Abstract

The existence of various social media platforms is a result of globalization as it is practiced today. One of the most famous social media platforms is Media TikTok. On social media TikTok, there are various videos. There are lots of educational videos available besides being fun. This has a significant impact on students' mathematical understanding abilities. This study seeks to ascertain the extent to which the social media platform TikTok affects students' math comprehension skills at SMP Negeri Bandar Khalipah sub-district. Associative research is used in this type of research along with quantitative strategies. the one-shot case study design. and pre-experimental methodology used in this study. The research population was 225 class VII students of public junior high schools in the Bandar Khalipah sub-district 2021-2022. All students of SMPN 1 and SMPN 2 with the selected classes VII-1 and VII-2, totaling 50 students, were sampled from Bandar Khalipah District. Test instruments and questionnaires were used to obtain data. Based on the results of data analysis, it is known that social media TikTok has a positive effect of 45% on students' mathematical understanding abilities at SMP Negeri Bandar Khalipah Subdistrict, and has an effect of 87.25% for SMP Negeri 1 and 87.75% for SMP Negeri 2, respectively based on the average score of math items. This shows that the average value of the two school items is quite high.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in students' mathematical problem solving abilities which were taught with STEAM model lessons assisted by LKPD and Quizizz. STEM education is defined as an integrated learning approach from the concepts of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The subjects used were class X students and samples taken in class X1 and X2 were 50 students of MA. Al-Fatah Palembang for the 2020-2021 academic year. Quasi- experimental method used in this study. STEAM model lessons assisted by LKPD and Quizizz show a higher KPMM than students who receive conventional learning, it can be seen from the count > t table, namely 9.78 > 1.71 t-test formula. Assuming that there are differences in the treatment of the control class in class X MA.Al-Fatah Palembang students, it can be concluded that the average test scores using STEAM models assisted by LKPD and Quizizz are better than conventional learning

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe students' mathematical problem-solving abilities when answering HOTS questions on the material scale. The research method is descriptive, qualitative, and quantitative. The subjects of this study were students, namely 32 students of SD Negeri 36 Payakumbuh who had been taught scale material. The data collected are the written responses of the students as well as the results of student interviews. Problem-solving ability is measured by referring to the indicators of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM). From the results of the written answer data analysis, the researcher determined 6 research subjects, namely, 2 subjects each belonging to the upper, middle, and lower groups. The results of this study indicate the ability of group problem solving to be able to understand the problem and choose the right, systematic strategy. Middle-class problem-solving ability is defined as the ability to understand the problem, select the best strategy, and not be methodical. Lower-class problem-solving ability: unable to understand the problem, unable to choose the right strategy, and not systematic in solving the problem.

Abstract

The aim of this research to analyze the improvement of mathematical representation ability students who learning using online mathematics games better than conventionally of junior high school students in Lhokseumawe. The research method is quantitative of quasi experimental method. The population is all grade VIII students at SMPN Negeri 2 Lhokseumawe, SMP Negeri 3 Lhokseumawe, SMP Swasta Sukma Bangsa Lhokseumawe. Sample selection using random sampling class technique. The research instruments used form of representation test and observation sheet. Data analysis begins with a test of normality and homogeneity, the data is analyzed using t-tests of the hypotheses that have been formulated. The results showed that the improve of the mathematical representation ability which taught using online mathematics games better than students taught conventionally of junior high school students in Lhokseumawe

Abstract

Prospective math teacher students are prepared to become math teachers where they will teach school mathematics, but students need to be equipped with pure mathematics such as abstract algebra which is the foundation of mathematics itself and not only given school mathematics knowledge, so students can learn to form a solid understanding of mathematics . The structure of mathematics, including abstract algebra, is generally consistent, logical, systematic, making everyone who studies it requires complex abilities, so it often makes people who study it experience difficulties and feel unrelated to their preparation for teaching school mathematics. The purpose of this research is to find out how students as prospective teachers develop their understanding of the relationship between Abstract Algebra courses and mathematics taught in schools through each essential question and project in the form of abstract algebra applications in everyday life, school mathematics and other fields after attending Algebra lectures. abstract. The method used in this study is a quantitative method with a pretest-posttest group design using the Wilcoxon non-parametric test. Data collection through questionnaires, and student interviews. The results of the study show that through a series of abstract algebra lectures students realize that abstract algebra courses are the foundation for teaching school mathematics because the use of abstract algebra material is closely related to everyday life, school mathematics and other fields.

Abstract

The aims of this study were (1) to find out the differences in the ability to understand mathematical concepts between students in classes who received problem posing learning and students in classes who received conventional learning. (2) Knowing the differences in the ability to understand mathematical concepts between students in the high, medium and low groups in terms of the level of mastery of mathematics. (3) Knowing the interaction between the learning model and the level of mastery of mathematics in the ability to understand mathematical concepts. This research is an experimental research with research units determined based on learning groups and the level of students' mastery of mathematics. Learning groups are divided into two, namely problem posing learning and conventional learning. While the level of students' mastery of mathematics is divided into high, medium and low groups. The population in this study were all students of class XI IPA at SMAN Al-Falah. The research sample was class XI IPA 1 as the experimental class and class XI IPA 2 as the control class. Based on the results of data analysis, the following conclusions are obtained: (1) There are differences in the ability to understand mathematical concepts between students who receive problem posing learning and students who receive conventional learning. (2) There are differences in the ability to understand mathematical concepts between students in the high and medium and high and low groups. But there is no difference in the ability to understand mathematical concepts between students in the medium and low groups.

Abstract

This research uses a qualitative approach with the aim of knowing the teacher’s performance in conducting assessments in accordance with learning mathematics to achieve certain competencies in public junior high schools in the Makassar district. Data collection technique using documentation technique, observation technique, and interview technique. The research subjects were 3 mathematics teachers at Rappocini Middle School, Makassar District. The results of the study show that the teacher’s performance in planing cognitive assessments in mathematics at state Junior High School in the makassar city district is able to develop assessments tools that are in accordance with learning objective to achieve certain comptencies as written in the lesson plans. Meanwhile, teacher performance in carrying out cognitve assessments in the subject of mathematics in public middle schools in the district of Makassar city, namely carrying out assessments with various assessmnets technique and announcing the results and their implications for students, regarding the level of understanding of the learning material that has been and will be studied. Teacher performance in analyzing appropriate cognitive assessments by learning mathematics to achieve certain competencies in state Junior High School throughout the District of Makassar City, namely partly analyzing the results of the assessments to identify diffuclt basic indicators/competencies so that the strengths and weaknesses of each studnets are known for remedial and enrcihment purpose. The teacher’s performance in reflecting on the results of cognitive assessments in accordance with learning mathematics achive certain competencies in public middle schools in the district of Makassar City, namely that they have not maximaized/utilized input from students so that they do not reflect enough to imprive learning.
