Abstract

In general, degraded land means land degradation under his ability is characteristic of soil is experiencing degraded. The study aims to evaluate the impact of biochar and time of N fertilization on growth and yield of maize in the second cropping season. The research was conducted in the village of Jatikerto, Kromengan subdistrict, Malang. The research was carried in January-May 2016. The study was done in the field using a factorial randomized block design (RAK) Factor 1: rice hull biochar residue (B1), biochar young coconut waste (B2), biochar timber (B3). Factor 2 Award urea at 3,4,5 weeks after planting. There are 9 combinations of each treatment was repeated 3 times. The results showed that no interaction between biochar residue with a time of nitrogen fertilization on all observed variables. Biochar residue effect on leaf area, root dry weight, leaf dry weight, dry weight of cob, weight of 100 grains. Time nitrogen fertilization effect on plant height, leaf area, stem dry weight, leaf dry weight, total dry weight of the plant. Biochar residue type and time of nitrogen fertilization did not affect the results of corn. Secara umum tanah terdegradasi berarti penurunan kualitas tanah dibawah kemampuannya merupakan ciri tanah yang sedang mengalami terdegradasi. Penelitian bertujuan mengevaluasi dampak biochar dan waktu pemupukan N terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman jagung pada musim tanam kedua. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Desa Jatikerto, Kecamatan Kromengan, Kabupaten Malang. Pelaksanaan penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Januari ? Mei 2016. Penelitian dilakuan di lapangan dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok faktorial (RAK) Faktor 1: residu biochar sekam padi (B1), biochar limbah kelapa muda(B2), biochar kayu (B3). Faktor 2 pemberian pupuk urea pada minggu 3,4,5 setelah tanam. Ada 9 kombinasi perlakuan masing-masing diulang 3 kali. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa tidak terjadi interaksi antara residu biochar dengan waktu pemupukan nitrogen terhadap semua variabel yang diamati. Residu biochar berpengaruh pada luas daun, berat kering akar, berat kering daun, berat kering tongkol, berat 100 butir. Waktu pemupukan nitrogen berpengaruh pada tinggi tanaman, luas daun, berat kering batang, berat kering daun, berat kering total tanaman. Residu jenis Biochar dan waktu pemupukan Nitrogen tidak berpengaruh terhadap hasil jagung pipilan.
