Abstract

ABSTRACTFeed is one of the important factors to produce maximum production in the cultivation of egg crabs. This study aims to determine the effect of different types of feed on the number of mangrove crabs (Scylla serrata) that lay eggs, absolute weight growth, specific growth rates, and survival. The method of this study is an experimental method (experiment) using a one-factor Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 levels of treatment 3 replications so that 12 units of the experiment were obtained. Each treatment given is P1 = Fly Fish 6% / body weight, P2 = Squid 6% / body weight, P3 = Shrimp 6% / body weight, and P4 = Lemuru Fish 6% / body weight. The crabs used are 180-190 g in size stocked in basket containers with stocking densities for each basket that is 1 tail. Maintenance lasts for 20 days and feed is given as much as 6% of body weight, frequency of feeding twice a day. The parameters observed included observing the number of spawning crabs, absolute weight growth, specific growth rate, feed efficiency, feed conversion ratio, survival rate and water quality. The results showed that the feeding of shrimp feed was the best treatment resulting in the number of mangrove crabs laying as many as 10 tails, absolute weight growth of 93.29 g, specific growth rate of 2.04%, feed efficiency 53.26%, feed conversion 1.88 and livelihood level 83.33%. Based on the results of the study concluded that the provision of different types of feed significantly affected the number of spawning crabs, had a very significant effect on growth and did not significantly affect the survival of mangrove crabs (Scylla serrata) which lay eggs. Keywords : Fresh feed; The number of crabs lay eggs; Growth; Life-long rate; Mangrove Crab; Scylla serrata

Abstract

ABSTRACT            Fungal are a group of microbes that often cause disease in comet fish. Diseases caused by fungi are secondary infections, and can cause more than 50% death. The objective of the study was to find out the species of pathogenic fungi in comet fish and what is the prevalence of fungi that infect comet fish. The method used was survey at the location of the Ornamental Fish Shelter, Jalan Bukit Barisan, Tangkerang Timur Village, Tenayan Raya District, Pekanbaru City. The fish used were 6 - 8 cm as many as 15 tails . Conventional identification includes macroscopic inspect of fungi colonies and microscopic of fungi hyphae. Molecular identification was carried out by PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) technique and analyzed with Bioedit, BLASTn and MEGA applications to find out the phylogenetic tree. Research parameters include hyphae size and fungi prevalence. The results of conventional identification techniques found the 4 species of fungi, includes Aspergillus niger, Penicillium sp., Curvularia sp., Fusarium sp.. The result of molecular identification techniques found the species of fungi, includes Curvularia pseudorobusta with homolog value 93%, Trametes corrugate with homolog value 99%.,The conclusion from the identification results found two types of fungi that are pathogenic in comet fish, includes Fusarium sp. and Curvularia sp.. Fungal prevalence from 15 samples was 73,3%. Wide hyphae of fusarium sp. is 1,09 µm, and Curvularia sp. is 1,52 µm. Keywords: Fusarium sp., Curvularia sp., Carassius auratus.

Abstract

ABSTRACT  This research was conducted on july 2018  in Tanjung Tiram Waters of Batu Bara regency, North Sumatera province. It aims to analyze the oil content  and  the diatom density. The sample was analyzedin the Marine Chemistry and Marine Biology Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine, Universitas Riau. The survey method used in this research was purposive which consisted of four stations. Each station is repeated in three times. It known that the oil content in water ranged 0,1722 – 0,4341 ppm.According to standard quality value of sea water, the oil content of water has not exceeded the threshold value (<5 ppm). The results of calculating the abundance of diatoms are known to be the highest in station 4 with the number 144 ind / l, while the lowest abundance of diatoms is at station 1 with a number of 97 ind / l. The mostof diatom species found is Nitzschia sp., Skeletonema sp., Leptocylindrus sp., and Coscinodiscus sp.Based on the level of fertility, the abundance of the diatoms in TanjungTiram area is categorized as oligotrophic waters, namely waters that have a low fertility level with a range between 0 - 2000 ind / l.The correlation of oil content and the diatom density are declared in mediocrevalue with coefficient of 0.53.   Key words : Pollution, Oil Content, Diatom, North Sumatera

Abstract

Abstract The existence of human activities around the Pekak Lake producing organic  and anorganic materials that enter the water and affects the type and density of zooplankton in general. To understand the types and density of zooplankton in the Pekak Lake, a research has been carried out in March-April 2018. There were three sampling points, namely in the inlet, in the middle of the lake, and in the end of the lake. In each sampling point, the water was sampled from the surface and 0.75 m depth. Water quality parameters measured were temperature, transparency, dissolved oxygen, pH, nitrate and phosphate. Sampling were conducted 3 times, once/week. Results shown that there were 15 species of zooplankton present and they were belonged to 12 classes, namely Ciliata (3 species), Crustacea (2 species), Copepoda (1 species), Sagittoidae  (1 species), Insecta (1 species), Cladocera (1 species), Adenophorea (1 species), Suctoria (1 species), Monogononta (1 species), Sarcodina (1 species), Seisonidae (1 species), Rotifera (1 species). The zooplankton density in the Pekak Lake was 2.466-5.277 organisms/L. The most common zooplankton in Pekak Lake is Ciliate. Water quality parameter values are as follow, temperature was 27-30 0C, transparency was 68.5-76.8 cm, dissolved oxygen was 5.13-6.4 mg/L, pH  5.0, CO2 was 8.23-15,58mg/L, nitrate was 0.05-0.19 mg/L and phosphate was 0.06-0.11 mg/L. Based on the density of zooplankton, the Pekak Lake can be categorized was oligotrophic. Keywords : Kampar River, Oxbow Lake, Eutrophic, Ciliate.
