Abstract

This research was aimed to find out the influence of bioremediation with simulation on some compositions to increase the quality of treated domestic wastewater, to describe the role of aquatic plant compositions, and to measure the effectiveness of each aquatic plant in reducing levels of pollutants. Laboratory tests were performed to recognize the waste quality, including physical, chemical and microbiological qualities, after bioremediation processes. Bioremediation process obviously had significant effects on the increase of treated domestic wastewater quality. Aquatic plant compositions and dilution factors were obviously interacting in increasing the quality of treated domestic wastewater. The composition of aquatic plants provided distinctive effects. Each kind of aquatic plant provided a specific effect on the increase of the domestic wastewater quality in various percentages.

Abstract

Efforts made to achieve clean and healty environment should not merely put on the responsility of executive institutions only, but also all stakeholders who have concerned on environment including house of representatives. The Environmental Caucus of the house representative are expected to improve survailance, budgetting, as well as release of pro-environment regulations which are predominantly related to environmental management. On carrying out sustainable development, providing main attention on environment on any decisions and regulations made is a must. Therefore the existence of Environmental Caucus of the house representative is important because the institution can push any parties to make decission which are pro to the environment on the parliament levels. If we look at the challenge and chance faced by the Environmental Caucus of the house representative, strong commitment needed by their members to fight for pro-environment supporters and take environmental problems as priority on their political agenda.

Abstract

Research on isolation and identification of lipid degrading bacteria in some sewage disposing sites and Denpasar Estuary Dam was carried out in April, 2006. This research aims to identify fat degrading bacteria on those areas.Isolation of bacteria was undertaken using thinning methods (platting methods) grown at sierra media. Colonies observed on the media after incubation on the temperature of 30-370C for 24 hours were identified based on macroscopic observations, biochemical tests, microscopic and cross tests to ensure that the bacteria identified was absolutely lipid degrading bacteria. The research result showed that number of lipid degrading bacteria isolates obtained from three sampling sites were 7 isolates. Four isolates were obtained from samples taken on BTDC Lagoons, the samples of which contains Bacillus sp. (A). Bacillus sp. (B), Klebsiella sp. and Staphylococcus sp., 2 isolates were gotten from samples found in estuary DAM with bacteria of Bacillus sp. (A) and Klebsiella sp. and 1 isolate was gotten from slaughterhouse waste disposal with Klebsiella sp. bacteria. Cross test results carried out on the seven isolates showed that two genera of bacteria only, namely: Bacillus sp. and Pseudomonas sp., which were viable after inoculation and 24 hours of incubation time.

Abstract

This research was carried out at Nusa Dua Lagoon, Nusa Dua – Bali in the year of 2006. The research was aimed to find out the concentration of heterotrophic bacteria, algae and protozoa, as well as to observe the change of the population in the lagoon. Results of this study showed that the highest concentration of the population of heterotrophic bacteria was on pond 4b (aerated pond 2), algae population was highest at pond 5a (sedimentation pond 1), and the population of protozoa was highest on pond 5b (sedimentation pond 2). The population of heterotrophic bacteria was replaced by algae and then algae was taken over by protozoa.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to clarify relationships between socio-economic activities and forest ecology degradations in Kampar Peninsula, Riau Province, Indonesia. Socio-economic and demographic data were collected from seven districts in three regencies, namely district of Kuala Kampar and Teluk Meranti in Pelalawan Regency, district of Sungai Apit and Dayun in Siak Regency, and district of Merbau, Rangsang and Tebing Tinggi in Bengkalis Regency. All data were collected using Simple Random Sampling and Loting Methods. Results of this study revealed that there were close relationships between socio-economic activities and forest ecology degradations in Kampar Peninsula. The population growth and improvement of socio-economic activities caused land use in Kampar Peninsula forest getting higher. Kampar Peninsula forests were deforested about 260,348 ha (34%) in the period of 1998-2005. The highest deforestation (20%) occurred in the period of 2000-2005. Land use on this forest had increased since 1990 (25,256 ha) and had became increasing in 2005 (162,413 ha).

Abstract

Two variables that influenced environmental sanitation were knowledge sanitation and income of vegetable traders. The research revealed how far the correlation between the knowledge of environmental sanitation and income of vegetable traders’ vendors the way of managing the environment sanitation. The research utilized descriptive methods and correlation methods with samples of vegetable vendors in Pancasila Market, Tawang Sub-district, Tasikmalaya City. Results of this research showed that there were a positive correlation between the knowledge of environmental sanitation and income of vegetable vendors in the way of managing the environment.

Abstract

There were 65 species of trees have been identified in Baturning village, District of Abiansemal, Regency of Badung, Bali, which were spread out around the river bank, cemetery (around Dalem temple), around the settlement, non-irrigated farm (plantation or “tegalan”) and rice field. Thirty eight (38) % out of them were observed to be available around the settlement. Most of trees in Baturning (61 species or 94%) have been used by the local community. The rest were uncultivated. From the use, trees in Baturning most were used for human consumption (24%). On the village has not been found protected species, even though in the village were found 22 species of trees which considered to be rare in Bali, namely: Bayur, Bentenung, Beringin, Cempaka, Ee, Jaka, Jeruk Bali, Juwet, Kelor, Kendal, Klampuak, Lempeni, Lenggung, Mahoni, Mengkudu, Palem Raja, Poh-Pohan, Pule, Sandat, Sentul, Udu, and Wani.

Abstract

This research was carried out from June to September 2006. The location of this research was in Cindai Alus District Of Martapura, Sub-Province of Banjar, South Kalimantan.Research location cover 4 perception pools, consist of 3 pools with EM4 treatments and a pool as control, with perception time of 0 day, 7 days and 14 days. Result of perception obtained result of perception on ke-0 before EM4 treatment and of OTC gyration of DO at pool of I and of II equal to 4,3 mg / ltr - 8,1 mg / ltr, pool of II gyrate 5,9 mg / ltr - 7,9 mg / pool and ltr of III rate of DO 3,9 mg / ltr - 8,3 mg / ltr, pool control equal to 8,12 mg / morning ltr and 8,15 in the evening. Happened the make-up of DO on ke-7 [at] pool of I and of II equal to 7,9 mg / ltr ( pool I) 7,1 mg / ltr ( Pool of II), and also 7,9 mg / ltr ( Pool of III).By Using Random Device of Factorial Group obtained by result of Parameter of NH3, DO, pH, BOD and what overflows of Zooplankton, do not have an effect on reality. but having an effect on reality to what overflows of phytoplankton Result of calculation of doubled linear regression of method of Enter obtained by t-value parameter of BOD, NH3, pH, temperature, what overflows of phytoplankton and of zooplankton among independent variable nothing that signifikan to variable of DO. While with method of Stepwise, obtained by Zooplankton signifikan paramater to variable of Y (DO). Thereby dissolve oxygen rate (DO) inversely proportional with rate of BOD, NH3, pH, and temperature.
