Abstract

This paper analyses the performance of the signalling network No.7, based on its Grade OfService (GOS). Computer software is designed and employed, based on Visual Basic 6.0 tosimulate the Signalling Network System which is based on CCS No.7. The facilities of thissimulation software is so designed as to enable the user to change inputs, using differentvalues: number of nodes, average traffic, internode distance, routing, transmission medium,number of channel. This in turn would make it possible to analyse the efficiency of thenetwork and, hence the optimum performance desired.Keywords: Grade of Service (GoS), Routing, Message Signal Unit (MSU)

Abstract

Nowadays the implementions of the transmission modulation techniques (high channel capacity) in optical fibres have been widely developed, one of the successful key factors of this system is the application of digital modulation techniques and the adjustment of modulation pattern. Modulation pattern of adjustment measures on the operational requirements of the system was made possible by the utilization of techniques Apol RZ-DPSK (Alternate Polarization Return-to-Zero Differential Phase Shift Keying). It is considered likely because it can reduce the effects of inter-channel non-linearity, noise and simultaneously demonstrates increasing system margins. Abstract

The Automatic Parking System is a system which automatize park of the car where we do notneed wasting our time in searching for a vacant place parking the car. Only with the RFIDtag touch hence our car will be parked automatically in place which we have determinedpreviously. This appliance use a microcontroler AT89S51 as controller brain, RFID card asidentification of the car owner, and some base lifts which made and designed in a such waycould move freely and basically driven by electric motors. In this system, microcontroller isused to arrange and control the movement and the position of car contained base lifts to beparked. After being identified the car ID by microcontroller and the driver has left the car,the system then started working until the parking process completed and the microcontrollerwill command the motor to return and move the empty base back the place ,standing by fornew process. The car retrieval process car happened on the contrary. The pallet liftmovement is motorized by four 12 VDC power motors gearbox.Keywords: Parking, Microcontroller, RFID, Motor gearbox.

Abstract

Data transmission and data storage cost money. The more information being dealt with, thehigher the cost is needed. In spite of this, most digital data are not stored in the mostcompact form. Rather, they are stored in whatever way makes them easiest to use, such as:ASCII text from word processors, binary code that can be executed by a computer, etc.Typically, these easy-to-use encoding methods require larger size data files than theyactually need to represent the information. Data compression is the general term for thevarious algorithms and programs developed to address this problem. The aim of datacompression is to reduce redundancy in stored data or transmitted data, thus increasingeffective data density. A compression program is used to convert data from an easy-to-useformat to one optimized for compactness. In this paper, we examine and analyze two basicmethods in data compression called Run Length Encoding and Arithmetic coding. Aframework for evaluation and comparison of these two methods is constructed and appliedto the algorithms presented. Comparisons of both theoretical and empirical natures arebriefly reported in this paper. The compression programs for these two methods of datacompression are developed using Java programming language. The program is used tocompress number of different sizes document type files to measure the time spent for thecompression, the time to reconstruct and the size of the compressed data files to get thecompression ratio. The result indicated that arithmetic coding method has compression ratio1,14 up to 2,61 higher than run length encoding while it takes times 1,114 –1,564 and 2,85 –5,635 longer than time needed by Run Length encoding methods. We can conclude that thereare typical tradeoffs between the amount of compression, the runtime, and the quality of thereconstruction. Depending on the application, one might be more important than anotherand one would want to pick the method appropriately.Keywords: Kompresi Data, Run Length Encoding, Arithmetic Coding, Compression ratio.

Abstract

Generally, the design of control system begins with plant modeling. The analytical systemmodeling through physical observation is usually dificult to be obtained.Therefore, theexperimental system model become main stay alternative. This paper presents the process ofsystem parameters estimation. The methode of parameters estimation are use“PROGRESIVE ITEGRATION METHODE”. The resulted of parameters estimation thenbe simulated to computer with used MATLAB software version 5.3. Abstract

Main problem faced by Voice over IP service is the level of delay and packet loss yielded.Queue delay that happened when packet enter router interface have a big effect in real-timecommunications like Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). First In First Out (FIFO) QueueSystem does not own arrangement to traffic passing through it, all packets assumed equal. IfVOIP packets queue up together with data packet at this system hence the delay yielded willbe very big. A correct queue method needed to improve network delay characteristic andimprove Quality of Service (QOS) of VoIP. One QOS management method on VoIP which canbe used is CBQ (Class Based Queuing) queue method. CBQ represent scheduling mechanismproviding link-sharing among classes using same physical link. This is the method enabledivision of bandwidth allocation from router output port as according to traffic type andpriority. In the event of congestion, traffic with high priority will accept minimum bandwidthallocations as which have previous reservation. At the simulated scenario and networktopology, CBQ queue method able to meet the requirement of maximum delay according toITU recommendation G.114. Based on calculation conversion R factor value to MOS by usingE-Model, CBQ can assign MOS value more than 4 (four), meaning its value is good. Abstract

As the wireless technology continuing developing enormously, within it the development ofspeech signal compression joining too, which is implemented in digital communicationsystem. Among the aim is privileged to minimize the channel capacity or bandwidth usageand the speed of transmission. So the use of smaller bits, which brings maximised voicequality, are the most important factor to this technology. One of the speech signalcompression techniques which is implemented in GSM network is called Adaptive Multi Rate(AMR) speech codec or known as GSM-AMR speech codec. There are 8 (eight) bit rates12.2, 10.2, 7.95, 7.40, 6.70, 5.90, 5.15 and 4.75 kbps which is used by GSM-AMR. The bitrates have abilities to adapt to the situation and condition of the network and also ability totailor the operator needs and requirement. The result of a non real-time simulation is shownthat GSM-AMR has a good enough quality of speech signal reconstruction with range ofSNR between 18.78 and 20.35 dB and also range of MSE between 0.053 and 0.079. Thesmaller the bitrate, the better the SNR and the MSE. It was also proven with the comparisonof original signal and constructed signal which is shown that the reconstructed signal hassimilarities figure with the original signal. Overall, the performance of the speech codecgives a good speech quality.Keyword: Speech Codec, GSM-AMR, Adaptive Multi Rate, SNR, MSE.

Abstract

The output-voltage waveform of an inverter is non sinusoidal and in most applications thevoltage harmonics have a significant effect on the overall system performance. Theseharmonics may be reduced at the cost of increasing the complexity of the inverter circuit,and an economic decision must be made on the degee to which this should be done. The Twomost commonly used techniques for harmonic-reduction are presented in this paper, theseare harmonic reduction by Pulse-Width Modulation and Sinusoidal Pulse-WidthModulation.Keyword: harmonic-reduction, Pulse-Width Modulation, Sinusoidal Pulse-WidthModulation.

Abstract

This article converses TMS320C3x DSP Starter Kit (DSK) board utilization as Butterworthinfinite impulse response (IIR) digital filter. Specification parameters of the filter can bechanged as long as they do not exceed performance limits of the DSK board.The resulted Butterworth filter performance is compared to the theoretical one obtainedusing Matlab signal processing toolbox.
