Abstract

Background of the study: Libraries as the heart of the life of science for the learning process need to be managed properly. Referring to standards adapted from school libraries such as the Regulation of the Head of the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia Number 12 of 2017 concerning National Standards for Senior High School / Madrasah Aliyah Libraries, will provide clear directions for its implementation. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to determine the extent to which the application of the legal basis as a standard for organizing and managing high school libraries at the Yayasan BPI library. Method: The research method used is a qualitative approach with an evaluative type of research. This study uses the CIPPO evaluation model in monitoring and evaluating the Yayasan BPI library. Findings: In this study, it was found that the Yayasan BPI library had not fully met the standards as stated in the regulations. This happens because of the lack of human resources so that it is not effective and efficient in carrying out the work, services and programs designed by the school library. Conclusion: The constraints felt by Yayasan BPI Library greatly affect the intensity of visitor visits. However, in fulfilling library materials, the Yayasan BPI library has fully met the information needs of its users.

Abstract

Background of the study: Today the use of social media is so massive that it is not limited to the personal sphere. Business institutions and corporations also utilize social media always to be able to connect with their target users for marketing activities and to communicate their products. Purpose: It aims to analyze Instagram social media usage patterns by college libraries during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially on their Instagram accounts. In this study, there were four universities, both public and private, which analyzed the usage patterns of their Instagram. Method: This research analyzes the usage and utilization patterns of Instagram by university libraries in Indonesia during the COVID-19 pandemic in two stages, the content analysis method is employed to identify information on Instagram accounts of universities W, X, Y, and Z. Findings: There was a significant change in the pattern of using Instagram libraries between before and during the COVID-19 pandemic regarding the number and category of posts used. The number of posts related to COVID-19 is dominated by information about temporary remote services. Conclusion: The entire library actively socializes while encouraging users to takeadvantage of remote services and their on-site. However, the library is still not optimal

Abstract

Background of the study: Inadequate and improper storage facilities, absence of electronic records management system, inadequate space for records storage, human resource officer’s lack of records management skills and lack of internal training were the main challenges affecting the management of personnel records in Liwale district council. Purpose: The study aimed at investigating the personnel records and the challenges faced in management of these records in Liwale district council (LDC) in Tanzania. Method: The study used a qualitative approach in which 30 respondents were purposely selected. Questionnaires and in-depth interviews were used to collect data. Quantitative data were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Science version 20 while qualitative data were subjected to content analysis. Findings: Findings revealed that appointment letters and letters of confirmation were the most cited (16.7%) type of personnel records readily available in various departments at Liwale District Council. Others include health and social security records, letter of transfer, notification of termination/death and retirement, medical report, wages and salary slip, and copy of birth certificate. Conclusion: It is recommended that Liwale district council should address the challenges faced in the management of personnel records for better and fair decision-making.

Abstract

Background of the study: Literacy is an activity that can improve one's abilities and skills in terms of thinking capability and understanding information more skillfully. Literacy can increase reading interest. Something that can develop this is the existence of a school literacy movement that is aimed especially at students to be able to expand a school literacy culture. Purpose: This research aims to find out how to implement and evaluate student literacy activities at Alfa Centauri High School. Method: The methods used are descriptive qualitative methods with the ADDIE instructional design model. The technique of data collection used was an interview. The informant in this study was the leader of the Alfa Centauri High School literacy team. Findings: The results obtained are SMA Alfa Centauri implements literacy activities through three stages reading activities and creative writing activities. Conclusion: SMA Alfa Centauri is considered to have been able to implement literacy activities well and effectively in increasing students' reading interests. That can be visible from the program development, product results, and achievement in the implemented programs.

Abstract

Background of the study: In addition to being a medium of communication, social media is also used for promotion media for institutions that can cause dramatization processes. Mediatization at the Library aims to understand the role of social media such as Instagram as a promotional activity in the Library of Dispusip Kota Sungai Penuh. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explain the mediatization of libraries through Instagram social media. Libraries use social media as a promotional medium to reach users during the pandemic. Method: This research is a study using a qualitative approach. The collection technique is carried out by observing directly the Instagram account owned by each library of Dispusip Kota Sungai Penuh. Findings: Dispusip Kota Sungai Penuh uses Instagram library to promote library collections, promote library activities and services, upload photos or photos of library activities, develop distribution services, especially book lending, activities within the library, etc. Instagram is a new method for the Library of Dispusip Kota Sungai Penuh Library in order to attract visitors or public leaders, especially the millennial generation. The change in the form of promotional media toward digital media can be in the form of information in visual and audiovisual form. Conclusion: The existence of Instagram affects the pattern of promotional behavior of the Dispusip Kota Sungai Penuh Library because it has been mediated by technology.

