Abstract

The purpose of this research are: (1) describe and analyze the description of acceptance of parents of blind children at Special School Singkawang, (2) identify the factors acceptance of parents of blind children at Special School Singkawang. This study used qualitative methods, techniques interview data collectors tested its validity through triangulation. Subjects in this study are the parents of students with visual impairment in Special School Singkawang many as four people and classroom teachers as informants two people. Data analysis techniques in the form of data reduction, data display and conclusion. The results showed that: (1) The parents of blind children can receive willingly conditions experienced by his son, even that happens on stage tertiary phase which should at that stage parents could not accept her son. However, with sincerity and greatsincerity and love to their children so that the parents that their children canreceive in a faster time. (2) There are several factors acceptance of parents of blind children is the support of family, lingungan very accepting and relatives who frequently give feedback, even one of the parents said that children with special needs is preferable compared with a normal.

Abstract

Focus of this study are (1) describe and analyze the implementation of the guidance and counseling program, (2) find some factors inhibiting the implementation of the guidance and counseling program. This study uses qualitative methods; using interview data collecting technique, tested its validity through triangulation. Subjects in this study are all teachers of guidance and counseling in the Senior High School of Singkawang as many as 10 people as well as principals and supervisors as the informants with the total of 11 people. Results (1) the implementation of evaluation of guidance and counseling program by the teachers still has many weaknesses on each phase of the evaluation, such as not understanding the evaluation models of the guidance and counseling program, how to apply them, and monitoring process that is not done in deeply and in detail, (2) Some factors inhibiting the implementation of the evaluation of guidance and counseling program are lack of knowledge and understanding of the evaluation of guidance and counseling program in the schools, lack of interest in developing professional competencies, and lack of guidance to the teachers in implementing the guidance and counseling evaluation program.

Abstract

Tujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah: 1) mendeskripsikan dasar keyakinan masyarakat Tionghoa terhadap Tatung pada perayaan Cap Go Meh di Kota Singkawang, 2) Mendeskripsikan faktor-faktor yang mendasari keyakinan masyarakat Tionghoa terhadap Tatung pada perayaan Cap Go Meh di Kota Singkawang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpul data wawancara mendalam. Subjek pada penelitian ini yaitu tiga orang Tatung dan tujuh orang masyarakat Tionghoa. Teknik analisis data berupa reduksi data, sajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Sedangkan uji keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi sumber. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1) Dasar keyakinan masyarakat Tionghoa yaitu adanya ramalan yang akan terjadi, penyembuhan, petunjuk mencari nafkah, pemberian nama toko, mengusir roh jahat, hanya Tatung yang bisa memberi mantra bagi orang Tionghoa yang meninggal, 2) faktor-faktor yang mendasari masyarakat Tionghoa meyakini Tatung yaitu pengalaman terdahulu, keyakinan terhadap Dewa, budaya turun temurun.

The objectives of this research are: (1) to describe and analyze the implementation of guidance and counseling supervision at the State Senior High Schools of Singkawang City, and (2) to find main factors inhibiting the implementation of guidance and counseling supervisory at the State Senior High Schools of Singkawang City. The results show that: (1) the implementation of the guidance and counseling supervision has still many weaknesses on each stage done by the supervisors, such as unidentified guidance and counseling teachers‘ needs, the program planning is not yet organized well, the supervisors do not use particular approaches, and they do not control the supervisions carried out, (2) some factors inhibiting the implementation of guidance and counseling supervision include lack of guidance and counseling supervision forces that so many guidance and counseling teachers are not supervised optimally, lack of knowledge and understanding by the supervisors on the implementation of the guidance and counseling supervision, and also minimal development of supervisory competencies in the guidance and counseling field.

Abstract

The purposes of this research are 1) to analyze the differences of the effect of gender, years of study, and major on the academic self-efficacy, and 2) to predict academic self-efficacy in determining academic achievement. This is a quantitative research using a survey approach. The location of this study is STKIP Singkawang (School of Teacher Training and Educational Science). The sample used is 223 students, which consisted of 112 males and 111 females. The data collection technique used is a questionnaire using a Likert scale. The data were analyzed using SPSS with descriptive statistical techniques, correlation, regression, and univariate GLM analysis. The results confirm that; 1) different majors have a significant influence on academic self-efficacy compared to the gender and years of study. The students of social sciences major have higher academic self-efficacy than those in the exact sciences major.; 2) self-efficacy has a positive relationship and is also a predictor in determining academic achievement. This shows that any improvement in academic self-efficacy will be accompanied by an improvement in the academic achievement.

Abstract

Stress on students is more common and varied. Therefore, a good coping strategy is needed in order to control stress and increase academic achievement. The purposes of this study are: 1) to describe the level of academic stress and coping strategy; 2) to investigate the effect of the differences of gender, age, marital status, years of study and degrees on academic stress and coping; and 3) to analyze the relationship between academic stress, coping and academic achievement. This research used a quantitative method with a survey approach. The population was 340 Indonesian students in Wuhan, China. The samples of 184 students (73 male and 111 female) were taken with a simple random sampling technique. The instruments used in collecting data are the Scale for Assessment Academic Stress and the Stress Coping Style Inventory. The results showed that academic stress was at a moderate level dominated by cognitive stress indicators. Coping was at a moderate level dominated by active emotional coping. Different demographic factors have a significant effect on academic stress and coping. Intercorrelation shows the relationship between several indicators of academic stress and coping but no significant relationship with academic achievement.

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to describe the level of college students’ academic procrastination, analyze differences in academic procrastination among the college students, and analyze the relationship between academic procrastination and academic achievement. This research uses a quantitative method with a survey and correlational design. The research population is 620 Sekolah Tinggi Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Singkawang (STKIP) Singkawang college students. The sample is taken using a simple random sampling technique as many as 352 college students (76 male and 276 female). The instrument used in data collection is the academic procrastination scale and great point academic. The data are analyzed using descriptive analysis, ANOVA, and correlation. The findings show that college students’ academic procrastination is at a moderate level which is dominated by time management skill indicators. Male students and students who are in the middle years have higher levels of academic procrastination. Intercorrelation shows a significant but negative relationship between academic procrastination and academic achievement.Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan tingkat prokrastinasi akademik mahasiswa, menganalisis perbedaan prokrastinasi akademik mahasiswa, dan menganalisis hubungan antara prokrastinasi akademik dengan prestasi akademik mahasiswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain survei dan korelasi. Populasi penelitian adalah 620 mahasiswa STKIP Singkawang. Sampel diambil dengan teknik simple random sampling sebanyak 352 mahasiswa (76 laki-laki dan 276 perempuan). Instrumen yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data adalah skala prokrastinasi akademik dan indeks prestasi akademik. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis deskriptif, ANOVA, dan korelasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa prokrastinasi akademik mahasiswa berada pada tingkat sedang yang didominasi oleh indikator keterampilan mengatur waktu. Mahasiswa laki-laki dan mahasiswa yang berada di tahun pertengahan memiliki tingkat prokrastinasi akademik yang lebih tinggi. Interkorelasi menunjukkan adanya hubungan negatif yang signifikan antara prokrastinasi akademik dengan prestasi akademik.
