Abstract

The objectives of this research was to know the physical properties of peat soil and growth of rubber plant on several ground cover condition by Mucuna bracteata at social plantation area of  PT. RAPP, Teluk Meranti Subdistrict, Pelalawan Regency, Riau Province. Soil analysis was carried out the laboratory of soil science Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau. This research was carried out from January to March 2016 and the determination of the area of sampling arranged using purposive sampling methods thats are sampling of rubber plant contained living mucuna, passed of mucuna, and without mucuna. Variables observed in this research include of the soil physical properties and observation of rubber plant. Observation of the soil physical properties were soil colour, soil temperature, soil moisture, bulk density, soil particle density, total pore space, soil permeability, and water holding capacity. Parameter observed of rubber plant is circular stem. The result showed that peat soil covered by living mucuna have soil physical properties (soil moisture, soil temperature, and water holding capacity) higher than passed of mucuna and without mucuna. At the rubber plant covered by living mucuna also showed circular stem higher than rubber plant on the passed of mucuna but on the passed of mucuna have circular stem higher than without mucuna. Keywords : Soil physical properties, peat soil, Mucuna bracteata, rubber plant

Abstract

1. Mahasiswa Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Riau2. Dosen Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Riau The purpose of this research is to identify nutrient deficiency by using remote sensing in palm oil plantation. The research was conducted in palm oil plantation, PT. SMART Tbk (Sinarmas Agro Resources and Technology Tbk), Kandista Garden, Kandis, Siak Regency, Riau. This research had been conducted for six months in March to August 2017. The total area used in this research was 1628,59 ha. This research used survey method consisting of several stages viz.    1) Establish sample location by looking at several aspects in the determination of land availability, soil fertility, and land characteristics. 2) Determinate point sample done homogeneously by looking at the health and normal condition of palm oilthat will affect the plot location. 3) Leaf analysis, soil analysis and remotesensing used image processing. The data obtained were analyzed using regression analysis, to determine the correlation of satellite color and actual data in the field. Parameters used were the analysis of nutritioncontent, analysis of nutritioncontent with remote sensing. The resultsshowed that nutrient content of N, P and K of palm oil leaves contain no nutrient deficiency. Nutrient N and P content in leaves have a better accuracy than model prediction results compared with K content. Based on the analysis,  composite bands: red, green, bluewere unstable and unconsistent in representing plant nutrient content, this may be influenced by imaging resolution obtained. Abstract

The use of several kinds of compost on the arabica coffee seedlingis an effort to provide organic fertilizer from agricultural waste.This fertilizer is espected to improvethe growth of coffee seedling, because it has function as the source of nutrient and it is able to improve the physical and biological properties of soil. The research was carried out on the experimental station, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau on December 2016 – March 2017, by using a completely randomized design with the treatment without compost, cocoa fruit skin compost, OPEFB compost, tofu compost, straw compost, legume compost with dosage100 g/polybag. The growth observed was seedling height, stem diameter, number and area of leaves, root volume, root-shoot ratio, and dry weight of seedling.The result showed that giving ofseveral kinds of composteffect on parameter of area of leaves, root-shoot ratio, dry weight of seedling.The best treatment was obtained of legume compost 100 g/polybaghigher on parameter of seedling height, stem diameter, number and area of leaves, root-shoot ratio and dry weight of seedling.Key word : Arabica coffee seedling (Coffea arabica L.), Compost

Abstract

This research was aimed to determine the effect of guano application and get best doses for the growth and production. This research was carried out at Agriculture experimental station of Agriculture Faculty Riau University. This research was completed from april to may 2019. This research used a Completely Randomized Desaign ( CRD ). The treatments were aplication of guano at a plot of one m2, there were 0,6 kg.m-2, 0,9 kg.-2, 1,2 kg.m-2, 1,5 kg.m-2 dan 1,8 kg.m-2. The results showed that application of guano can increase plant height, leaves number, leaves large, plant weight per m2 and plant weight of eduble consumption per m2. Application of guano at 1,8 kg.m-2 showed best dose on each parameters.  Keywords : Pakchoy , Guano Fertilizer

Abstract

The purpose of this research effect in interaction sawdust ash and NPK Mg compound fertilizer on the growth of oil palm seedlings and to get the best combination for the growth of oil palm seedlings phase main nursery. This research was conducted in the experimental field and Laboratory of Production Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau in Campus Binawidya Km 12.5 Simpang BaruPekanbaru. Have been implemented from Desember 2015 to Maret 2016.The research used Completely Randomized Design factorial that consisting of two factors. The first factor is sawdust ash(A) consists of four levels. The second factor is the NPK Mg fertilizer (N), which consists of 3 levels. Parametersmeasured were : seedling height increment,increase of leaves number, increase of hump diameter, root volume,seedling weight dry, ratio crown and root.Data obtained from the research results were statistically analyzed by analysis of variance followed by a further test of Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5%. The results showed giving sawdust ash and NPK Mg compound fertilizer no interaction in all parameters the observation of oil palm seedling except ratio crown and root.Keywords : sawdust ash. Abstract

