Abstract

Abstract: One of the outstanding sign of modernity that occurred on the eve of tweentieth century was the shifting on transportation mode. The convertion from horsepower to machine gave important impact on city life. This article describes impacts of this new means of transportation to the city space and the inhabitant who live on it. The first result includes transportation comersialisation, the implementation of tax on wagon, car and street. Second outcome was increasing of street accident. One reason is the static perception of the people who ride and walk along the street, eventhough the situation of transportation have changed.

Abstract

Abstract: One of traditions still maintained by Yogyakarta society is grebeg kraton. Issues appointed in this paper are; first, how does Javanese society interpret phenomenon of grebeg Kraton Yogyakarta in the present time? Second, can remaking of a tradition be conducted so that it is able to create a new tradition? Method used in this research was qualitative research method. Data collection was conducted using observation technique, observation participatory, and depth interview.The discussion results showed; first, that in the present time which has been considered as modern age there are apparently Javanese society who still believes the existence of King’s blessing through goods media in form of Grebeg Mountains. Second, grebeg mountains tradition, in fact, can be reproduced or remade by Kraton Yogyakarta (Yogyakarta Palace) and society who hold mass movement pisowanan ageng on May 20, 1998 to demand Soeharto the President to retreat. The society who came in groups to Sultan in Alun-alun Lor Kraton Yogyakarta (North Square of Yogyakarta Palace) got foods and drinks freely in road banks toward the Palace. The model of grebeg mountains was remade become Sultan’s appeal to the society around the roads passed by mass of pisowanan ageng in order the society provides free foods and drinks to the mass.

Abstract

Abstract: The rationalization theory is one of some social theory that is important to face communication information age now. The expert that blowed this theory is Weber that suggested the conviction role and act in social change, but in contemporary social age now, Jürgen Habermas criticized this theory. The problems that make in communication and information age now is the present of cyber that lost face to face presenting. The context of communication setting of cyber world is much different to face to face world. Because of that, it is needed analysis to appropriate to rationalization theory, communication act rationalization theory especially. The irrationalization things that leads the subject past through rationalization follows in the footsteps irrationalization and reach act out of instinct. The new theory that was borned form the criticize to the communicative act of rationalization theory of Jürgen Habermas is the contextually communicative from irrationalization act rationalization theory (cyber world), where the context of communicative act cyber give much different influence to the fact. This theory is an alternatif of new theory of communicative act at post reality age now.

Abstract

Abstract: After the cupdeta of communist party in 1965, there was massive effort of non-Tengger ethnic community to penetrate the nation’s religions (Hindu, Budha, Christian, and Islam) into the Tengger ethnic community who were considered as ‘no-religion’ ethnic. Consequently, the Tengger people who had already believed in “Budo” as the only accepted Tenggerese’s religion had to be able to converse their religion. The phenomenon caused the emergence of ‘sincretism’ between their original religion and the nation’s religion with all consequences. The condition, in certain cases, needs to get much attention related to the change of traditional ritual of mountain society with its own local wisdom.

Abstract

Abstract: This research is itended to trace the roots of conflict causes at city of Jerrusalem. The four steps taken of this research method are heuristic, source critique, interpretation and historiography. The findings of this research are (1) in fact, Jerusalem is a city always involved in conflict. There are several nations that have involved conflicts at this city, namely The Kan’an, Philistine, Jew, Babylonian, Asyyrian, Persia, Greece, Roman, Arabian-Islamic, and Roman-Christian; (2) In the contemporary era, Jerussalem is still the source of conflict between Palestine (Islam) and Jew; (3) The United Nations Organization declares that Jerrusalem is in international under control as corpus separatum.

Abstract

Abstract: Controversy is always being part of history, and even the relationship between history and controversy always can’t be separated. Controversy in history actually can indicate as health climate of academic. Eventhough controversial history triggering emotive situation between historians and their supporters, history is more interesting when it has different versions. The problem is on how to manage the emotive and controversial history in learning situation at school. Teaching emotive and controversial history can be separated into dichotomy aspects, in one side it gives problems in learning situation, but in the other hand it give challenges for teacher to sustain interesting and enjoyble of history learning.

Abstract

Abstract: The objective of this article to show political movement during Japanese colonialism era in Indonesia. The fields of political movement described are in many fields such as politics, economy, social, culture and military. There is a movement pattern, including movement tactics and strategy that supports and resists to Japanese Government. The movement supporting Japanese Government is borned by Japan, namely Gerakan Tiga A, Barisan Pemuda Asia Raya, POETERA, Jawa Hokokai, Tjoeo Sangi In, Seinendan, Keibodan, Barisan Pelopor, Heiho, Tonari Gumi, PETA, Gerakan Rakyat Baru. At the opposite side, there are several independent movements that rebel to Japan, such as Angkataan Muda Indonesia, Gerakan Angkatan Barau Indonesia, Ika Daigaku, Pemberontakan Sukamanah, Pemberontakan Karanagampeel

Abstract

Abstract: Bahtsul masail is a scientific forum conducted by santri and Kyai to discuss vary of society problems, including religious, economical, political and social problems. The interesting phenomenon of this forum is the existence of yellow book (kitab kuning) as main reference in every decision making. The reuslts of Bahstul matsail are heterogen and dinamics that means many problems can be given its way out based on their reason and reference book. The main basic of thinking in decision making is goodness for people without neglecting rules of religious standard. It is viewed as moral obligation of Kyai and Santri thorought Pesantren as religious tradisional institution to mantain society situation and condition in order to approriate with religious norms.
