Abstract

Due to the sensitivity of the Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) applications and resource constraints, authentication and key management emerge as a challenging issue for WSN. In general, various approaches have been developed for the key management in WSN. This paper has come up with a new robust key pre-distribution scheme using random polynomial functions and matrix. This new proposed scheme significantly increases the storage efficiency and provides resilience to network against node capture by using random prime numbers, polynomial functions and matrix properties. The effectiveness of the scheme is demonstrated through a security analysis and comparison with the existing schemes.

Abstract

In this paper, Simulation of the 6 Elements Aperture Coupled Feed Planar Array Rectangular Microstrip Patch Antenna is designed for CPE WiMAX Application. This Antenna uses Aperture Coupled feed to improve bandwidth. The Proposed antenna is compared to similar design of antenna with Microstrip Line feed, to justify that the proposed antenna produces broader bandwidth. Both of Antennas are designed and simulated by using HFSS simulation software and operated in WiMAX frequency range of 3.3 GHz. The 6 Elements Aperture Coupled Feed antenna gives an impedance bandwidth of 10.53 %, this is broader than the 6 Elements Microstrip Line Feed Antenna which is only has impedance bandwidth of 6.23 %. The maximum gain is obtained 8.4327 dBi at 3.4 GHz. Details of antenna design are given and simulation results are discussed.

Abstract

The emergence of value added services relying on a higher interactivity has altered the requirements of current transport network. Diverse traffic classes are processed by a large-scale optical network, imposing a more efficient utilization of their network infrastructure resources. Such services generally cross multiple domains, but inter-domain path computation algorithms still have some limitations. This paper describes a priority based path computation algorithm to meet all QoS requirements with the available capacity. The proposed algorithm increases the rate of successful replies while minimizing the blockage in network. The dynamic traffic is classified into high and low priority, so it improves emergency response in network.

Abstract

The development of telecommunication technology specified the Internet Protocol (IP) based technology for the next generation network. Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) has been introduced to overcome future telephony demand. However, these rapid changes encountered some issues, and the most critical is how to provide the services availability and reliability equally to circuit based telephony. Virtualization is widely used not only for hardware efficiency and maintenance, but also for High Availability support. Virtualized environment provides the ability among servers to migrate or replicate into another machine, even when they are running their services, which is known as Live Migration. In this paper, the voice quality of VoIP service when running on the High Availability system in virtualized environment is studied and examined. The objective analysis by using quality of services (QoS) attributes is conducted as well as the subjective analysis using Mean Opinion Score (MOS). The work utilizes Xen® Hypervisor with modified Remus extensions to provide the High Availability environment. Remus approach using checkpoint based is deployed to copy the primary server to the backup server. A range of 40ms – 900ms has been applied as time interval of checkpoint. The results show that the mean jitter is 9,98 ms, packet loss 3,12% and MOS 3.61 for Remus 400ms checkpoint. MOS with different checkpoint time interval is also presented.

Abstract

Wireless sensors are compact-size, low power, inexpensive devices which are capable to measure local environmental conditions or other parameters such as temperature, acceleration, and forward such information to a sink for proper processing. Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have been under development by both academic and industrial societies for a while. By moving toward applications such as the area of medical care and disaster response mobility in wireless sensor networks has attracted a lot of attentions. In energy constraint sensor network, mobility handling introduces unique challenges in aspects like resource management, coverage, routing protocols, security, etc. This paper, proposes an energy-efficient mobility-aware MAC protocol to handle node handover among different clusters. The simulation-based experiments show that the proposed protocol has better performance compared to the existing S-MAC method.

Abstract

Long Term Evolution (LTE) was introduced by the Third-Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) and is considered as the latest step towards the fourth generation of radio technology. This paper investigates the performance of well-known packet scheduling algorithms such as Proportion Fair (PF), Maximum- Largest Weighted Delay First (M-LWDF), Exponential Proportion Fair (EXP/PF), Frame Level Scheduler (FLS), Exponential rule (EXP rule), and Logarithmic rule (LOG Rule) in terms of delay, throughput, and packet loss ratio (PLR) by using the LTE-Sim open source simulator. Different traffic types are used, and Simulation results show that in video traffic, FLS and EXP algorithms provide a higher system throughput compared to other algorithms while keeping the delay and packet loss ratio small. However, in the case of best-effort traffic, results show a high delay and PLR with low throughput. The main contribution of this paper is to determine the appropriate downlink scheduling algorithm for VOIP, video, and best-effort traffics in 3GPP LTE.

Abstract

Climate change tends to be extreme that have a negative impact on the productivity of agriculture business. An automated system is one attempt to solve the problem. This paper presents the development of ON-OFF controller on automated irrigation system based on evapotranspiration analysis. The input data included: temperature, heat radiation, wind speed and air pressure were used to calculate evapotranspiration using revised Penman Mointeith equation. Furthermore the output of such equation was used for input data of ON-OFF controller end then it was compared with a reference of soil moisture data. The use of ON-OFF controler, a reference of soil moisture is approximated by triangular signal, in which the deviation error can be decreased by reducing discretization sampling time. Sampling time of 0.5 second and 0.005 second yielded the deviation error of 30.5% and 11,1%, respectively.