Abstract

Background of the study: In addition to helping school administrators maximize the function and role of the school library as a medium of learning for teachers and students, the head of the school library is also a school teacher who has received education and training in the field of libraries. Purpose: Measuring the Effectiveness of the Implementation of Training for Candidates for Heads of School Libraries in Bengkulu Province Method: The method used in this study is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The data technique used is Interactive Analysis (Interactive Model of Analysis), namely by describing and describing information from each component part that is assessed. Findings: The results of the study show that the implementation of the training for prospective school library principals has been effective. It is shown in the results that the training participants for prospective school librarian can improve the skills of library managers in managing school libraries, improve library management standards, and apply library automation technology that can be said to be effective. Conclusion: The implementation of the Library Head Training and Education in this study has been quite effective in producing more qualified and competent school librarian candidates who can be appointed as school librarian heads. However, this research still has some limitations due to inadequate facilities and infrastructure. Thus, there is an obstacle in the implementation of the training for prospective school library principals. Therefore, of course, this research still has a research gap that can still be filled for further research.

Abstract

Background of the study: The use of technology in an all-digital world has made the Lubuklinggau City Library and Archives Service innovate to create a mobile library named Ilubuklinggau. Purpose: This study examines the use of the Ilubuklinggau mobile library application through a smartphone. This study aims to determine the use of existing collections in Ilubuklinggau by users, to find out the fulfillment of digital collection needs in the Ilubuklinggau application, and to know the skills of the community in accessing information through the Ilubuklinggau mobile library. Method: The research method used is a qualitative approach. The research subjects were 6 people consisting of 3 users of the Ilubuklinggau application and 3 library staff, informants as data sources were taken with certain considerations. Findings: Utilization is explained using the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model parameters. Based on this research, it is concluded that the results of 4 aspects include: 1) aspects of performance expectations 2) business expectations 3) social influences 4) facilitation conditions. These four aspects must be possessed in order to make optimal use of the Ilubuklinggau mobile library application through smartphones. Conclusion: The Ilubuklinggau application helps performance and makes it easier in terms of use, as well as increasing the competence and existence of the library, but this application has several obstacles that affect utilization such as incomplete collections due to budget conditions and face-to-face socialization that has not been held so that application enthusiasts are still lacking.

Abstract

Background of the Study:  The development of the era of society 5.0 made the library participate in this development. The library is a combination of virtual and physical space to meet users' information needs as a society 5.0. Purpose: This study  reviews the existence of libraries and librarians’ roles in the era of society 5.0, whether they are lost or survive in the new phase.  Method: This study used an explorative mothod, it employs a number of scientific procedures, including data collection from libraries, reading and taking notes, and transforming the results into narrative writing.. Findings: Libraries and Librarians continue to thrive in the development of the society 5.0 era Libraries, and librarians increasingly have a role. Library developments that can be developed in this area include robotics in libraries, Self-Service Services, Digital Libraries, Information Consulting Services, and Digital Consulting Services. Conclusion: Libraries and Librarians are still needed and essential in the era of society 5.0 in library development. Librarians must work scientially and ensure professionalism while carrying out their duties and functions in library development to meet society's 5.0 users.

Abstract

Background of the study: Information management in an organization or institution, especially for institutions related to public information needs, has an important role. Purpose: This study provides an overview and view of how the information management process is carried out in several public institutions, how it is currently developing, and what factors affect the implementation of information management in each public institution. Method: The method used in compiling this paper is a qualitative descriptive research. Using an interview and literature study with several literatures related to the information management framework implemented in several countries and institutions that the author has carried out himself. Findings: The results of this study provide an understanding of the situation and conditions in each institution in managing its information, so that it can be a view for other institutions in designing and managing information in their own environment. Abstract

Background of the study: This study investigated the effects of library use instruction on undergraduate utilization of library resources: a case study of the Delta State University Library, Abraka. Purpose:  The study’s major goal is to investigate library use instruction and undergraduates’ utilization of library resources. Method: The descriptive survey research design was used in this study. The population of the study is 4,714 Faculty of Education students. A sample size of 256 was chosen for this study. A questionnaire was the instrument used to collect data from the respondents. Descriptive statistics (frequency) and the statistical mean were used to analyze the data. Findings: The study found that the types of library resources used by undergraduates are the internet, databases, computer software, e-books, and books. The extent to which they use library resources is low. The types of library use instruction taught to the students are library orientation and electronic databases. The extent to which they participate in the instruction is low. Conclusion: Consequently, the study recommended that the Delta State University Library make library use instruction programs mandatory for both freshmen and transfer students in order to improve their use of library resources.
