Abstract

AbstractThis research-based writing focuses on the application of Brown & Levinson's (1987) politeness strategies in the speech act of requête (request) of the Version Originale; the French learning book used in many universities and French language learning centres in Indonesia. The analysis of this textbook uses qualitative methods and data collection is conducted by using documentation techniques. This book included a lot of speech acts of request in the form of dialogue. The results showed that the prominent politeness strategy of request in the Méthode de français Version Originale is the Negative Politeness Strategy. Negative politeness strategies are formal politeness strategies that refer to respecting the personal interests (privacy) of the hearer. The fact that this negative politeness strategy is mostly used in Version Originale confirms the statement of Kerbrat-Orecchioni (2001) stating that there is no doubt that negative politeness strategy are very much present in French conversations.Keywords: Politeness, speech-acts, request, Version Originale AbstrakTulisan berbasis penelitian ini berfokus pada aplikasi strategi kesantunan Brown & Levinson (1987) dalam tindak tutur requête (meminta) pada Méthode de français Version Originale yang dipakai di berbagai universitas dan pusat pembelajaran bahasa Prancis di Indonesia. Analisis buku teks ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dan penjaringan data dilakukan dengan teknik dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa buku ini banyak memasukkan tindak tutur requête dalam teks dialog. Selanjutnya strategi kesantunan tindak tutur requête yang paling banyak pada Méthode de français Version Originale adalah strategi kesantunan negatif (Negative Politeness Strategy). Strategi kesantunan negatif adalah strategi kesantunan yang bersifat formal yang merujuk pada tindakan menghormati kepentingan pribadi (privacy) dari mitra tutur. Fakta bahwa strategi kesantunan negatif ini merupakan strategi kesantunan yang paling banyak digunakan dalam buku metode pembelajaran bahasa Prancis version originale sesuai dengan pernyataan Kerbrat-Orecchioni (2001) yang menyatakan bahwa tidak diragukan lagi bahwa strategi kesantunan negatif sangat banyak terdapat pada percakapan di Prancis. Abstract

Abstract  One of the most perfect revealer of modality is pouvoir. At the time of speech acts realization, this verb will present various grammatical and lexical forms such as tense, modus and aspect which are categorized as manasuka elements in Indonesian (Samsuri 1981: 248). Modus can function as the revealer of modality, revealing act of speaker to what they said (Riegel et al.), while Le Querlier (1996: 13) said that modus, temps (tense) and aspect are overlapping in French. The three elements will be analyzed with intralingual equivalent method with hubung banding menyamakan technique (HBS). The revealer of modality in Indonesian is not using tense as adverb of time. Aspect is shown with imperfective and perfective aspect that reveal modality in French. Keywords: Modality, Pouvoir, Overlapping  Abstrak Salah satu verba pengungkap modalitas yang paling sempurna adalah verba pouvoir (Benveniste, 1974: 188). Pada saat merealisir tindak tutur, verba ini akan serta-merta menghadirkan bentuk-bentuk gramatikal dan leksikal yang beragam seperti kala, modus dan aspek yang dalam bahasa Indonesia dikategorikan sebagai unsur-unsur manasuka (Samsuri (1981: 248)). Modus dapat berfungsi sebagai pengungkap modalitas, mengungkapkan sikap penutur terhadap apa yang dituturkannya (Riegel et al., 2004: 287), sementara itu Le Querlier (1996: 13) mengemukakan modus, temps (kala) dan aspek tumpang-tindih dalam bahasa Perancis. Ketiga unsur itu akan dianalisis dengan menggunakan metode padan intralingual dengan teknik hubung banding menyamakan (HBS) (Mahsun, 2011: 304). Pengungkap modalitas dalam bahasa Indonesia tidak menggunakan kala tetapi dengan keterangan waktu. Aspek ditunjukkan dengan aspek imperfektif dan perfektif yang mengungkapkan modalitas dalam bahasa Perancis.Kata kunci: Modalitas, Pouvoir, Tumpang-Tindih

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study analyzed the types of sentences used in the Abstracts of Journal Articles written by 10 Female and 10 Male fully sourced from the Book Program of The First Annual International Seminar UNIMED Medan: November 19, 2016. Of the 195 sentences, 102 of which were written by females, and 92   by Males, all types of sentences are present. The occurrence of the types of sentence used by Females is Simple Sentence (50.1%), Complex Sentence (37.1%), Complex - Compound Sentence (6.8%),  and Compound Sentence (4.9%).  By Males , Simple Sentence  is (50.%), Complex Sentence (41%),  Compound Sentence  (5.4%) and Complex- Compound Sentence (3.3%). Thus, this proves that the frequency is only different in Complex-Compound, i.e. by Females in the third place, but by Males in the fourth and Compound in the third.  Overall, it can be concluded that gender has no relation with sentence types.Key Words: Types of sentence; Female and Male; Abstracts

Abstract

Abstract  Ethics in the learning process is the relationship between teacher and student involvement that affects the learning process to run smoothly. In this pandemic covid-19 era, all activities are done by online, both in the world of work and education, including teaching and learning activities at schools and universities. Students and teachers have various complaints related to the online teaching and learning process. This research conducted by using quantitative descriptive, which the instrument is questioner contains 10 questions, and the sample is 42 college students randomly. The objective of this study to identify students' ethics in online learning process and the result revealed all the aspects to examine students’ ethics are still normal as well as in classroom which almost all students still wear polite clothes, pay attention to the teacher, active in learning, discipline, responsive, take a note about teachers explanation.Keywords: Ethics, Student, Online Learning Process.

