It was intended to get the subject with the criteria of mothers from poor families, having the children of 6 to 59 months of age with good nutrition status and in possession of Kartu Menuju Sehat/KMS (Growth Monitoring Chart). The second step was carried out exploration. It was intended to explore and in this research three approaches had been applied, namely by combining the three methods of in depth interview, documentation study, and observation to cross check the data as well as to keep validity of the data. The third step taken in this research was applied the qualitative analysis. It was intended to analyze the practice of nutrition caring pattern by the family upon good nutrition status on children of 6 to 59 months of age at the poor families (positive deviance) at Sub-district of Arjasa, Regency of Jember. Abstract

Anxiety is a condition where individual or group has anxious feeling (estimate/opinion) and the act of nervous system to respond a vague threat,non-spesific.This research uses Pre-Experiment design with a frame of Pre-Post Test design without control, purpose to identify the influence of therapheutic communication toward the decrease of patient’s anxiety level for Pre-Operation patients cured in Surgery Room RSU in Jember Regency using Consecutive Sampling technigue. The intervention process uses introduction of analytical therapheutic communikative intraction process. A result of the process applies on regres test on which t calculation is much bigger than t table, that is 4,479 > 2,093. In conclusion, every Pre-operation patient has anxiety, and therapheutic communication give meaningful and significant influence to decrease Pre-operation of patient’s anxiety level. As remmendation, in this research, the therapheutic communication done well will be able to decrease patien’s anxiety level so it must be applied in nursing service especially Pre-operation. Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) still becomes a urgent health problem in the world. According to WHO report, the one-third population is infected by Mycobacterium tuberculosa (M.tb), and there were more or less two million people per year who died caused by this disease. The spreading of the disease in Tanggul is still high. The objective of this research was to analysis the risk of lighting, ventilation and overcrowding of the house that causing the TB cases. This research was an observational analytic research using case control study design. The number of samples of this research was 64 respondents which consisted of 16 cases and 48 controls. The cases were the people who had positive TB Acid-Fast Bacill(AFB). The controls were the people who were not affected by TB. The Odds ratio analyses were used to find the risk of variable by calculating confident interval. The analysis showed that the less lighting were 4.2 times (95%Cl  1.181-14.937), less ventilation were 5.571 times (95%CI  1.403-22.120) and over crowding were 3.987 times (95%CI  1.006-15.802) more likely to have TB cases. It was suggested to lead people to always open the windows and doors every morning, and to use roofs from glass. Keywords: TB, lighting, ventilation, overcrowding

Abstract

The premature delivery is one of the main risk factors of low birth weight and perinatal mortality. In Indonesia, the incidence of premature delivery is 10% whereas it is just 4% in the developed countries. The mortality rate caused by low birth weight is increasing from 6.8 per 1000 in 2001 to 7 per 1000 in a year period.  Nowadays, the effort to reduce the perinatal mortality rate is still counting on neonatal intensive care which has highly cost. The aim of this study is to know profoundly about the attributes of premature deliveries at RSUD Dr Soebandi Jember between January 1st , 2003 and December 31st, 2005. The data were mainly obtained from the medical records of obstetry and ginaecology ward and 168 premature deliveries were included in this study. The result showed that among 168 premature deliveries, 75% of deliveries was conducted on indication. Factors that induced premature deliveries are placental dislocation, gestational hipertention, sistemic disturbance, pelvic head disproportion, and gemelli. The premature deliveries on gestational age were G1 / primigravida (43%), G2 (30%), G3 (11%), G4 (8%) and G5 or more (9%). The highest frequency of premature deliveries was on 20 - 35 year old women (70%). The most APGAR score of premature deliveries was 0 -3 (severe respiratory distress). Finally, the premature deliveries tend to be commonplace at woman with primigravida, 20-35 year old women and the outcome of them is generally worse to the baby. Abstract

Bacterial contamination of fresh milk may start when milk is taken from dairy cow’s teat. Accordingly, the hygiene of cow’s udder before milking must be taken into account. Unhygienic cow’s udder may produce milk of low quality. In order to reduce the potential for bacterial contamination of fresh milk, it is necessary to apply disinfectant to cow’s udder before milking. This research aims to analyse the difference in fresh milk bacteriological content in relation to application and non-application of disinfectant to dairy cow’s udder prior to milking, which is located in the “Karunia” Dairy Cow Breeding, village of Jong Biru, Regency of Kediri. This is a purely experimental research. The research design used was the Post-test with control group in which a replication was performed twice. A simple stratified random sampling was organized of which the samples criteria comprised lactating dairy cow that did not suffer from mastitis. The number of the required samples was 10 Holstein dairy cows for control group and 10 Holstein-Friesian dairy cows for treatment group.  The data analysis used was the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, which was followed by the Mann-Whitney non-parametric test with . The results of research indicate that the fresh milk bacteriological content of treatment group is lower than the fresh milk bacteriological content of control group. Results of analysis also show p=0,000 which means that there is a significant difference between the cow’s udder in the “Karunia” Dairy Cow Breeding which is cleaned by warm water mixed with disinfectant before milking and the one which is cleaned only by warm water in its fresh milk bacteriological content. Keywords: cow’s udder, bacteriological content, fresh milk

Abstract

Nowadays competence and requirements for international standard make occupational safety and health problems as a crucial global issue. Minimum control to work environment leads to the incidence of health problems, the emergence of various diseases and occupational accident. Fatigue as one of declining physical condition symptoms and stamina commonly occurs to manpower. Working condition which is not supported by healthy, comfortable, and secure environment may trigger fatigue. Drivers of public transportation are most likely to encounter fatigue. Vibration on the time of driving have high risk to give on exposure to work environment. The study aimed to identify the relationship between work stress and vibration against fatigue. This was a survey which used cross sectional design with as many as 80 samples. The result of the study showed that work stress had relationship with fatigue (r=0.254, p=0.015), vibration had relationship with fatigue (r=0.260, p=0.023). The result of multivariable analysis showed that work stress and vibration were significant predictor to the incidence of fatigue with effective contribution as much as 12.61% for fatigue. There was a significant relationship between work stress and vibration against fatigue. Therefore there should be efforts to prevent fatigue and discomfort through monitoring of work environment, health check, and the implementation of occupational safety and health for train drivers in particular.   Keywords: work stress, vibration, fatigue, occupational health and safety
