Abstract

This research aimed to know the effectiveness of using Tomatis Method to improve the students’ listening skill and to know the student activeness toward teaching learning process through Tomatis Method at the tenth grade students of SMK Negeri 2 Makssar. The method of this research consisted of two cycles. One cycle consisted of four meetings. It means that there were eight meetings for two cycles. As subject in this research was class X in 2012-2013 academic year with students’ number as about 36 students, 23 of the students are men and 13 students are women. The instruments of this research were observation sheet and listening test or evaluation. The findings of the research were students’ improvement in listening was 64.55 in cycle I and then it became 73.93 in cycle II. The students’ participation in learning listening process in the first meeting of cycle I was 59.02% then it became 81.25% in fourth meeting of cycle II.Keywords: Tomatis Method, Listening, Improve.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas penggunaan metode Tomatis untuk meningkatkan keterampilan mendengarkan siswa dan untuk mengetahui keaktifan siswa terhadap proses belajar mengajar melalui Metode Tomatis pada siswa kelas X SMK Negeri 2 Makassar. Metode penelitian ini terdiri dari dua siklus. Satu siklus terdiri dari empat pertemuan. Ini berarti bahwa ada delapan pertemuan selama dua siklus. Sebagai subyek dalam penelitian ini adalah kelas X pada tahun akademik 2012-2013 dengan jumlah siswa sebagai sekitar 36 siswa, 23 siswa laki-laki dan 13 siswa perempuan. Instrumen penelitian ini adalah lembar observasi dan tes atau evaluasi mendengarkan. Temuan penelitian ini adalah peningkatan siswa dalam mendengarkan adalah 64,55 pada siklus I dan kemudian menjadi 73,93 pada siklus II. Partisipasi siswa dalam proses belajar mendengarkan di pertemuan pertama siklus I adalah 59, 02% maka menjadi 81, 25% di pertemuan keempat siklus II.Kata Kunci: Metode Tomatis, Mendengarkan, Meningkatkan.

Abstract

The objective of the research is to know the improvement of the students’ reading comprehension using double entry journal technique at the second year students’ of SMA Neg. 1 Pasui. This research is a classroom action research consist of two cycles, the mean score of the students’ reading comprehension for diagnostic-Test is 5.95 which is categorized as poor classification. While the mean score of the students’ reading comprehension in cycle I was 6.39. It is higher than the students’’ D-Test. But the result was still not significant, because it is still categorized as fair and under the KKM 60. So the research is continued to the cycle II and the mean score of the students’ reading comprehension of cycle II was 6.82. Having analyzed the data, it can be stated that the students’ reading comprehension at the second year in class XI of SMA Neg.1 Pasui is poor level before applying the double entry journal technique, but after applying the technique in the second cycle, the students’ reading comprehension is classified as good categories.    Key words: Reading Comprehension, Double Entry Journal Technique.Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peningkatan pemahaman membaca siswa menggunakan teknik jurnal double entry pada siswa tahun kedua di SMA Neg. 1 Pasui. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas terdiri dari dua siklus, nilai rata-rata dari pemahaman membaca siswa untuk diagnostik-Test adalah 5.95 yang dikategorikan sebagai klasifikasi kurang. Sementara nilai rata-rata dari membaca pemahaman siswa pada siklus I adalah 6, 39. Ini lebih tinggi dari D-Test siswa. Tapi hasilnya masih belum signifikan, karena masih dikategorikan sebagai cukup dan di bawah KKM 60. Jadi penelitian dilanjutkan ke siklus II dan nilai rata-rata dari pemahaman membaca siswa dari siklus II adalah 6.82. Setelah menganalisis data, dapat dinyatakan bahwa pemahaman membaca siswa di tahun kedua pada kelas XI SMA Neg.1 Pasui adalah tingkatan kurang sebelum menerapkan teknik jurnal double entry, tapi setelah menerapkan teknik dalam siklus kedua, pemahaman membaca siswa diklasifikasikan sebagai kategori baik.Kata Kunci: Membaca Pemahaman, Double Masuk Journal Teknik.

