Abstract

Student’s magister is one of user library university of Indonesia those who need information regarding duty as carried out college. With different backgrounds students as, made they need facilities sources of information easy and efficient. The library University of Indonesia the provision of information service, including service online reference to access the international journal address URL through: http: // remote-lib.ui.ac.id (EZProxy to access international journals). This service is facilities remote access, connected with resource at a network central from one location. Students can access journal electronic wherever and anytime simply by making log-in through single sign on. Synthesis a problem in this research is to find how the facility of an EZProxy ui by student magister library and science university of Indonesia? For the purpose to get the facility of a remote lib ui to access the international journal of student magister library science. The result of this research can be a useful tool as input to student’s library science to develop study would check in the field of library services. Research locations in university Indonesia, election student magister library science, because have a background various activity. With a population of consists of 25 students. And techniques the sample collection by using non probability of sampling with the methods purposive sampling. The sample in this research were informants ever use the service of EZProxy (http: // remote-lib.ui.ac.id) at least once. The majority of informants interviewed 4 people with distribution 2 men and women 2. Technique the data collection was done in two ways that is observation and interview. The next step is to analyzed data. Analysis of data done by means of transcrip the results of interviews, then the data reduced, presentation of data and the withdrawal of conclusion. This research result indicates that the utilization of EZProxy to access international journals by student magister library of science university of Indonesia based on (1) ease in search of articles the international journal, (2) are provided free of charge by a library university of Indonesia so it is more efficient. (3) Can be accessed wherever and anytime, (4) the utilization is very easy, not convoluted (5) Simple, summarized in one online database. So users not get confused. Abstract

Modern libraries are characterized by the diversity of information services to users, including to fulfill the information needs of researchers. Fulfill the information requirements for this research group is very important because the information provided affect the quality of research. Library of STIE Perbanas Surabaya efforts to fulfill the information needs of researchers is to provide research resources through the provision of access annual and financial report for go public company. To provide convenience to users who do research and need annual and financial report for go public, library of STIE Perbanas Surabaya provide easy access through online catalog. To fulfill the annual and financial report for go public company, library tracking data on Indonesian stock exchange and go public company. Library attempts to provide easy access to information is expected to support a process that requires researchers and  annual and financial report data so as to improve the quality and quantity of scientific works in the field of economics science, especially for subject of banking, finance and business.

Abstract

Library as one of the public services attempts to give the users satisfaction, especially in providing the documents and information. Users’ satisfaction is highly dependent on the quality of a product. Library product is the collection and service provided. The study aims to find out the users’ satisfaction toward the collection and the services of UPT of Library Center of IAIN Antasari Banjarmasin. The method used in the study was descriptive with quantitative approach. The sampling used Taro Yamane theory with the precision degree of 10. There were 99 respondents consist of 95 students, 4 lectures and staffs, and 1 person outside university. The result showed that the library users’ satisfaction on the completeness of collection in the central library of IAIN Antasari is in quite satisfied category since the average score is 3.22 which is on the interval scale of 2.62-3.42. Users’ satisfaction on the current collection is 3.25. Therefore, it can be concluded that the users’ satisfaction on the current collection is on the interval scale of 2.62-3.42 which is in the scale of quite satisfied. Library users’ satisfaction on the librarian service is quite satisfied since the average score of the respondent satisfaction is 3.43 which is in the interval scale of 3.43-4.23. The average score of users’ satisfaction on the service facility of the library is 3.53, so it can be concluded that the library users’ satisfaction on the service facility in the central library of IAIN Antasari is on the interval scale of 3.43-4.23 which is quite satisfied. The total average score of library users’ satisfaction on the collection and service in the central library of IAIN Antasari is 3.42 which is in the quite satisfied category.

