Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aims to identify the internal and external environment of agro-shrimp crackers and formulate strategies to develop these agro-industry inPlosobuden Village, Deket District, Lamongan Regency.The basic method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method and carried out with a case study. The analysis used was the marketing environment analysis, the SWOT analysis to identify internal and external factors forthestrengths, weaknesses, opportunitiesandthreats, the IFE and EFE Matrix and the SWOT matrix to formulate an alternative strategy in business development. Based on research result shows that the main internal strengths which is owned by agro-shrimp crackers entrepreneur is selling at an affordable price. While its main weaknesses is the lack of promotion. The main opportunities in the agro-shrimp cracker development is still has an extensive market share. While the main threats is unfavorable weather in the shrimp cracker business. Alternative strategies can be applied in developing agro-industry is raising the shrimp crackers production to take the opportunities of technological advancement for food security standards, promoting to attract potential customers in anticipating the new competitors to improve the image of the product, making business licenses and increasing the products diversification through products and services policy dealing with new competitors.Key words: Agro-shrimp crackers, SWOT analysis, development strategy

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe coastal land is the marginal land thatwas managed as productive agricultural land. Since 1990 farmers have been using coastal land to cultivate the red onion. Agribusiness development of red onion in coastal landneed to besupported by capital,production and processing facilities and market. Thisresearch aimed (1) to know the farmers accessibility toward capital, production and processing facilities and market, (2) the influence of the level of farmers accessibility toward level of adoption on agribusiness of red onion in coastal land.Location of the research was in Sanden District of Bantul Regency. Srigading village was chosen purposively as sample because there were majority of farmers doing agribusiness of red onion, and then from this sample village was chosen purposively one sample of farmers groupwhich majority of members as agribusinessman of red onion, namely Manunggal farmers group.From this farmers group sample were taken 60 respondents by census method. Data were analysed by using multiple linear regression and descriptive statistics. The research results showed that the level offarmers accessibility was considerably high;and the level of farmers accessibility wassignificantly and positively influenced by the level of adoption on agribusiness innovation. Farmers attitude,farmers motivation,the role of farmers group, and the role of extension worker were not significantly influencedby the level of adoption on agribusiness innovation.Keywords:coastal land, accessibility, agribusiness, red onion, adoption

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe value of imports of fruit in Indonesia also continued to increase, and in the reality import of the fruit is not least of which is a tropical fruit that can be grown in this country and has been cultivated on a massive scale by farmers, one of themis mango ofArumanis. On the other hand, consumer behavior tend to be very complex and is influenced by emotions, motives and attitudes.For the reason the understanding of concerning behavior of consumer become relevant because the information generated has aspects to like to (a) devise a strategy development, production and marketing of the product, (b) compile policy of public related to protection of consumer and producer and (c) continue with new ideas to producers to not merely sell products and to consumers to be more careful and prudent in making decisions.Research location is three metropolisincluding especial consumer of horticulture product that is Jakarta (DKI), Bandung ( West Java) and Padang ( West Sumatra). Responden of consumer survey is selected household consumer at random. Amount of consumer responder in] third the town is West Java = 123 people; Glorious DKI = 110 West Sumatra and people = 106 people, become totally = 339 people.The main analytical tool used is descriptive statistics, cross tabulation, chi square test and the Kruskal Walls to determine the relationship of various product attributes and socio-economic conditions through the use of SPSS statistical program. The results showed the majority of respondents have age between 30-49 years or are of childbearing age, with the majority of education above high school and is a housewife who works.Somewhat different characteristics occurred in Padang where housewives mostly working (70.8%), education SLTA whicha little (1.9%) and SLTA large enough (61.3%), while in Bandung partially big housewife does not work (53.7%). Taste is an indicator of the most dominant in the purchase arumanis mango, flesh color followed. The first criterion is the most preferred by consumers in the city of Jakarta and Padang having arumanis mango scent, 4biji/kg fruit size, price Rp. 4,000-Rp. 6.999/kg, was the order of the two is the fragrant aroma of mango Arumanis, 2biji/kgfruit size, price Rp. 4000 to Rp. 6.999/kg, is for the city of Bandung was the first order is preferred by consumers that have a mango Arumanis fragrant aroma, fruit size 2biji/kg, price Rp. 4,000-Rp. 6.999/kg and order both mango Arumanis having fragrant aroma, fruit size 4biji/kg, price Rp. 4,000-Rp. 6.999/kg.Keywords: Mango of Arumanis; Consumen behavior; Jakarta; Bandung; Padang

Abstract

ABSTRACTPamekasan, have great potential for the development of seaweed farming. The aims of this study are to know: marketing channels and marketing margins. The method of sampling was done by using incidental sampling and snowball sampling. Mean while, the methods of collecting data through observations, distributing questionnaires, interviews, library research and documentation.Data analysis using analysis of R/C ratio to determine the feasibility of the business and margin analysis to determine the efficiency of marketing. The results showed that a). seaweed farming are viable with R/C ratio 1.151 for the wet sales and 1.77 for the dry sales. B) there are two seaweed marketing channels, first: farmers – middlemen – plant collectors – factories, second: farmers – plant collectors – factories. The analysis of marketing margins, showed that marketing channels of wet seaweed was inefficient, while marketing channels of dried seaweed was efficient.Keywords: seaweed, marketing.

