Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effect of work stress on affective commitment directly and indirectly through the mediation of job satisfaction. Organizations need to develop employee’s affective commitment. This emotional attachment believed to have positive impact on organizational performance. The current study examined 428 participants from various industries in Indonesia. Using path analysis the study revealed that work stress had very small negative effect on job satisfaction. Job satisfaction had significant positive effect on affective commitment, but work stress did not have significant effect on affective commitment. Thus job satisfaction did not mediate the effect of work stress on affective commitment. Findings suggest that organization still need to find other factors which have impact on employee’s affective commitment, while they can still achieve affective commitment by providing a program that enhances job satisfaction. The contribution of this paper is to provide wider analysis regarding stress and job attitude to improve organizational policies in managing human resources.

Abstract

The education world has significant roles in encouraging students to be productive, collaborative, and communicative in this competitive era. Therefore, educators should be able to administer classes where students can experience learning process to have the necessary skills in working environment. One way to establish the desired learning process is by designing and setting special learning groups in the classroom as an environment to develop students’ social skills and their productivity. The desired environment is an environment which nurtures students’ creativity in developing their social skills and productivity, namely group dynamics. To achieve this goal, a qualitative research is conducted in marketing management classes in Ciputra University Surabaya, Indonesia, to see if setting a dynamics environment are able to grow students’ creativity. In several similar cases, educators believe in the need of organizing learning groups which fit the development of twenty first century. Dynamics environment is needed to grow students’ creativity. The research will contribute some knowledge on how higher education educators organize and set learning groups in big class. The results of the research will suggest some ways to organize and set the learning groups which are effective in developing students’ creativity.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyse and test the creation of optimisation value-added by intellectual capital that collaborates with company policies in the property and real estate sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The sampling method uses purposive sampling and obtained sample of 15 companies. This study uses path analysis. Intellectual capital is measured by Value Added Intellectual Coefficient (VAIC); Funding decisions are measured by Debt to Equity Ratio (DER); Dividend decisions are measured by Dividend Payout Ratio (DPR); Investment decisions are measured using a combined Investment Opportunity Set (IOS). The value of the firm is measured using Tobin’s Q, and the financial performance is measured using Return on Assets (ROA). The results of this study conclude that intellectual capital can improve financial performance but reduce the value of the firm. Funding decisions and dividend decisions reduce financial performance, but investment decisions improve financial performance. Only dividend decisions can increase value of the firm, while investment decisions reduce value of the firm. Even funding decisions do not affect value of the firm. Financial performance has not been able to mediate the flow of value-added creation. From the results of the study, the flow of creating value-added from intellectual capital supported by company policy through the financial performance in property and real estate companies has not been able to increase value of the firm optimally.

This research showed that bond issued banks listed in the IDX had a good financial performance from 2013 to 2017. Based on the results of partial regression, the announcement of issuance of corporate bonds, dividends per share, CAR, and NIM had a significant influence on stock trading volume activity and the form of influence was positive.