Abstract

This research aimed to explain the improvement of the students’ reading comprehension in terms of literal comprehension dealing with and word meaning main ideas and interpretive comprehension dealing conclusion. To explain the improvement, the researcher used a classroom action research (CAR) which was conducted in two cycles in which every cycle consisted of four meetings. The location of this research was taken at the first semester students of English Education Department with a number of the subject were 25 students. The research findings indicated that the application of Inquiry Method was significant in improving the students’ reading comprehension in terms of literal comprehension and interpretive comprehension. It was proved by the mean score of cycle I was 68, 47. It was classified as fair then improved to be 81, 20. It was classified as good in cycle II. They are higher than the mean score of diagnostic test namely 58.40 that classified as poor. Therefore there was the improvement of the students’ reading comprehension in terms of literal comprehension dealing with word meaning and main ideas and interpretive comprehension dealing conclusion.Keywords: Inquiry, Reading, Comprehension, Method.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan peningkatan pemahaman membaca siswa dalam hal pemahaman literal dengan dan kata yang berarti ide-ide utama dan pemahaman interpretatif menyimpulkan kesimpulan. Untuk menjelaskan peningkatan, peneliti menggunakan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang dilakukan dalam dua siklus di mana setiap siklus terdiri dari empat pertemuan. Lokasi penelitian ini diambil pada mahasiswa semester I Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris dengan sejumlah subjek 25 mahasiswa. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan metode Inquiry signifikan dalam meningkatkan pemahaman membaca mahasiswa dalam hal pemahaman literal dan pemahaman interpretatif. Hal itu dibuktikan dengan nilai rata-rata dari siklus I adalah 68, 47. Itu diklasifikasikan sebagai cukup kemudian ditingkatkan menjadi 81, 20. Hal itu tergolong baik pada siklus II. Mereka lebih tinggi dari nilai rata-rata dari tes diagnostik yaitu 58, 40 yang tergolong kurang. Oleh karena itu, ada peningkatan pemahaman membaca mahasiswa dalam hal pemahaman literal menyimpulkan dengan makna kata dan ide-ide utama dan pemahaman interpretatif menyimpulkan kesimpulan.Kata Kunci: Penyelidikan, Membaca, Pemahaman, Metode.

Abstract

The research aimed at improving the ability of the Eleventh grade students of Senior High School of Unismuh Makassar in writing descriptive text using the Brain-Sketching Technique. For the purpose, it employed Classroom Action Research in which the researcher worked in planning, implementation, observation, and reflection on the data collected from the teaching and learning process and the students writing products. The method of this research is Classroom Action Research that consists of two cycles. One cycle consisted of four meetings. It means that there were eight meetings for two cycles. This classroom action research was done in Senior High School of Unismuh Makassar for English subject. As subjects in this research is class XI IPA 2 in 2012-2013 academic years which consists of 26 students. Those consisted of 14 women and 12 men. The instruments used were writing test and observation sheet. The study was conducted in diagnostic test, cycle one and cycles two, each cycle was carried out in four meetings.  The objective of the research was intended to know the improvement of the students’ writing ability after using Brain-Sketching Technique at the Eleventh grade students of Senior High School of Unismuh Makassar. The findings indicated that using Brain-Sketching Technique could improve the students ability in writing descriptive text. Before giving implementation the researcher gave the students diagnostic test and the mean score of diagnostic test was 63.90 as classification “fairly good”. Then the researcher conducted the first cycle and the second cycles, and the result showed that the students scores in the first and second cycles improved. In the first cycle, the mean score of students was 67.22 as classification “fairly good”, meanwhile the mean score of students in the second cycle was 71.41 as classification “good. It means that the improvement of students’ writing ability from D-Test to cycle I was 5.21%, cycle I to cycle II was 6.22%, D- test to cycle II was 11.73%. Keywords: Brain-Sketching, Technique, Descriptive, Text, Writing.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa di kelas XI SMA Unismuh Makassar dalam menulis teks deskriptif dengan menggunakan Teknik Brain-sketsa. Untuk itu, Penelitian melibatkan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dimana peneliti melaksanakan dalam perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi pada data yang dikumpulkan dari proses belajar mengajar dan produk menulis siswa. Metode penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang terdiri dari dua siklus. Satu siklus terdiri dari empat pertemuan. Ini berarti bahwa ada delapan pertemuan selama dua siklus. Penelitian tindakan kelas ini dilakukan di SMA Unismuh Makassar untuk pelajaran bahasa Inggris. Sebagai subyek dalam penelitian ini adalah kelas XI IPA 2 pada tahun akademik 2012-2013 yang terdiri dari 26 siswa. Mereka terdiri dari 14 perempuan dan 12 laki-laki. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes tertulis dan lembar observasi. Penelitian dilakukan pada tes diagnostik, siklus satu dan siklus dua, masing-masing siklus dilakukan dalam empat pertemuan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan menulis siswa setelah menggunakan Teknik Brain-sketsa pada siswa di kelas XI SMA Unismuh Makassar. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa menggunakan Teknik Brain-Sketsa dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks deskriptif. Sebelum memberikan implementasi peneliti memberi siswa tes diagnostik dan nilai rata-rata dari tes diagnostik adalah 63, 90 sebagai klasifikasi "cukup baik". Kemudian peneliti melakukan siklus pertama dan siklus kedua, dan hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa nilai siswa dalam siklus pertama dan kedua ditingkatkan. Pada siklus pertama, nilai rata-rata siswa adalah 67,22 sebagai klasifikasi "cukup baik", sementara nilai rata-rata siswa pada siklus kedua adalah 71,41 sebagai klasifikasi "baik. Ini berarti bahwa peningkatan kemampuan menulis siswa dari D-Test untuk siklus I adalah 5, 21%, siklus I ke siklus II adalah 6, 22%, uji D- ke siklus II adalah 11, 73%.Kata Kunci: Otak-sketsa, Teknik, deskriptif, Teks, Menulis.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to find out the improvement of the students’ writing ability in terms of content and organization through Venn Diagram Method at Class A students of Intensive English Class. This research used Classroom Action Research (CAR). It had conducted two cycles. Where each cycle is consisted of four meeting. It employed writing test as instrument. The number subject of the research were 28 students and consist of 5 men and 23 women. Implementation of the first and the second cycle during the four meeting. Technique of the data collection used the cycle, based on the material being taught. Based on the findings of the research, the improvement of the students’ writing ability in content and organization were significant improved. Where the mean score in content was 7.79 and mean score in organization was 7.57. It’s mean that by using Venn Diagram method can improve the students’ writing ability.Keywords: Venn Diagram, Method, Writing.Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan menulis siswa dalam hal konten dan organisasi melalui Metode Diagram Venn Mahasiswa di Kelas A, Intensive English Class. Penelitian ini menggunakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Penelitian ini telah dilakukan dua siklus. Dimana setiap siklus terdiri dari empat pertemuan. Penelitian melibatkan tes menulis sebagai instrumen. Jumlah Subjek penelitian adalah 28 siswa dan terdiri dari 5 laki-laki dan 23 perempuan. Pelaksanaan siklus pertama dan kedua selama empat pertemuan. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan siklus, berdasarkan materi yang diajarkan. Berdasarkan temuan penelitian, peningkatan kemampuan menulis mahasiswa dalam konten dan organisasi yang signifikan ditingkatkan. Dimana nilai rata-rata dalam konten adalah 7.79 dan berarti nilai dalam organisasi adalah 7.57. Ini berarti bahwa dengan menggunakan metode Diagram Venn dapat meningkatkan kemampuan menulis mahasiswa.Kata Kunci: Diagram Venn, Metode, Menulis.

