish lexi¬cons not found in original English are ubiquitously used. The area of concern of etlinosemantics is the one with the appearance of the lexical semantics in a certain language. These lexicons have certain meanings, flavours and nu¬ances that make a language specific and unique. This is due to the fact that this specific lexicon use has a close connection with a particular culture and race. The study of eth¬noserr-antics in everyday Singlish shows that the unique¬ness is closely related with Singaporean cultures. There fore, the study of ethnosemanties which is explorable from local varieties will help understand the cultures, the charac¬teristics and the life of Singaporeans as a speech community.
