Abstract

Hypertension intradialytic can affect the quality of life and quality of life can affect hypertension too. An area of concern to nurses is related to non-pharmacological treatment to prevent the occurrence of intradialitic hypertension and improved quality of life. One of them is with stretching exercise and yoga breathing. This research used quasi experimental pre post control group design design, sample size was 28 ESRD clients intradialysis in Dr. Rumkital. Ramelan Surabaya. Sampling technique used purposive sampling. Variables in this study were stretching exercise, yoga breathing, stretching exercise modification and yoga breathing, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, and quality of life. Data collection using mercury sygmomanometer, and KDQOL SF 1.3 questionnaire. Data were analyzed using paired t test and multiple linear regression. The results of this study showed that the most effective intervention for lowering blood pressure 27,143 mmHg is a combination of stretching exercise and respiratory yoga, whereas the most effective yoga breathing improves the quality of life 5,143. ESRD clients intradialysis are expected to remain active in applying stretching exercises and breathing yoga during hemodialysis, and for nurses is expected to increase client motivation as well as arrange a daily program and actively involved in applying stretching exercise and yoga breathing. Abstract

Older adults and people who have a history of chronic disease (comorbid) are more at risk of contracting COVID-19, one of which is diabetes mellitus (DM). The role of cadres is needed to increase the DM patients’ resilience during the pandemic. Optimizing this resilience can be realized in achieving cadres’ performance where motivation is one factor. This activity is performed by increasing information to comorbid diabetes mellitus patients during the pandemic using coaching level, implementation level, and evaluation level. The motivation and performance were measured using questionnaires with observational analysis method. This activity was carried out on December 20, 2020, and was attended by 23 cadres under the guidance of the Candi Sidoarjo Health Center. From the observations and analysis results, it was found that 100% of cadres have high motivation, and 100% of cadres have good performance towards efforts to optimize the resilience of patients with diabetes mellitus comorbid in the Covid 19 pandemic era. Performance is a function of motivation, competence, and work system. The cadres’ self-motivation makes the urge to behave (performance) that provides benefits to others; this will give the cadres some satisfaction (self-actualization) and help to achieve government programs through posyandu activities. The cadres’ involvement is essential in optimizing the resilience of patients with diabetes mellitus comorbid in the Covid 19 pandemic. The motivation and performance of cadres need to be maintained and even increased to create a physically and mentally healthy society.

Abstract

Poor vascularization in individuals with diabetes will worsen blood circulation due to high glucose in the blood. One of the risk factors leading to diabetic foot ulcers (DFU) is peripheral vascular disease. This study aims to identify the peripheral vascular status in individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) at Kebonsari Public Health Centre, Surabaya. The research design in this study used a quantitative descriptive approach. There were 40 respondents with an accidental sampling. The data collection was carried out for four weeks, from May to June 2020. The research instrument was an observation sheet to record the Dorsalis Pedis artery pulse and ankle-brachial index (ABI). In addition, a digital sphygmomanometer was used to measure the Dorsalis Pedis artery pulse. Most respondents had the normal Dorsalis Pedis artery pulse in the right legs (80%), 20% had bradycardia, and none had tachycardia (0%). In addition, they had the normal Dorsalis Pedis artery pulse in the left legs (70%), 20% had bradycardia, and none had tachycardia (0%). Furthermore, they had the normal ABI values in the right legs (55%), 45% had borderline ABI values, and none had ischemic and critical ischemic (0%). In addition, they had the normal ABI values in the right legs (52%), 47% had borderline ABI values, and none had ischemic and critical ischemic (0%). Most individuals with T2DM at the Kebonsari Public Health Center, Surabaya, had normal peripheral vascular status. However, few respondents had bradycardia in the Dorsalis Pedis artery pulses, and almost half had borderline ABI values.

Abstract

Introduction: Clinical learning is a very important component for nursing students to integrate theoritical with skills in real settings. However, the reality revealed that the achievement of student competency is still not fulfilled yet; this is due to the unstructured interaction between students and mentors. The purpose of this study was analyzed the competence of the clinical learning module on the competency achievement of nursing student. Methods: This research is a quasi-experiment with the pretest-posttesttwogroup research design. Research samples of students in two nursing school in Surabaya who met the criteria of 50 respondents as a treatment group and 50 respondents as a control group. The research instrument used questionnaires and clinical learning modules as well as competency achievement books. Data analysis used Wilcoxon sign ranks test and Mann Whitney test with α ≤ 0,05.Results: The results of statistical tests in the control group obtained P value 0.14 showed there were differences in achievement of competencies before and after, in the treatment group obtained P value 0.000 which means that there were differences in achievement of competencies before and after using the learning module, and the results of Mann Whitney Test obtained P 0.000 , means there is an influence of the clinical learning module on the achievement of the competence of nursing students. Conclusions: Nursing clinic learning requires interaction between students and mentors so that with this clinical learning module can effectively improve the achievement of the competence of nursing students.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the effectiveness of using the Self Insulin Injection Simulation Tool (SIIST) to improve insulin injection skills in Diabetes Mellitus patients. The method used is a pretest-posttest control group design. The results showed that the increase in the average skill score in the SIIST intervention group was higher than in the control group, and there was a significant difference (p-value 0.001). In conclusion, education using SIIST is effective in improving the injection skills of Diabetes Mellitus patients. Instruction using the media simulation tool makes it easier for Diabetes patients to practice self-injection correctly and correctly. Keywords: Diabetes, Injection, Insulin, Skills, Simulation Tool

Abstract

Introduction : Knowledge in dealing with disasters is one part of disaster mitigation in the application of disaster preparedness in the campus environment. The death toll from an earthquake will increase along with the knowledge of the community and the level of preparedness they have. This study aims to see the significance of the relationship between knowledge and student preparedness in dealing with earthquake disasters in the campus environment. Method : Research design with descriptive correlational cross sectional approach. Sampling using non-probability sampling technique random sampling The research sample was 237 students at STIKES Hang Tuah Surabaya & STIKES NHM with questionnaires in the period of June- July 2022. Test data analysis using ChiSquare. Results The results showed that the majority of STIKES Hang Tuah Surabaya students had good knowledge of 205 (86.9%) and moderate preparedness of 226 (95.4%). Statistical test results show the value of ρ=0.011 (ρ<α=0.05) which means that knowledge has a close relationship with preparedness in the face of earthquakes. Conclusion The implications of this research can be concluded that increasing knowledge is an important part of mitigation in increasing preparedness in the campus environment in dealing with disaster threats, especially earthquakes in particular.
