Abstract

This study aims to describe the level of multicultural education and deradicalization,  and analyze the influence of Islamic education multicultural to de-radicalization  of religion. The research was conducted students  of teaching primary Faculty Eduacation  and Teaching IAIN SMH Banten. The methodology used is quantitative correlation;  using a Likert  scale questionnaire  with five choice. The results show: First, the level multicutural  Islamic education and de-radicalization  of the religion were high and satisfactory. Secondly  there  is positive  and significant  multicultural Islamic education    to   the   deradicalization   of   religion   among   the students. The influence of multicultural Islamic education to de- radicalization of religion by 39.69 %. The higher the multicultural education Islamic the higher the de-radicalization of religion. De- radicalization  of religion on students  can be improved  through multicultural islamic education.  Therefore the university  should implement multiculturalism in all aspects of campus life that de- radicalization  religion among students higher.

Abstract

Globalization presents a paradox. On the one aspect shows the progress of science technology, but on the other aspect there are the threats  of a nation’s  morale. Main ideas in the  field of Islamic education in the era of globalization is the active participation  in organizing human needs in a comprehensive manner. In this context, dealing with competition Islamic education  are  locally, nationally,  and internationally.  Islamic education must still exist in yeast to give color and trend of globalization.  Therefore, Islamic education must be developed both theories, ideas and concrete action in the arena of globalization.  Global world may not  be denied, even just  to be faced with evidence of real performance. One of which is being used as Indonesian republican government policy is the implementation  of the curriculum in 2013. The curriculum is known as thematic integrative curriculum. However, among the thinkers and practitioners in education curriculum concept store is still a big question whether the issue will be resolved through the  Indonesian national  curriculum in 2013?  Answering this question needs a comprehensive review of the entire sub-system of education in Indonesia. Islamic education is an important part of a real existence in Indonesia from age to age. The existence of a real Islamic education is a real need to provide effect and active coloring toward the advancement of science and technology, as urged in the era of globalization.

Abstract

Religious  affiliation  and cultural diversity has become potential sources of social conflicts in Indonesia.  As almost every existing religion has a truth  claim, all of it’s  believers   fell   obliged to proclaim   religious  teachings  and values in social and national life. Viewed in this  context  , the biggest  problem in Indonesia today is “ how  theology of existing religions define themselves among   other  religions . This article  is aimed at exploring   the concept of “Tasamuh / the principle of tolerance”   as one of  the theological  basis  of the  religious  consciousness    in Islam. The concept  of tolerance  in Islam  is so simple  and rational.  Islam requires its followers to establish  strict  limits in the context  of faith,  while maintaining  respect  for other’s  rights,  individually, socially and religiously.   Such an obligation  is made to keep its followers not to get stuck on syncretism.

Abstract

This research aims to describe preventive strategies and solutions to the spread of cults  or misleading  religious sects  in common universities  (non-religion based universities). Bogor Agricultural university  (IPB) as one of the non-religion,  was selected  as the location of the research. Case study technique was used since the research was qualitative  in nature. The data were collected using interviews,   document  analysis,  and  participatory  observation. The results of the research showed that the preventive strategies over the spread of cults or misleading religious sects in IPB were generally performed through  : (1) formal academic activities  in lectures and tutorials of Islamic religion subject; (2) stadium general;  (3)  weekly  religious  studies  within  campus  mosques; (4)  religious development  within IPB dormitories  for first year students; (5) Tarbawi Forum at Al-Hurriyyah (MTA); (6) religious seminars.

