Abstract

Genteng merupakan salah satu komponen penting pembangunan perumahan yang memiliki fungsi untuk melindungi rumah dari suhu,hujan maupun fungsi lainnya. Agar kualitas genteng optimal, maka daya serap air harus seminimal munhkin, agar kebocoran dapat diminimalisir. Metode yang digunakan untuk mengoptimalkan daya serap air genteng adalah Taguchi. Dalam penelitian ini terdiri 4 variabel bebas masing-masing 2 level faktor yaitu tanahliat, (80% dan 85%), Pasir (14% dan 10%), semen merah (5%t dan 3.5%), Dolumite (1% dan 1.5%)). Sedangkan variabel responnya adalah daya serap air. Karakteristik kualitas yang digunakan adalah smaller the better. Berdasarkan Analysis of Variansi menunjukkan bahwa untuk mengoptimalkan daya serap air, agra genteng tidak mudah bocor komposisi tanah liat, pasir, semen merah dan dolumite memberikan persen kontribusi masing-masing 16.45%, 19.69%, 20.59% dan 5.27%. Kondisi optimal daya serap air dicapai pada variasi A1B1C1D2, artinya komposisi tanah liat 80%, pasir 14%, semen merah 5% dan dolumite 1.5%. Perbandingan variasi kondisi sebelum dan sesudah dilakukan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan nilai S/N dari (-20.454 menjadi -18.712), penurunan stadart deviasi drai (1.553 menjadi 1.25). Nilai Cp dan CPk mengalami peningkatan dari (0.999 menjadi 1.234), artinya bahwa proses pembuatan genteng Soka, capable karena nilai Cp>1 seiring dengan meningkatnya fungsi nilai keuntungan sebesar 34.4 cents/$1loss.

Abstract

This paper was a case study during the sabatical program at Kingston University London in February 2007. It has been studied by team of motorsport automotive department Kingston University London and it has been elaborated as a final project on Master Program. This study takes into account some of the issues surrounding the debate about alcohol fuels in Motorsport and the wider automotive sector and is primarily concerned to add data where there seems to be little existing research since Motorsport is a secretive business. Motorsport plays an important part in the automotive industry and is a sport enjoyed worldwide. Racing practice is regarded as using the best available resources and technology as it requires optimal performance. The racing arena gives engineers the opportunity to test valuable technological solutions to prove their merits. Therefore, racing is the natural starting point for introducing new technological solutions to the public and could lead to the wholesale conversion to renewable fuels to meet our automotive energy needs. Alcohol has unique properties that make superior in many ways to ordinary gasoline. The higher knock resistance allows for higher compression ratios to be utilized resulting in higher power outputs and thermal efficiency. The efficient use of energy is of growing concern in all spheres of life and the automotive sector needs to be front runner in these efforts.

Abstract

Baja SCMnCr merupakan baja produk pengecoran produksi PT. Baja Kurnia Klaten. Untuk mengetahui apakah baja ini sudah memenuhi standar kekuatan JIS G 5111 dengan kekuatan tarik minimum 590 N/mm2 , maka dilakukan pengujian struktur mikro dan kekuatan pada raw material. Pengujian kekuatan pada raw material baja ini memperlihatkan hasil dibawah standar yaitu kekuatan tariknya 539.21 N/mm2 . Oleh karena itu dilakukan proses normalizing dan tempering pada baja SCMnCr2 untuk memenuhi standar tersebut. Sesudah dilakukan proses heat treatment Baja SCMnCr2 diuji strukturmikro dan kekuatan tariknya. Foto struktur mikro baja SCMnCr2 setelah dinormalizing dan kemudian ditempering memperlihatkan butir yang lebih kecil dibanding raw materialnya.. Setelah dilakukan normalizing dan tempering harga kekuatan naik menjadi 685.51 N/mm2 dan akan menurun menjadi 664.21N/mm2 ketika waktu penahanan tempering diperlama menjadi 45 menit. Hal ini disebabkan karena meningkatnya ukuran butir ferit dan perlit.

Abstract

Kekhawatiran akan semakin menipisnya dan mahalnya Bahan Bakar Minyak (BBM) semakin terasa dalam beberapa tahun terakhir  sehingga timbul pemikiran untuk mengolah biomas yang kurang termanfaatkan menjadi bahan bakar alternatif. Sabut kelapa belum termanfaatkan sepenuhnya, padahal sabut kelapa merupakan biomas dengan kandungan energi yang relatif besar. Apabila sabut kelapa tersebut diolah bersama-sama dengan batu bara, bahan perekat dan zat pengikat polutan akan menjadi satu bahan bakar padat buatan sebagai bahan bakar alternatif. Dalam penelitian ini, yang akan diteliti adalah karakteristik pembakaran biobriket campuran sabut kelapa dan batubara lignite (70% : 30%),  dengan bahan perekat pati kanji dan tetes tebu yang komposisinya masing-masing 1 gram, 2 gram dan 3 gram. Biobriket yang diteliti mendapatkan perlakuan yang sama, yaitu tekanan pengepresan 100 kg/cm2, berat biobriket 4 g dan pada saat proses pembakaran kecepatan udara dibuat 0,3 m/s, temperatur dinding 1000 C-1200C, temperatur preheater 520C-560C serta temperatur udara 340C-380C. Dari penelitian didapatkan bahwa karakteristik pembakaran biobriket yang baerbahan perekat pati memiliki temperatur pembakaran yang lebih tinggi dan tetes tebu menghasilkan polusi yang lebih tinggi.

Abstract

This paper discuss about ceramics in application as bone implant. Bioceramics for instance Hydroxyapatite, usually is abbreviated with HA or HAp, is a mineral that is very good physical properties as bone replacement in human body. To produce Hydroxyapatite, coating process is used which have good potential as they can exploit the biocompatible and bone bonding properties of the ceramic. There are many advantages and disadvantages of bioceramics as bone implant. Advantages of hydroxyapatite as bone implant are rapidly integrated into the human body, and is most interesting property that will bond to bone forming indistinguishable unions. On contrary, disadvantages of hydroxyapatite as bone implant are poor mechanical properties (in particular fatigue properties) mean that hydroxyapatite cannot be used in bulk form for load bearing applications such as orthopaedics and poor adhesion between the calcium phosphate coating and the material implant will occur.

Abstract

Nature composite from skin rice fibre and palm sago fibre have different mechanical and physycs properties characteristic , that have done from result of our researh before. Therefore there is many research that can composse the properties of materials above. The methode of compossing two fiber use poliester that have 20%, 30%, and 40% volume fraction of that matrice, compossing with sandwich layer. Caracterizing properties testing used are thermal conductivity test, and bending test. The result are, at high thermal condition the conductivity was decrease for all above materials. The decreasing of conductivity of this sandwich compsite is more significant. The sandwich composite more tough than skin rice fibre composite. The resume is the mechanical properties ( bending toughness) more less significant of the thermal conductivity that more better.
