Abstract

The covid 19 pandemic exposes universities to be able to carry out the learning process online. This is a challenge for PGMI lecturers to prepare appropriate teaching materials and strategies in order to be able to improve students' analytical skills in understanding online lecture material. The purpose of this study was to determine the problem analysis skills of PGMI IAIN Lhokseumawe students in the online learning process during the Covid 19 pandemic and student responses to the implementation of online learning during the Covid 19 pandemic. This study used descriptive qualitative research methods with the subject of second semester students of PGMI IAIN Lhokseumawe, data collection was carried out through interviews, observation and documentation study. From the research results, it was found that the majority of students already had good analytical skills where the results of the interviews revealed that students had been able to choose important material concepts and identify them into sub-material so that they were easy to understand. Students' analytical skills cannot be separated from the role of lecturers in choosing strategies and preparing appropriate learning media and being able to use information technology well. It can be concluded that the analytical skills of PGMI students in online learning look better. This can be seen from the student's ability to analyze problems with the lecture material given, namely being able to transform information and connect the material with real conditions in learning at MI.

Abstract

This research was conducted to get an overview of local heritage in teaching English in the classroom. The teaching of foreign languages is one of the factors that can affect the neglect of existing local heritage. The teacher understands the concept of cultural heritage or local wisdom. This concept is believed to be important to be applied in language teaching and learning. This is because the teaching materials presented in the English textbook contain language content that is oriented towards general knowledge and cross-cultural knowledge. This study used a qualitative method where the data sampling techniques were carried out by purposive and snowball sampling. In this study, it was found that linking external knowledge and existing knowledge in students' daily lives was considered important to enable students to express themselves in a foreign language. However, teachers are constrained by the existing curriculum targets so that the teaching of local wisdom is solely in the textbooks.

Abstract

In learning activities the teacher should have a sufficiently mature teaching plan. Teaching planning is closely related to various elements such as teaching objectives, teaching materials, learning activities, teaching methods and evaluation. These elements are an integral part of the overall responsibility of the teacher in the learning process. The role and function of teachers is one of the most important teacher qualifications. If creativity and competence are not present in a teacher, he will not be competent in doing his job and the results will not be optimal. With their creativity and competence, apart from mastering the material and being able to process teaching and learning programs, teachers are also required to be able to carry out evaluation and administration. The ability of teachers to develop the learning process and their mastery of teaching materials is not sufficient. The teacher's ability to master the class is balanced with the ability to evaluate student competency planning which is very decisive in the context of subsequent planning, or the treatment policy for students related to the concept of complete learning, therefore the function and role of the teacher in planning and implementing the learning process is a major factor. in achieving learning objectives. The skills to plan and implement this learning process are closely related to the duties and responsibilities of the teacher as an educating teacher. Teachers as educators have a very broad meaning, not just providing teaching materials, but reaching out to ethical and aesthetic behavior in facing the challenges of life in society.

Abstract

The PPL management unit at the LPTK is very important to make student teacher candidates competent. Students as prospective educators must have teacher competence, in the form of abilities and skills in managing learning properly. These abilities and skills are shown by the ability to plan lessons, carry out learning and evaluate learning. The reality is that the teacher competence of PPL students is still not optimal, such as PPL students who have not used various methods, have not implemented the learning process using a scientific approach, in addition, there are still students who are not disciplined. This study uses a qualitative approach that seeks to interpret the phenomena experienced by research subjects. The research method used is descriptive analysis method. The results showed that the teaching competence of PPL students (academic and non-academic) was generally good. It only needs strengthening in the field of developing varied learning models, strengthening social competence and self-confidence. Furthermore, there are two factors that affect student competence in school, namely internal and external factors. Then the role of the PPL unit has also been good, the process has been carried out since the preparation then continued with implementation, evaluation and follow-up. However, it is necessary to increase coordination between the PPL unit and schools, especially regarding the initial PPL preparation.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the comparative results of problem based learning (PBL) and problem solving (PS) learning models in terms of critical thinking skills in science subject content of fifth grade elementary school students. This type of research is a meta-analysis. The analysis data were obtained through online journals on Google Scholar or Scholar and after a selection of several articles was finally determined a sample of 20 relevant articles for analysis. The variable of critical thinking ability is measured through 4 indicators, namely understanding, planning, completing and checking again. Ancova test was performed to determine the difference in the effect between the PBL and PS models. The results of the Effect Size test with two learning models were Sig. of 0.003 with a partial eta squared value of 0.386. These results indicate that the PBL and PS learning models are classified as having an influence on the critical thinking skills of Science. The results of the Ancova test for the PBL learning model have an average value of 75,1154 and an average value of the PS learning model of 84.6724. So it can be concluded that the PS learning model is higher than the PBL learning model in terms of science critical thinking skills.