Abstract

Indonesia is an island country which is rich of cultural treasure. These cultural treasure are including moral value, Knowledge and technology that is used by hereditary from local tradition. Most of these hereditary habits are done by oral tradition, so it less of documentations. Library as information center and has function to serve information, willy nilly, librarian has responsibility to preserve the knowledge of traditional culture as intellectual property. Besides of that, the documentation activity will become cultural defense of indonesia so, it can be used by the next generation for learning activity. View the significant of cultural documentation activity, in this paper want to discussion about role of librarian in traditional knowledge. This type of research is study literature research. We will use a variety of literature that discusses traditional knowledge. Then do the assessment  about of the role of librarians to traditional knowledge

Abstract

Nowadays, people does not need to go to the library for searching knowledge or information. World does change. We come to the new generation that so called as digital native generation. Information can be search through the gadgets on hands which connected to the internet. Then comes the question. Is the library still important? What the library should do? It is no wonder that most of the libraries have decreasing number of visitors as well as decreasing number of books that out of the shells. This paper describes the characteristics of the digital native, their habit in learning and reading books.  It also summarized some discussions among the head of the three university libraries in Surabaya, i.e, Intitut Teknologi Sepuluh (ITS) Nopember Surabaya, Petra Christian University (PCU), Surabaya Universities (Ubaya). The results of the discussion shows, that library has to be changed so that they can accommodate the needs of the digital native. It is not only the place for borrowing books, but also the place for doing discussion, watching videos and listening to audios, and of course the online materials must be provided to encounter the decreasing visitors.

Abstract

This paper discusses about citation which one tool can be used in performing library collection evaluation. Throught this citation analysis, it can be known science growing and development in certain subject. In citation analysis also can be described relation between part or all document cited with citing document. So, it can be count how many the works cited by authors. For libraries, the result of citation analysis can become consideration in making collection development policy.

Abstract

Between Senayan Library Management System or usually called SLiMS and e-DDC (electronic Dewey Decimal Classification) now is the most popular library application software which has a lot of user, because it is simple to use, has an updating guarantee from its developers and off course both of them are free of charge. Although SLiMS and e-DDC are different application at all, as practically they are recommended to be used togather for library management. SLiMS is used for library automation and e-DDC is to find collection’s classification. Many users of SLiMS and e-DDC ever give suggestions about developing SLiMS with e-DDC include in its database, and then librarians will be easier to manage their libraries. Because of that suggestion, finally a plugin as an additional application for SLiMS has been created and developed. That plugin was build with PHP language programming and MySQL database. The purpose of this paper is to enrich about reference of development of library application, especially those based on Free Open Source Software (FOSS). This paper use Research and Development Methods. And the result of this paper is Plugin e-DDC for SLiMS which has released on May, 2nd 2015, in order to celebrate “National Education Day”.

Abstract

The study of media literacy has been conducted by the earlier scientists. That research uses population that have different characteristics to each other. So this studies of media literacy have various models or patterns. This models or patterns of media literacies will be used as basic data to the next study that generated will usually be the basis for the further research. Basically, the model of media literacy generated by some researchers only can be applied in the population which become objects of research. To day, the archives faced many challenges due to the presence of information technology, so that the competence of media literacy as one of the important competencies to have. through this competency, archivist are expected to manage archives organization effectively and efficiently. This paper uses a descriptive method to describe how media literacy becomes important for archives.

Abstract

Inventory is an activity of book registration or recording bibliographic data collection into the main book or book inventory in accordance with the type of collection. Before September 2012, the inventory of books, especially in determining books inventory number, have been done by manual counting, so it often goes wrong in the book inventory. In November 2012 at the Library of Lampung University, Acquisition Book Division received 1473 titles/7357 copies. In 2013, the Library have received 1684 titles/16.870 copies. The books that received from the publishers was composed in a box in random order. The aims of “EF” method are: 1) to determine books inventory number easier, more effective, and faster; 2) to minimize the error in determining books inventory number. The method used is descriptive quantitative which consists of making a description, an image or picture in a systematic and factual from the existing problems which is to determine the books inventory number: a case study in acquisition books in 2012 and 2013 The results and conclusion are “EF” method in determining the books inventory number in 2012 and 2013 is easier, more effective, and faster, and “EF’ method can minimize errors in determining the books inventory number.