Abstract

This  study  aims  to   describe  the  level  of understanding  short letters of the Qur’an about tolerance and pluralism attitude;  and analyze the effects of short letters of understanding Qur’an about tolerance  towards  pluralism  attitude.  This  research  on religius junior secondary school students Nurul Yaqin Ciledug Tangerang City  Banten  Province.  The  instrument  for understanding  short letters   of  the  Qur’an  about  tolerance   using  multiple   choice test with three option. Pluralism attitude instrument using a questionnaire  with  three  options.  The results  show: Firstly,  the level of understanding  short letters of the Qu’an about tolerance reaches 74.31 % in the high category  and the level of pluralism attitude  reaches 82.48 % included in the high category. Secondly there is positive and significant understanding of short letters of the Qur’an about tolerance towards pluralism attitude.  The influence understanding  of short  letters  of the Qur’an about  tolerance  to pluralism  attitude  of 29.52 % . The rest is influenced  by other factors remains to be investigated. The higher understanding  of short letters of the Qur’an about tolerance the higher attitude  of pluralism. Increased pluralism student attitudes can be improved through an increased understanding of the short letters of the Qur’an about tolerance.

Abstract

History records that the process of Islamization in the archipelago lasted peacefully.  It  was under such peaceful  process that made Islam became  the  religion  of the  majority  of people  who   had previuosly embraced Hinduism , Buddhism , and traditional religion.   Some factors that influenced the success of the Islamization  process are identified mainly in the form of cultural approach  rather than the use of  violence and military force.  The recent trend, however, shows that there is a shift in the methods of religious  propaganda.  Many muslim missionaries  tend  to be intolerant,  rigid, self-righteous,  even with their fellow muslims. Some even use violence  such as damaging  a place of worship, or prevent  others  to  worship.  This  study  tries  to   identify  the approaches, methods, and multicultural tendency of Abdurrahman Wahid ( Gus Dur ), who preaches Islam with friendly and peaceful manners by respecting differences and the rights of every person.

Abstract

Discussing   themes or concepts  of Islamic   government   system seems to be an endles activity as a great number of books  written by muslim intellectuals  from  time to time  continously   appear. the present  day.   This paper tries to explore ideas and political thought of one Muslim intellectual  , Muhammad Husayn Haykal. After a thorough scrutinization to his works,  this  study finds out that his conception of political thought was based on the Oneness of Allah (Tauhidiyah).   In addition, he also identified three basic principles of humanism upon which Islamic state should be based, namely : the principles of human brotherhood,  of human equality, and of human freedom. Haykal also asserted  that   the   form of constitutional state is preferable  as compared to others .

Abstract

Egypt is the ‘Mecca’ of modern Islamic thoughts.  From Egypt, Islamic   thoughts,   both   secular   and   traditional,    have   been distributed  to all parts of the Islamic world. In his book, Jacob Hoigilt seeks to record and present the fierce discourse between Islamism vis-a-vis West-secularism from the perspective of linguistic disciplines. The authors conducts a critical analysis of the language (language/parole)  used by Islamic thinkers  in their polemic about Islamism, its meaning construction, as well as social situation underlying the polemic in Egypt. The author thoroughly scrutinizes  the texts of the islamist   thinkers, as well as clarifies the issues of symbolic power struggles, orthodoxy, and ideology that divide the intellectuals  into liberalist and Islamist poles.

Abstract

The quality control of education in Madrasas (islamic schools) can be done through three ways, i. e teacher competency enhancement, school  accreditation, and,  lastly,  students’  achievement  in  the National  Examination.   This  research  was  conducted  to  study the impacts   of school accreditation among the madrasas on the teachers  competency    and  students’  achievement  in    national test. The method used is  so called ex post facto   involving 220 teachers taken from 73 madrasas  existing in 4 provinces namely: Jakarta,  Central  Java, South  Sulawesi  and South  Sumatra.  The study reveals that (1) There is no significant difference   in performance  between  teachers  teaching  in accredited  madrasas and  non  accredited;    (2)  There  is  a   significant  difference  in teacher performance in every level of accreditation; (3) There is a significant  difference between   in the teachers performance   in the accredited “B” madrasa and in the accredited “C” ; (4) There is a significant  difference  in   the  achievement  of the  National Examination   between  students   from  the  accredited   madrasas and non-acredited;  (5) There is no significant  difference  in the results  of National  Examination  in all levels of acreditation  (A, B or C).  Based on these facts, it can be concluded that   school accreditation of the  madrasas  has real impacts  on the  teachers competency  and students’ achievement in  national test.
