<![CDATA[Tahun akademik 2019/2020, sebagian besar mahasiswi yang kuliah di STIKS Tarakanitaberada di usia sekitar 19-21 tahun. Pada usia tersebut, mereka telah diperkenalkan pada gawai dankemajuan tenologi yang begitu luar biasa. mereka biasa disebut Generasi-Z. Hal ini mempengaruhisistem pendidikan yang dirancang sedemikian rupa sehingga Generasi-Z merasa nyaman belajar.Sistem flipped classroom dikembangkan untuk mengakomodasi para siswa yang terikat denganinternet dan gawai. Dengan mengaplikasikan flippedclassroom, para siswa diharapkan menggunakangawai dan fasilitas internet untuk mengunduh materi sehingga pelajaran di kelas berfokus pada diskusi.Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana flipped classroomdiaplikasikan di STARKIdengan melihat kurikulum, tujuan sekolah vokasi, dan teori flipped classroom. Selain itu, tulisan inijuga bertujuan untuk melihat kemungkinan STARKI mengaplikasikan flippedclassroomuntuk matakuliah lain dan apa saja tantantangan serta kendala dalam pengaplikasian flipped classroom di STARKI.]]>

<![CDATA[The act of persuasion happens anywhere and anytime. When we need a help, we persuade other to do what we need. In order to have a successful persuasion, we apply certain strategy. This pragmatic paper wants to analyse the effective strategies in order to have an effective persuasive acts. Pragmatics is chosen as the method since the analysis is about the language used in certain context, in this case persuasion. This paper elaborates how certain speech acts can help the speaker to perform persuasion successfully. Besides, the researcher also analyses how the attempts of persuading violate certain maxims stated by Grice. The researcher took a movie entitled The Proposal (2009) as the data since it shows how the main characters apply certain speech acts and strategies in order to achieve effective persuasion. In this movie, Margaret and Andrew are trying to persuade each other in order to get different advantages through faking marriage. The researcher takes the dialogue of those two characters as the data. Then, the data was analysed using speech act theory, implicature, and language function theory on persuasion. The result of the study is the successful persuasion relies on using appropriate speech act, flouting the maxim of quantity, and applying good persuasive strategy. <![CDATA[In our lives, there are many instances where we encounter jokes. The media; printed, online, or broadcasted, presents jokes in many ways. Some television programs have their own form of humour such as through talk shows or other kinds of performances. In printed media, we can read humour through comic. Online media also provides certain sites to deliver jokes. We are familiar with 9gag or other sites which post funny pictures or memes. This paper is going to analyse how the jokes in online media is presented using a pragmatic point of view. The researchers took the data from the website and chose the joke about school life and analysed the 30 school jokes using the reference and maxim theory. The result of this study shows that in order to create a school joke, the joke maker violates the reference and maxim.  Keywords: school joke, reference, maxim]]>

<![CDATA[One of the hardest parts in communication is delivering the meaning as it is uttered. Considering the fact that in communication we are supposed to be able to deliver the message well to make the other party get the message, we need to pay attention to other’s image. The case that this study is going to analyse is the use of maaf sekadar mengingatkan to comment on someone’s appearance and/ or behaviour. One of Bahasa Indonesia experts gave an explanation that actually the meaning of sekadar mengingatkan is neutral. This study wants to analyse how giving suggestion and the use of maaf sekadar mengingatkancan harm someone’s face. The data was analysed using pragmatics study of FTA (Face Threatening Act). This study found that the factor that makes the meaning maaf sekadar mengingatkan be offensive is the expressions used together with this expression. Salah satu tantangan terbesar dalam berkomunikasi adalah menyampaikan maksud dari perkataan kita dengan baik; apakah pendengar dapat memahami dan menangkap maksud dari perkataan kita sama seperti apa yang kita inginkan. Sebuah kejadian yang viral akhir-akhir ini tentang penggunaan ekspresi maaf sekadar mengingatkan menunjukkan bahwa untuk mencapai tujuan berkomunikasi dengan baik perlu memperhatikan beberapa hal penting. Dalam kasus ini, penggunaan kata maaf tidak lantas membuat pendengar merasa lebih baik setelah mendengar kritik atau saran yang disampaikan. Tulisan ini ingin memberikan analisis ilmiah tentang bagaimana makna maaf sekadar mengingatkan terbentuk dalam penggunaan untuk menegur dan mengkritik. Lebih lanjut, tulisan ini ingin menanggapi penjelasan Ivan Lanin yang mengungkapkan bahwa makna sekadar megingatkan bersifat netral. Untuk menjawab permasalahan tersebut, penelitian ini menerapkan teori pragmatik tentang Face Threatening Act (FTA). Dari hasil penelitian, dapat diketahui dan disimpulkan bahwa makna negatif yang terkandung dalam ekpresi maaf sekadar mengingatkan terbentuk dari ucapan yang menyertai ekspresi tersebut.]]>