The use of Guano fertilizer in the cultivation of mustard plant in the soil of Inceptisol is the part of effort organic fertilizer giving that come from bat feces. This fertilizer is espected to improve the mustard growth, because it has function as the source of nutrient and it is able to improve the physical and biological properties of soil. The research was carried out on the experimental station, Fakulty of Agriculture, University of Riau on March-April 2018, by using a completely randomized design with the treatment of Guano fertilizer dosage (0, 300, 600, 900, 1.200) g.m-2. The growth observed was plant height, number and area of heaves, total plant weight and weight of plant suitable for consumption. The result showed that giving of Guano fertilizer effect on parameter of plant height, number and area of leaves, total weight and weight of plant suitable for comsumption. The best treatment was obtained a dose of 1.200 g.m-2 and it was able to increase the yield by 48,92 % compared to without being given Guano.Key word :Mustard plant, Guano fertilizer, Yields

Abstract

The aimresearchof determine the influence of M. bracteata and the slope of land to the diversity of soil macrofauna and root growth of oil palmsimmature. This research was conducted in PTPN V Unit LubukDalam, Siak and analysis of soil macrofauna in the Soil Laboratory Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau. This research has been carried out from January to April 2016. The study was conducted using Split Plot Design. The level of the slope (K) as the main plot consists of: K0 = 0-3%,K1 =>3-8%, K2 = >8-15%. Employing Mucunabracteata (M) as the subplot consisting of: M0 = land clearning, M1 = land that is overgrown. The parameters measured were the number of population density, relative density, diversity index (H’) soil macrofauna, root dry weight, root volume and root occupy. The research showed: (1) land overgrown palm M. bracteata has a population density number, relative density and the diversity of the soil macrofauna higher and better root growth compared with that land clearning; and (2) The higher the slope (%) resulting in a population density, relative density and the diversity of soil macrofauna are getting lower and root growth decreases. Keywords: Mucuna bracteata, land slope and macrofauna

Abstract

Cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.) is one of the plantation commodities that had important role in economic activity in Indonesia as a raw material commonly used for the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, food and beverage industries. Efforts to increase cocoa production on Ultisol soil can required by applying Mucuna bracteata compost and NPK fertilizer. This research is an experimental research that is arranged according to factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) by giving a combination of Mucuna bracteata compost treatment (4 levels) and NPK fertilizer (3 levels) with three replication. The fertilizer of Mucuna bracteata compost was carried out one week before planting the sprouts according to the treatment dose. NPK fertilizer was applied one week and three weeks after planting the sprouts according to the treatment dose. The variables observed were seed height, stem diameter, number of leaves every four weeks starting from 4 WAP to 16 WAP while root volume, root shoot ratio and seed dry weight were carried out at the end of the study. Observations were made on all plants. The results showed that the fertilizer of Mucuna bracteata compost had an effect on the observed variables, namely seed height, number of leaves, stem diameter, root volume, root crown ratio and seed dry weight in Ultisol soil. The fertilizer of NPK fertilizer had no effect on seed height, stem diameter, root volume, root crown ratio and dry weight of cocoa seedlings in Ultisol soil. The combination of Mucuna bracteata compost and NPK fertilizer affected the growth of cocoa seedlings in Ultisol soil. The fertilizer of 100 g / plant Mucuna bracteata compost and 4 g / plant NPK fertilizer is the best dose for growing cocoa seedlings in Ultisol soil.Keywords: cocoa, Ultisols, Mucuna bracteata, NPK

Abstract

The research aims to determine the response of several varieties of soy (Glycine max (L.) Merril) with the arrangement of distance planting for growth and production and gaining the best varieties and distances. This research has been conducted in the Faculty of Agriculture Plantation University of Riau, campus Bina Widya km 12.5 village Simpang Baru, Tampan district, Pekanbaru city. This research has been conducted from November 2017 to February 2018. Research is conducted experimentally using a group of random plans (RAK), compiled factorial with 2 factors and 3 repeats. The first factor is a variety consisting of V1 (Argomuolyo), V2 (Anjasmoro), V3 (Wilis). The second factor is the arrangement of distances consisting of J1 (40 cm x 15 cm), J2 (40 cm x 20 cm), J3 (40 cm x 25 cm). There are 9 combinations of treatments and each treatment is repeated 3 times, resulting in 27 units of tests. The observed parameters are high crop, root header ratio, dry weight of the plant, flowering plant age, number of main branches, Harvest age, number of righteous pods per plant, number of seeds per plant, weighing 100 seeds, weight of seeds per m2. Data obtained from subsequent observations is analyzed statistically using various fingerprints. The print results were continued with Duncan's multi-distance test at 5%. Results showed that the use of varieties Argomulyo with planting distance 40 cm x 15 cm can increase the growth and production of soy compared with other treatments.Keywords : soybean, varieties, planting space, growth, production

Abstract

Palm oil (Elaeis guineensis Jacq) is an important industrial plant for edible oil, industrial oil,and others. The efforts for getting maximal yield, palm oil companies and small holder farmers use chemical material that affected on reducing of environment quality, such as soil biological properties. The research aim to determine effect of the horn beetle larvae feces (Oryctes rhinoceros L) on density and diversity of soil macrofauna in dish of palm oil plant. The research was conducted at PTPN V Kebun Sei Galuh, Kampar Regency and the Soil Science Laboratory, Agriculture Faculty, Riau University. There were 4 dosage treatments of the horn beetle larvae feces, that are 0, 5, 10, and 15 kg/plant and repeated 4 times. The result showed that the horn beetle larvae feces increased the density and diversity of soil macrofauna. At a dosage of 15 kg/plant showed the highest population density on each month, and the treatment of horn beetle larvae feces at different dosage showed the middle diversity on the each month. Keywords: Palm oil, thehorn beetle larvae,macrofauna,density, diversity
