Abstract

Sustainable development is development activities that can be ongoing and aimed at improving the quality of human life without life support beyond the ability of the ecosystem. But activities such as forest conversion to plantations, transmigration settlements, mining and logging, as well as forest concession are less responsible, contrary to sustainable development. In addition, the development in the big cities in Indonesia seems to ignore the environmental aspects and has caused ecological problems and social. Forest Concept Stage AVA (Akasa Vana Asthana) is the answer to the challenge of sustainable development by providing new forest land as a replacement or an addition to the already deforested forest area, without constrained by limited land significantly. This concept is preferred to be applied in urban areas, as it aims to bring back the forest functions and additional functions attached to them to address ecological problems in urban areas. Our idea is to make the forest above the city areas which will result in the preservation of the environment and impact on human welfare with the example is the landscape in the area of Surabaya. However, it is possible to apply this concept in other major cities in Indonesia.

Abstract

Floods hit Jakarta every year. The three-meter high floods, due to overflowing Ciliwung River, hit Kampung Pulo, Kampung Melayu, Jatinegara, East Jakarta (Wednesday, 13/02/2013). This paper aims to formulate the concept of watershed improvements in Jakarta. The concept promotes environmental innovation systems in the watershed named GPS2 (Green Pipe System State). GPS2 is a series of elements that are connected to one another. GPS2 important element is the principle of circular motion, the principle of water flow, the concept of using a pipe drains, the concept of river water filters that are free of trash, removal of the concept of river water to flow smoothly, the concept of green areas in the watershed, and the concept of with a maximum water absorption by trees and holes in the catchment basin and certain areas are frequently flooded.GPS2 system workflow begins with the screening of garbage on the main river by using circular motion. Garbage is lifted to the river bank whilst filtered water enters into the main channel then undergoes filtration on filter 1 to produce water clean. The water is removed and undergone a screening process again on the filter 2 and the resulting clean water is ready to circulate to the area around GPS2. The water flowed through the pipes supported by trees that also serves to increase the amount of green open space in the city. The water will be stored in the water tank or directly utilized by residents. In addition to filtered water flows, a small stream flowed even more clear to maintain the balance of the ecosystem. GPS2 has enormous benefits such as overcoming the problem of flooding in the capital of Jakarta, helping provide clean water, adding a green open space as well as addressing issues, in particular garbage in the river.

Abstract

Based on data collected by Indonesian Maritime Magazine, in year 2030 Indonesia will lose about 2,000 islands due to global warming. While the average rate of population growth in Indonesia reaches 6% per year, this results in the amount of land to be used also diminishing. Therefore we need a solution that can overcome these problems. Reclamation is often the answer to these problems. Yet, it results in damage to the marine ecosystem. Surabaya Frishapp a floating city concept that uses the concept of "floating ring shaped plate". The city is designed with a capacity of 36,000 people, which is more than enough to accommodate the residents of a city. The city uses a system structure that allows components fluctuate city following the sea level. Various synergic attempts with natural environment are proposed in almost all the cities so that the destruction of marine systems and avoid any further natural.

Abstract

TransJakarta Bus is a Bus Rapid Transit or bus rapid transport system, which accommodates users of all groups. This bus is one of the common vehicle contributing to accidents on the road of jakarta. Based on data from Jakarta Provincial Government, in 2012 the accidents related to TransJakarta bus have increased significantly from previous year and the figures seem to be ascending from year to year. The accident occurred due to the number of vehicles, in particular, motorists grab into TransJakarta lane. This shows that the awareness of motorists to obey traffic rules and order are poor. Therefore, a solution is needed to reduce the accidents. One of the solutions is to maximize the sterilization and program direction change. Sterilization is an attempt to sterilize the general motorist who get into TransJakarta lane. The program is a Direction Change that change of direction between TransJakarta buses with others vehicles that initially the direction into the opposite direction, or commonly known as contraflow. The program aims to curb the riders and decrease the number of accidents that occur on the TransJakarta lane.

Abstract

This article discusses about “Gubuk Gegana”, that is a place which is used for ammonia process called amoniasi. This has a result a fodder from straw which has higher nutrition value than usual. Gubuk Gegana is expected to overcome the problem of shortage of fodder  in the dry season in Kebumen. Besides, Gubuk Gegana is designed to make the best possible use of many natural potential and develop the knowledge and skills of the society in Kebumen. On the other word, Amoniasi is expected to solve agricultural wastes problem especially rice straw be more optimal utilization.

Abstract

Indonesia as an archipelagic country has an area of 1,910,931.32 km2 with a population density reached 237.36 million in 2010, with thus Indonesia has great potential to enhance the natural resources, and human resources that can not be separated from life on the islands of Sumatra and Java. Java and Sumatra is an island that has the potential to promote development in the country. Marine transportation is used as a link the two islands has many shortcomings, such as not able to serve the needs of people who want to cross the island of Java and Sumatra, well, because it is hampered fleet size is limited, and expensive ferry freight rate. This is a barrier for people crossing, due to the fact that private vehicles and cargo that want to cross had to queue up for hours to wait penyebarangan. See the underwater topography of Sunda strait vulnerable plate movement and saplings Krakatoa makes conventional bridge construction is a solution that is not quite right. Therefore, the construction of the floating bridge is the most appropriate solution as a means of land transportation connecting Java and Sumatra. Floating bridge pontoon which we propose to use as a replacement solution using a conventional bridge foundations are stuck at the bottom of the sea surface, it would disrupt the ecology of the sea bottom and the underwater topography is possible will often occur and transfersal longitudinal vibration caused by magma activity under the sea. With the construction of pontoon bridges can reduce the risks and obstacles that occur during the development progresses. By using the laws of physics Archimides building construction and design of a concept which has been updated from existing bridge in Washington DC / Seattle, Gunung Jati bridge is believed to be able to address the challenges that exist in the Sunda Strait. The problem of water flow down will not impact directly on the foundation materials floating pontoon bridge is made more profitable than conventional bridges using pole foundation rooted on the seabed.

Abstract

Some areas of Indonesia are malaria endemic areas with the National Annual Parasite Incidence (API) is 2.4%. Inequality in the number of puskesmas is one of the causes of high rates of malaria transmission. Solution of this problem is to build new puskesmas in that areas. The costs of this construction can be reduced by utilizing waste plastic bottles to replace a brick as the wall of puskesmas. Next, the bottle walled puskesmas will be built in stelsel system in order to improve access to health services in malaria endemic areas. Thus, the rate of malaria transmission can be suppressed.

Abstract

Indonesia and Malaysia relationship as two neighbouring countries often face bilateral problems, for example cultural, political, and social conflicts. Some solutions for those conflicts had already been strived by both countries, but the solution does not settle the problem down to the community, thus negative sentiments about Indonesia-Malaysia relationship is prevalent in the community. IMAHO is a new solution brought by Indonesian and Malaysian medical students in assistance by universities and governments from both countries in order to eliminate negative sentiments by means of activities carried out by collaboration of Indonesian and Malaysian students. All activities in the community are expected to be an example for the society to live in harmony and negative sentiments about Indonesia-Malaysia relationship can be eliminated.