<![CDATA[Abstract The rapid growth of digital technology has given the convenience for many people as well as in office life. The use of technology brings many benefits in term of finishing secretarial tasks. This study aims to provide reference for secretary in finishing tasks efficiently. The method implemented in this study is descriptive qualitative. This study provides the short description on how the digital technology is used in office real life. There are three components in digital technology that are essential in office life namely software, hardware, and human as the controller. <![CDATA[ABSTRACT Globalization that is developing at the speed of light forces secretaries to improve their quality in terms of both hard and soft skills. English skills are an undeniable need in various fields of business. This study aims to see the role of English skills in the efficiency of completing secretarial assignments at the Indonesian Coal Mining Association (APBI-ICMA). The research method used is field observation and this research is descriptive qualitative research because the influencing variables are unable to be tightly controlled. The researcher became practitioners when carrying out Industrial Work Practices (Prakerin) at APBI-ICMA. The results of the study show that English writing skills are the skills that play the most role in completing the duties of a researcher's secretary at APBI-ICMA. ABSTRAK Globalisasi yang berkembang dengan kecepatan cahaya memaksa sekretaris untuk meningkatkan kualitas baik dibidang hard dan soft skills. Keterampilan Bahasa Inggris menjadi kebutuhan yang tidak terbantahkan lagi diberbagai bidang usaha. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat peranan keterampilan Bahasa Inggris terhadap efisiensi penyelesaian tugas sekretaris di Asosisasi Pertambangan Batubara Indonesia (APBI-ICMA). Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah observasi lapangan dan penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif karena variabel-variabel yang berpengaruh tidak dapat dikontrol dengan ketat. Peneliti menjadi Praktikan ketika melaksanakan Praktik Kerja Industri (Prakerin) di APBI-ICMA. Hasil penelitian menujuukan bahwa Keterampilan Bahasa Inggris menulis (writing) adalah keterampilan yang paling berperan dalam penyelesaian tugas sekretaris Peneliti di APBI-ICMA.]]>

<![CDATA[Email communication has become an everyday occurrence in the modern digital era since it is believed to be an easy and fast way to reach a larger audience, even in various regions of the world. The purpose of this study is to analyze how students at Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Komunikasi dan Sekretari Tarakanita (STARKI) behave when emailing their lecturer. Their emails were examined in accordance with the principle of effective email composition. This study also aims to reinforce the notion that good netiquette is a necessary ability in the current digital environment to raise the professionalism of secretaries in the workplace. In this investigation, document analysis was used. The information was gathered from the lecturer's email. In this article, the research results from the students' emails are presented. The subject line, email body, and language usage were all examined. Still currently, a lot of business emails are sent without adhering to the proper format and professionalism. The netiquette needs to be included in STARKI's curriculum since it is a secretarial school. It is crucial to include this content in the Business Writing course so that students may demonstrate professionalism by sending emails within business hours, using acceptable and official language, and organizing their information in the proper way. Abstrak Komunikasi melalui email sudah menjadi hal yang lumrah di era digital modern karena diyakini sebagai cara yang mudah dan cepat untuk menjangkau khalayak yang lebih luas, bahkan di berbagai wilayah di dunia. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis bagaimana mahasiswa Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Komunikasi dan Sekretari Tarakanita (STARKI) ketika mengirim surat elektronik (surel) ke dosennya. Surel mereka diperiksa sesuai dengan prinsip komposisi email yang efektif. Penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk memperkuat anggapan bahwa netiket yang baik adalah kemampuan yang diperlukan dalam lingkungan digital saat ini untuk meningkatkan profesionalisme sekretaris di tempat kerja. Dalam penyelidikan ini, analisis dokumen digunakan. Informasi tersebut diperoleh dari email dosen. Dalam artikel ini disajikan hasil penelitian dari email siswa. Baris subjek, isi surel, dan penggunaan bahasa semuanya diperiksa. Namun, saat ini banyak sekali email bisnis yang dikirim tanpa mengikuti format dan profesionalisme yang tepat. Netiket tersebut perlu dimasukkan dalam kurikulum STARKI karena merupakan sekolah kesekretariatan. Sangat penting untuk memasukkan konten ini dalam kursus Penulisan Bisnis sehingga siswa dapat menunjukkan profesionalisme dengan mengirimkan email dalam jam kerja, menggunakan bahasa yang dapat diterima dan resmi, dan mengatur informasi mereka dengan cara yang benar.]]>

<![CDATA[Pemerataan pendidikan dan kemampuan pemuda di Indonesia merupakan sebuah keharusan. Dengan adanya rencana pemindahan ibu kota dari Jakarta ke Kabupaten Penajam, maka peningkatan skill pemuda di sana perlu untuk dilakukan. Hal ini bertujuan agar orang muda di daerah Penajam memiliki bekal untuk bersaing dengan orang dari berbagai daerah yang akan datang ke Penajam sebagai akibat perpindahan ibu kota. Pelatihan English Speaking skill diharapakan mampu menjadi bekal bagi mereka untuk memiliki skill berbahasa Inggris yang lebih baik karena kurangnya pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris yang memadai di sekolah mereka. Pelatihan diberikan secara online melalui kanal zoom. Materi pelatihan didesain sesuai dengan kemampuan siswa SMA yang merupakan peserta pelatihan ini. Sebelum menyusun modul, needs analysis dilakukan dengan cara melakukan pertemuan dengan para peserta dan menampung aspirasi mereka tentang pembelajaran dan materi yang mereka inginkan. Dari hasil kuesioner evaluasi, dapat terlihat bahwa para peserta merasakan manfaat dalam mengikuti pelatihan ini.
