Abstract

AbstractIn this paper—through four barometers—writer predicts future ASEAN Community 2015: (1) geography, which is shaped continents or islands, (2) etnicity, homogeneous or hiterogen, (3) the intensity of the war in the past, how often and big? and (4) how much of the political will of key policy makers to create a regional community?. At the end of the article concluded that the ASEAN community 2015, apparently through steep winding road, if not fail.Key words: community, regionality, integration

Abstract

AbstractThe article is meant to know further China’s background in increasing its military expenditure through describing its armed forces’ defense policy especially in its military expenditure and by seeing how far the impact of China’s defense policy, especially in East Asian region, is. Based on the gathered data actually the increase of China’s military expenditure is a natural and realistic thing and it is not supposed to evoke a concern from other countries. This is because other countries could haveperformed what China is performing by, of course, measuring the countries’ ability.Key Words: Increase on military  expenditure, East Asian region, China’s economic growth,  China’s armed forces’ modernization, maritime territorial dispute and China- Japan relationship.

Abstract

AbstractIn the 1998-2009 period, Indonesia is in the multidimensional crisis conditions and the threat of a split in the (disintegration) of the nation and also the threat appears to come from outside such as claims or annexation of the small islands of Indonesia by other countries. In the course of the history of thought and policy of NU in the reform era (1998-2009) shows that NU plays an important role in maintaining the sovereignty of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia territory. National ideology which is owned by the NU was based on a religious basis in addition to all the objective conditions of the nation and a pluralistic nation of Indonesia. National ideology is what makes NU known as a nationalist Islamic organization. From the ideological basis of nationality is also the NU at the forefront in safeguarding the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia territory.Key Words : Nahdlatul Ulama, Thought, Policy, Nationalism, the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia territory

Abstract

Abstract As a social networking website, Facebook is not only struggling in terms of companionship, but also has penetrated into the other things, including politics. Its usage has evolved from merely socializing to news of politics, fundraising, gathering masses and voicing public opinion, among others. Even Indonesian political situation recently added that as technology advances, the virtual world or the Internet, especially Facebook, should be the next pillar of democracy. Abstract

Abstract This article examines the process of democratic transition that took place in several countries, especially Indonesia. Where is the democratic transition is the collapse of authoritarian regimes, the situation toward a democratic regime. But in reality it is not got to the transition towards a democratic regime, but can return to an authoritarian regime where there is a failure in the process of consolidating civilian, even a democratic transition happens now is controlled by the democratic form of market neo-liberalism. Indonesia is no exception to the democratic transition by adherence to a market democracy. Keywords: transition to democracy, authoritarian, democratic market
