Abstract

Abstract  Since the development of increasingly sophisticated technology has resulted in many shifts in the function of electronics. People are starting to reduce their intensity of using manual television with the use of more sophisticated digital television. Digital television has many advantages over manual television which tends to contain only certain information channels. While digital television has a wider channel even to neighboring countries. Not only that, the public is also able to enjoy broadcasts from their respective devices just by downloading digital television applications such as Viu, Netflix, Iflix, WeTV, Vidio and so on. In this study, researchers took samples based on the titles of soap operas broadcast on Vidio.com or on Indosiar tv broadcasts using Sara Mills' critical discourse analysis. The method used is a critical paradigm based on a qualitative approach. This method focuses attention on the discourse of feminism. How women are shown in the text, whether in novels, pictures, photos or news. Then Sara Mills also pays attention to the position of the subject-object and the position of the reader.Keywords: sara mills, feminism, soap operas  Abstrak Sejak berkembangnya teknologi yang semakin canggih mengakibatkan banyaknya pergeseran fungsi dari elektronik. Masyarakat mulai mengurangi intensitasnya menggunakan televisi manual dengan penggunaan televisi digital yang lebih canggih. Televisi digital memiliki banyak kelebihan dibandingkan televisi manual yang cenderung berisi channel informasi tertentu saja. Sedangkan televisi digital memiliki channel yang lebih luas bahkan hingga ke negeri tetangga. Tidak hanya itu, masyarakat juga sudah mampu menikmati siaran-siaran dari gawai masing-masing hanya dengan mendownload aplikasi tv digital seperti Viu, Netflix, Iflix, WeTV, Vidio dan sebagainya. Pada penelitian ini peneliti mengambil sampel berdasarkan judul-judul Sinetron tayangan pada Vidio.com atau pada siaran tv Indosiar dengan menggunakan analisis wacana kritis Sara Mills. Metode yang digunakan adalah paradigma kritis berdasarkan pendekatan kualitatif. Metode ini memfokuskan perhatian pada wacana feminisme. Bagaimana wanita ditampilkan dalam teks baik dalam novel, gambar, foto ataupun berita. Kemudian Sara Mills juga memperhatikan posisi subjek-objek serta posisi pembaca.Kata kunci: sara mills, feminisme, sinetron

Abstract

Abstract  The purposes of this study was to determine student perceptions of the use of zoom meetings and whatsapp in leaning to write popular scientific aticles during the pandemic. This study uses qualitative descriptive research method which aims to describe the analysis of the results of questionnaires, interviews, and literature studies. The subject and objects in the study were Sebelas Maret University stundets as many as 121 respondent in semesters I and III who had the status of taking Indonesian General Courses online in odd semesters. Data collection techniques were carried out by distributing online questionnaires, interviews, and literature studies. The results showed that the zoom meeting dan whatsapp applications can provide convenience in online learning (52,1% agree), make it easier for students to understand learning (65,3% agree), learning is more flexible (64,5% agree), the use of applications make learning complicated (70,2% disagree), students become more confident (66,1% agree), it is easy for students to consult related to assignments with lecturers (62% agree), high learning motivation (72,7% agree), relevant to use in learning to write scientifict articles during the pandemic (66,9% agree), increasing creativity (70,2 agree), respond to questions and ions in learning (57% strongly agree), effectively used in learning to write populer scientific articles (62% agree), become a learning solution during a pandemic (66,1% agree) lecturer and stundent interactions student become more familiar (57 agree), and value obtained will increase (57,9% agree). It can be concluded that the use of zoom meetings and whatsapp in leaning to write popular scientific articles gets a good perception from students and lecturers are advised to always motivate students to take part in online learning. Keywords: Perception, Zoom Meeting, WhatsApp, Writing Learning, Popular Article

