Abstract

Citric acid is crystalline organic acid which is widely used in industries.The requirement of this acid tends to increase every year, following the industrial deve­lopment. Along with this line, it is there for necessary to look for cheap and readily available material to fulfill the demand Citric acid fermentation is an extremely complex process so in order to obtain higher concentration of citric acid, some main factors should be taken in concentration, for example, microorganism, medium composition, aeration, ratio volume to area surface and medium strirring. In addition, the problem of citric acid industry is the waste product. Because it can make pollution if it pilled up abudantly. Actually the organic solid waste can be used for compost as organic fertilizer, and an­ organic solid waste can be used for home decoration and so on.

Abstract

"The role of quality control in Development Division for fertilizer and petro chemical (Balai Pengembangan Pupuk dan Petrokimia) include raw material and product testing. In 1986 - 1987, they were three hundred eighty four commodities had been tested, sixty three were not certified with mayority of salt, resin alkyd modifikasi minyak nabati and hewani, carbon active and water commodities. It is very important to improve quality of products, so they will accomplish their standard.

Abstract

Polystyren is linear polymer which thermoplastic made with syntesa from one or more monomer eg : styren, aerylonitril and butadien. The ·bases of making polystyren is polymeritation reaction. Polymeritation have 5 bypes, each type has characteristicand used difficult. Polymerita­tion process have variaty technique where it is goodness and likensess.

Abstract

The importance of particle size in relation to activity have been reviewed. Studies with DDT indicated that there is an inverse relationship exists between the DDT crystal size and effectiveness. Field tests with chlorpyrifos showed that finer particled wettable powder were more active againts the cotton bollwonn than the larger particles which formed on the plant from emulsion sprays. But, control of codling moth with chlor­ pyrifos showed that a larger particled wettable powder remains toxic to just inster larvae for longer than finer particles. Other experiments showed that first inster larvae of cabbage white Butterfly picked up and dropped tha largest particles of carbaryl, whilethe smallest adhere too strongly to the plant surface.

Abstract

Detoxication is the transformation of a toxic substance into a less toxic  product. Detoxication of the pesticide contaminated waste water can be done by biota and abiota. Detoxication by biota may involve one or more the following reactions : oxidations, dechlorinations, reductions, hydrolysis, aromatic ring cleavage, etc. Detoxication by abiota may involved physical and chemical treatment. Three types of pesticide conta­minated waste water were prepared in theis experiment. The first type contain MIPC, the second Carbofuran and the other BPMC. The concentration of each type are carried out after 1,2,3, and 4 weeks. The result indicate that the longer detoxication time is better result, the kind of toxicants affected detoxication product, KOH is stronger than NaOH.