Abstract

This research was intended to explain the students’ speaking accuracy and fluency through Three-Step Interview Method in class XI-2 of SMA Negeri 2 Bantaeng in the 2011/2012 academic year. This research used A Classroom Action Research (CAR). It had conducted in two cycles; each cycle consisted of four meetings. The subjects of this research were students in class XI-2 involved 40 students. Those consisted of 30 women and 10 men. The researcher took real data from the class to know the students’ speaking ability. The instruments of this research were speaking test and observation sheet in cycle I and in cycle II. The research findings indicated that the Three-Step Interview Method improved the students’ speaking ability covered students’ accuracy and fluency in class XI-2 of SMA Negeri 2 Bantaeng. It was indicated that there was improvement of the students’ speaking ability from diagnostic test to cycle I and from that to cycle II. The students’ diagnostic test of speaking ability was (5.47) and after gave action by using three-step interview method indicated that there was improvement from diagnostic test to cycle I and from that to cycle II. The students’ speaking ability in cycle I was 63.00% and in cycle II become 76.50% and it was classified as good. While the standard target scores 70% one which was categorized good. From these findings, there was a significant improvement of the students’ speaking ability through Three-Step Interview Method. Based on the result finding the research concludes that Three-Step Interview Method can improve the students’ speaking ability.Keywords: Application, Three-Step, Increase, Speaking. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan akurasi berbicara siswa dan kelancaran melalui Tiga Langkah Metode Wawancara di kelas XI-2 SMA Negeri 2 Bantaeng pada tahun akademik 2011/2012. Penelitian ini menggunakan sebuah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Hal itu dilakukan dalam dua siklus; setiap siklus terdiri dari empat pertemuan. Hal itu menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan kemampuan berbicara siswa dari tes diagnostik untuk siklus I dan dari siklus ke II. Tes diagnostik siswa dari kemampuan berbicara adalah (5.47) dan setelah diberikan tindakan dengan menggunakan metode wawancara tiga langkah menunjukkan bahwa ada perbaikan dari tes diagnostik untuk siklus I dan dari siklus yang ke II. Kemampuan siswa berbicara pada siklus I adalah 63, 00% dan pada siklus II menjadi 76, 50% dan itu tergolong baik. Sementara nilai sasaran standar 70% satu yang dikategorikan baik. Dari temuan ini, ada peningkatan yang signifikan dari kemampuan berbicara siswa melalui Tiga-Langkah Metode Wawancara. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menemukan kesimpulan bahwa Metode Tiga Langkah Wawancara dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa.Kata Kunci: Aplikasi, Tiga-Langkah, Meningkatkan, Berbicara.