Abstract

Abstract  This study related with blended learning used by the teachers in teaching writing descriptive text. This study was qualitatively conducted that involved English teachers. The data were collected by using recording, interview and observing the whole processes of teaching writing. The findings of this study showed that teachers used the three processes in blended learning setting, such as: conventional learning, emphasizes learning actively and interactive learning. It was also found that the use of blended learning was used in the scientific approach activity. And the steps in the scientific approaches applied in learning process in three activities, beginning activity, core activity, and closing activity. There were four problems faced by teachers in using blended learning by two platforms such as the problem of the traditional mind - set, the problem of managing, assessing learner progress, bandwidth, and confusion in using the application. Teachers faced different problems in the learning process.Keywords: Blended learning, teaching, writing, descriptive text, learning process.

Abstract

 AbstractRoasting is one of the comedic techniques used to criticize an individual, where this roasting will convey information related to that individual which is delivered accompanied by a sense of humor. This method of criticizing by roasting has been very popular in the eyes of the public in recent years. One of the comedians who is famous for using this roasting technique is Kiki Syaputri, she is a stand-up comedy finalist. His name became famous since he roasted several famous officials in Indonesia. One of the officials who was roasted by Kiky Syahputri was a Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) named Erick Thohir. The roasting will be analyzed by discourse with Norman Faircligh's theory. The research method is descriptive qualitative. This research will obtain analysis results from the dimensions of text, discourse practice, and sociocultural practice.Keywords: Roasting, Erick Thohir, Norman Fairclough, Discourse AbstrakRoasting merupakan salah satu teknik komedi yang digunakan untuk mengkeritik suatu individu, dimana roastingan ini akan menyampaikan informasi yang berhubungan dengan suatu individu tersebut yang dibawakan dengan diiringi dengan suatu humor. Cara mengkritik dengan meroasting ini sudah sangat populer di mata masyarakat beberapa tahun ini. Salah satu komedian yang terkenal sering menggunakan teknik roasting ini adalah Kiki Syaputri, beliau merupakan seorang finalis stand-up komedi. Namanya mulai terkenal semenjak beliau meroasting beberapa pejabat terkenal yang ada di Indonesia. Salah satu pejabat yang pernah di roasting oleh Kiky Syahputri adalah seorang mentri Badan Usaha Milik Negara (BUMN) yang bernama Erick Thohir. Roastingan tersebut akan di analisis wacana dengan teorinya Norman Fairclough. Adapaun metode penelitian adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study deals with the grammatical intricacy and lexical density of reading texts of English textbook for senior high school students grade XII. The objectives of this study are to investigate the level of grammatical intricacy (GI), and lexical density (LD) of the reading texts of English Textbook. This study was conducted by using descriptive qualitative and content analysis design. The data of this study were simple clauses, clauses complexes, sentences, lexical items and content carrying lexical items (nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs) of the English reading texts of Look Ahead 3, English textbook for senior high school grade XII published by Erlangga 2007. The result of the analysis showed that: (1).The level of grammatical intricacy of four out of six reading texts is high (3.53, 2.3, 2.71, and 2.25) and the other two texts are medium (2) and low (1.83). (2).The level of lexical density of four out of six reading texts are low (42.67%, 45.93%, 48.47%, and 36.99%) and the other two texts are high (58.36, and 55.40%). Keywords: grammatical intricacy; lexical density; reading texts