Abstract

ABSTRACTBangkalan’s jasmine is popularas ‘Ratoh Ebuhjasmine had been promoted as prime commodity and most produced in Burneh district with 50 acres harvest area and the productivity is 0,34 kg/m2. The increasing of population in Indonesia, become a great market of jasmine commodity, beside that, an export opportunity is also opened for this flower. But the farmer of jasmine cannot supply the market need. The aim of this study is to show the cash flow analysis and financial feasibility study of ‘Ratoh Ebuh’ jasmine’s farm enterprises to influence the farmer to invest in this farming enterprises, that able to rise the benefit of the jasmine farmers. Based on research, the total cost of jasmine farm enterprise is Rp.173.705.525 per acre for 4 years . The total net benefit that able to reach by the farmer is Rp. 241.207.140. This farm enterprise need 1 year, 2 months and 2 weeks to returns the total of capitals. Based on the evaluation of the feasibility level, the project is feasible to operated. The NPV value is Rp. 155.075.617 with the value of OCC is 12%. The IRR value is 77% and the ratio of net B/C is 4,4.Key Words: Jasmine, feasibility, net benefit, NPV, IRR, net B/C Ratio

Abstract

ABSTRACTBeans (Phaseolusvulgaris .L.)have been known as an important vegetable for a long time. Although the use ofgreen beans as daily consumptiontendsto decline, the demandas rawmaterial in agribusinessindustryandotherstendsto increase. This situation open the opportunity for PT. Benih CitraAsia (BCA),a horticulture breeding company, to collaborate with farmers producingseeds including green beans seedthrough contract farming arrangement. This research aims to identify opportunities andbenefits of involving in a contractfarming arrangement for farmers, factorsaffecting income,income’s value and farm management cost efficiency. This research was conducted in Wuluhan Sub District, Jember Regency. The data was analyzedby using SWOTanalysis, the multiplier linear regression model, income analysis andR/Cratio. Resultsshowed that: (1) contract-farming arrangement located in SWOT whitearea(ideal). It also indicated that there was strongopportunityandbenefit for both parties involved. (2) Seed cost (X2), fertilizer costs(X3), labor costs(X5) andtotalproduction(X6) were found as factors influencing farmers’ income with significant level of 95%. (3) The average income per hectare of beans farming in Wuluhan Sub District Jember Regency was Rp.5.248.213,10. (4) R/C ratio of this farm management was more than one (1,43),it indicated that the using of cost in green beans farm management was efficient. Keywords: contractfarming, incomefactors, cost efficiency, income.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aimed to examine the effect of farming in the drawdown area of the Multi-purpose dam of Wonogiri to the welfare of the farmers and their families. About 63 farmers who engaged in a contractual arrangement with PT. Jasa Tirta I, represented by the Division IVwere selected for the field survey and interviews. The compelemntary data was collected through a series of Focus Group discussins (FGD)The study indicates that (a) the drawdown farming contributes 25,54% to the annual household income which is higher than the contribution of the farming outside the drawndown area. A large amount of drawndown income is primarily contributed by the corn aside from paddy and soybean; (b) the drawdown farming offers 28,11% to the total expenses of the household food consumption in a cropping season. This figure is higher than the contibution offered by farming outside the drawdown site, that is about 26,09%. Keywords: farming in the drawdown area of Multipurpose dam, income contribution

Abstract

ABSTRAKTidal land included marginal land that has high acid. One cause is management of resources is not optimum yet.This research was aimed to find out contribution of orange cultivation to the farmer income of tidal land in Barambai Muara Village Barito regency South Borneo during June and August 2010. This research was conducted by survey method through PRA (Participatory Rural Appraisal) approach. Data obtained from interviews with 25 respondents that are chosen by random sampling. Interview focus is on resource, constraint and opportunity of orange cultivation in the tidal land. Tidal land in the south Borneo has high potential to improve the farmer income. A farmer cultivate the orange plants 150 to 300, its produce net income are Rp14.520.000,-  or 71,50% of household income. Mostlypaddyis cultivated onlyonce a yearthatlocalriceproductivityreached 2.1tons/acreissufficient to meettheir daily needs. Laborlargelydevoted to the orange cultivation. The constraints of orange cultivation are limitedtechnology andlowprices. Farmers need the Government's attention especially on marketing because this area has high potential to be developed.Keywords: orange cultivation, tidal land, Participatory Rural Appraisal, household income