Abstract

The Implementation of “ARIAS” Strategy to Increase Students’ Speaking Skill at SMA Negeri 1 Bungoro. The objective of the research is intend to know the increasing of the students’ accuracy and fluency in speaking through ARIAS strategy at third year students’ of SMA Negeri 1 Bungoro. The method of this research is classroom action research consist of two cycles. Both of cycles consist of four meetings. It means that there are eight meetings for two cycles. The subject in this research is X.3 Senior High School in 2011-2012 academic years. That consists of 17 women and 35 men. Abstract

This research was attempted to find out the achievement of the sixth-semester students of English Department of Muhammadiyah University of Makassar especially Academic Year 2008 in understanding pragmatics meaning of the written utterances. This study employed a Descriptive research method. The sample of this study consisted of 40 students of the Sixth Semester Students of English Department Muhammadiyah University of Makassar which was selected by using simple random sampling. The instrument of the study was an objective test in the form of the checklist and identifying the locutionary, illocutionary, and perlocutionary acts of written utterances which consisted of 35 items. The test was administered to know the students’ achievement in understanding the pragmatic meaning of written utterances. The data obtained from the test was analyzed quantitatively. The mean score obtained from the test was 5, 87 for the locutionary act, 6, 12 for the illocutionary act, and 6, 09 for the perlocutionary act. The data showed that the students’ achievement in understanding the pragmatics meaning of written utterances especially the three layers of speech acts was fair. Abstract

The objective of the research is to find out the improvement of the students’ reading achievement. It is done through cooperative learning STAD type method. It is a classroom action research at the first-grade students of SMP Kartika XX-3 Makassar. The research was conducted in two cycles in which every cycle consisted of four meetings. This research was held at the first year students of SMP KARTIKA XX-3 MAKASSAR. The subject of this research was class VII.B in 2011/2012 academic year. The students’ improvement in reading comprehension could be seen in their mean score namely 5,59 in D-test, 6,33 in cycle 1 and then it became 7,29 in cycle 11. The students’ literal reading comprehension dealing with the main idea and meaning of the word sentence in reading the text was 5, 65 in D-test 6, 44 in cycle 1 and it became 7, 65 in cycle 11. In D-test in the first meeting, the percentage of students’ activeness is 69%, and in the second meeting is 75%, and in the third meeting is 77% while in the last meeting is 82%. And then after the evaluation in the cycle II the improvement of the students’ reading comprehension. Key Word: Reading, STAD type.

Abstract

The research aimed to find out the improvement of students’ reading comprehension in terms of finding main ideas and meaning of words at the students’ of SMPN 4 Libureng in the 2012/2013 academic year. This research used A Classroom Action Research that consisted two cycles. The sample of this research consisted of 22 students, those consisted of six women and twelve men.The researcher obtained the data by using reading test and observation sheet. The results of the student's reading test in cycle I and cycle II had significantly different scores.  There was a better increase of gains by students at the end of the action in the second cycle. In the cycle, I, the students’ achievement of main ideas was 6,09, but after evaluation in cycle II, the students’ reading comprehension become 7,62.The other hand the students’ meaning of words was improved too from cycle I to cycle II, whereas in the students’ achievement of the meaning of words was 6,13, but after evaluation in cycle II, the students’ achievement becomes 7,74. From the findings indicated that there was the improvement in the students’ reading comprehension from cycle I to cycle II, whereas in cycle I students’ achievement reading comprehension was 23,81, but after evaluating in cycle II the students’ reading comprehension became 25,69. While the standard target achievement KKM 66. From these findings, the researcher made the conclusion that by using an eclectic approach could improve the students’ reading comprehension achievement.   Key Word: Eclectic Approach, Improve, Reading Comprehension