Abstract

AbstractThis study is about the cognitive level of reading exercises in an English textbook for eleventh grade students based on Revised Bloom’s Taxonomy. The objective of the study was to investigate the distribution of the higher order thinking skills in the reading exercises of students’ textbooks entitled Bahasa Inggris which is published by the Ministry of Education and Culture. This study was conducted by using descriptive qualitative method. The data of this study were the reading texts’ exercises in the textbook. The result of this study was the reading exercises in Bahasa Inggris textbook covered all of the cognitive levels, they are Remembering (43.90%), Understanding (20.73%), Applying (6.1%), Analyzing (1.83%), Evaluating (1.22%), and Creating (26.22%). Thus, the distribution of higher order thinking skills (analyzing, evaluating, and creating) in the textbook was 29.27%, and for the lower order thinking skills obtained 70.73%. Thus, reading exercises developed in Bahasa Inggris textbook provided Higher Order Thinking Skills questions to students at the eleventh grade.Key words: Higher Order Thinking Skills; Reading Exercises; Revised Bloom’s Taxonomy

Abstract

AbstractLanguage becomes a necessary thing because it helps the world having the interaction. In addition, a language is a structured system of communication used by humans. Languages consist of spoken sounds in spoken languages or written elements in written languages. There are some functions of language such as communication, the expression of identity, play, imaginative expression, and emotional release. Additionally, a language may consist of other symbolic elements like hand gestures in sign languages. Language becomes a necessary thing because it helps the world having the interaction. There are some functions of language such as communication, the expression of identity, play, imaginative expression, and emotional release. Human needs social life and social life need human. The functions of language give big impact to many aspects especially in social life. Abstract

ABSTRACTThe existence of internet facilities that have been provided by the Universitas pembinaan masyarakat indonesia can support the improvement of the learning system by utilizing these internet facilities, as well as responding to the challenges of the industrial revolution era in Indonesian community development universities. The objectives of this study were (1) to analyze the effect of using web-based learning methods by not using these methods on student test scores (2) to develop a practical and effective learning system. The research method used is quantitative with an experimental approach. Where students majoring in English education as a research subject. The method is applied for one semester. The results of the determination were obtained from the pre-test and post-test results by filling in the provided google form and analyzing the results of the scores of the two tests using the SPSS application to obtain independent samples T-test. From the analysis, it was obtained that the sig (2-tailed) value was .000 where from the basis of the decision making, if the sig. (2-tailed) value <0.05, then there was a significant difference between the results of the pretest and postest scores. The pretest value, namely before using web-based learning methods and posttest, namely after using web-based learning methods carried out on 27 English education students, it can be seen that there is an increase in the test result score of each student. So that web-based learning methods can be used as an alternative in improving the quality of English learning at Universitas pembinaan masyarakat indonesia. Keywords: e-learning, web, EnglishABSTRAKAdanya fasilitas internet yang telah disediakan universitas pembinaan masyarakat indonesia dapat mendukung peningkatan sistem pembelajaran dengan memanfaatkan fasilitas internet tersebut, sekaligus menjawab tantangan era revolusi industri di universitas pembinaan masyarakat indonesia. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah (1) menganalisis pengaruh penggunaan metode pembelajaran berbasis web dengan tidak menggunakan metode tersebut terhadap nilai uji mahasiswa (2) mengembangkan sistem pembelajaran yang praktis dan efektif. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan pendekatan eksperimental. Dimana mahasiswa/mahasiswi jurusan pendidikan bahasa inggris sebagai subjek penelitian. Penerapan metode tersebut dilakukan selama satu semester. Hasil penetian diperoleh dari hasil pre-test dan post-test melalui pengisian google form yang telah disediakan dan menganalisis hasil nilai dari kedua pengujian tersebut dengan menggunakan aplikasi SPSS untuk memperoleh independent samples T-test. Dari hasil analisis diperoleh nilai sig (2-tailed) sebesar .000 dimana dari dasar pengambilan keputusan jika nilai sig.(2-tailed) < 0,05, maka terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara hasil nilai pretest dan postest. Nilai pretest yaitu sebelum menggunakan metode pembelajaran berbasis web dan postest yaitu setelah menggunakan metode pembelajaran berbasis web yang dilakukan pada 27 mahasiswa pendidikan bahasa inggris dapat dilihat adanya peningkatan nilai hasil tes setiap mahasiswa. Sehingga metode pembelajaran berbasis web dapat dijadikan alternatif dalam peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran bahasa inggris di universitas pembinaan masyarakat indonesia. Kata kunci: E-learning, web, bahasa inggris