Abstract

 Abstract   The popularity of film as an object in literary studies creates many adaptations of literary works from the written form into a film. The meaning of the film as a representation of the reality of society is different from the film which is merely a reflection of reality. As a reflection of reality, films only transfer reality to the screen without changing that reality. Meanwhile, as a representation of reality, films shape and re-present reality based on the codes, conventions, and ideologies of culture. The Enola Holmes film is the result of the novel by Nancy Springer, namely The Case of the Missing Marquess: An Enola Holmes Mystery which was later made into a film by Herry Bradbeer. The film was set around the Victorian era in the nineteenth century in England. The purpose of this study is to determine the meaning of the semiotic code regarding feminism at the level of reality and the level of ideology. The research approach used is a qualitative approach with John Fiske's semiotic analysis. The results of the research on the representation of feminism on the character of Enola Holmes in this semiotic analysis show that (1) the representation of feminism at the reality level includes appearance, costume, make-up, the way of speaking, expression, attitude, behavior, environment, and movement, (2) representation of feminism in the ideological level, which is represented by the flow of liberal feminism where discrimination against women is treated unfairly as in the character of Enola Holmes. Keywords: Enola Holmes; Feminism; Film; John Fiske; Semiotic  Abstrak  Popularitas film sebagai sebuah objek dalam kajian sastra menciptakan banyaknya adaptasi karya sastra dari bentuk tulisan ke dalam sebuah film. Dalam beberapa dekade, sederet film yang sukses secara komersil maupun apresiasi akademis merupakan hasil transformasi dari karya sastra, khususnya novel. Makna film sebagai representasi dari realitas masyarakat berbeda dengan film yang sekedar sebagai refleksi dari realitas. Sebagai refleksi dari realitas, film hanya sekedar memindahkan realitas ke layar tanpa mengubah realitas itu. Sementara itu, sebagai representasi dari realitas, film membentuk dan menghadirkan kembali realitas berdasarkan kode-kode, konvensi-konvensi dan ideologi dari kebudayaan. Film Enola Holmes merupakan hasil dari novel karya Nancy Springer, yakni The Case of the Missing Marquess: An Enola Holmes Mystery yang kemudian diangkat menjadi film oleh Herry Bradbeer. Film ini mengambil latar sekitar zaman Victoria pada abad ke sembilan belas di Inggris. Pada masa itu, kaum perempuan masih terikat dengan standar sosial, stigma dan diskriminasi. Isu feminisme tentu menarik perhatian karena selama ini perempuan sering digambarkan hanya sebagai objek narasi yang pasif, pemeran sampingan, bahkan objek erotis utama dalam film. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui makna kode semiotika mengenai feminisme dalam level realitas dan level ideologi. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan analisis semiotika John Fiske. Hasil penelitian representasi feminisme pada tokoh Enola Holmes dalam analisis semiotika ini menunjukkan bahwa (1) representasi feminisme pada level realitas mencankup penampilan, kostum, tata rias, cara berbicara, ekspresi, sikap, perilaku, lingkungan, dan gerakan, (2) representasi feminisme pada level ideologi yakni terepresentasi mewakili aliran feminisme liberal di mana diskriminasi perempuan diperlakukan tidak adil seperti pada tokoh Enola Holmes. Kata kunci: Enola Holmes; Feminism; Film; John Fiske; Semiotic

Abstract

 AbstrakAnalisis wacana kritis pada penelitian ini  menggunakan Teori Norman Fairclogh. Teori Fairclough menganggap  bahwa wacana adalah sebagai teks. Dalam penelitian ini, data yang dihasilkan penulis bersifat deskriptif. Data yang diperoleh tidak dapat dilihat dari benar atau salah, tetapi disajikan  secara sistematis, berdasarkan fakta dan nyata. Penulis mengambil berita media daring tentang “Pemberitaan Menteri Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan”. Penulis mengambil data dari 3 media daring, yaitu :news.detik.com, poskota.co.id dan wartaekonomi.com. Dalam hal ini, penulis mendapat hasil penelitian bahwa Newsdetik.com dan poskota.co.id memfokuskan pemberitaan sisi negatif Luhut yang tidak mau menunjukkan Big Data Penundaan Pemilu. Sedangkan wartaekonomi.com memfokuskan berita bahwa betapa besarnya kekuatan Luhut, sehingga Menteri-menteri lain, bahkan seorang Presiden pun tidak bisa menolak perkataan Luhut.               Kata Kunci: Norman Fairclough, Media Daring, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan
