Abstract

Jatropha multifida L. contains alkaloids, tannins, flavonoids, saponins and phenolic acids that differ from each part of the plant and the content of these substances is what makes L. multifida Jatropha has a function as an antibacterial so that the leaf extract and the gap of chinese distance ( Jatropha multifida L.) allegedly capable of inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The aim of this research was to know the effectivity of leaf extract and gum of Jatropha multifida L. to the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria in vitro.Penelitian used true experimental post test design. Using disc diffusion method with concentration 25; 50; 75; and 100% v / v leaf and gum china distance. Positive control was used Clindamycin 5μg drip antibiotic paper disc. The data were analyzed descriptively. The result of the research showed the difference of different inhibition zone between treatments. In chinese leaf extracts showed different mean diameters, at concentrations of 25%, 50%, 75% with inhibit zone formed respectively 0 mm, 9.32 mm, and 17.48 mm and the highest inhibition zone at concentration of 100% with an average diameter of 22.24 mm. In the gap of chinese distance showed a different mean diameter, at concentrations of 25%, 50%, 75% with the inhibit zone formed respectively 16.08 mm, 18.15 mm, and 18.63 mm and the highest inhibition zone at a concentration of 100% with an average diameter of 21.91 mm. Clindamycin positive controls show an average inhibit zone of 23.31 mm. It was concluded that there was an effect of leaf extract and resin of chinese distance plant (Jatropha multifida L.) on growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, and the best concentration was 100% concentration and almost closer to the inhibitory zone of Clindamycin antibiotics as positive control.

Abstract

The nose has a physiological function for example as a filter that is useful to clean the air of inspiration from dust, bacteria and viruses through a mechanism called the mucociliary transport system (TMS). This TMS mechanism functions to protect the upper and lower respiratory system by forming waves of sweeping on foreign objects such as dust and even microorganisms trapped in the mucous pallets. This study aims to determine whether there are differences in nasal mucociliary transport time in smokers and non-smokers. The material used in this study is sakharin which has a sweetness level 700 times sweeter than ordinary sugar. This study involved 50 research subjects who were divided equally into 2 groups, 25 smokers and 25 non-smokers. All subjects will be interviewed in the form of a questionnaire and then test the time of mucociliary transport of his nose using the sakharin test. The results of this study found that the average mucociliary transport time of the nose to non-smokers was 24.67 ± 5.36 minutes and the mean time of mucociliary transport of the nose to smokers was 9.42 ± 5.04 minutes. Obtained also the results of the average mucociliary transport time of noses in light smokers that is 24.2 ± 5.4 minutes and the average mucociliary transport time of noses in moderate smokers is 27.9 ± 3.94 minutes. It can be concluded that the difference in nasal mucociliary transport time was found in smokers and non-smokers where the mucociliary transport time in smokers was longer.

Abstract

Electronic games or often referred to as online games, have experienced very rapid development and progress. This can be seen in various small cities in all corners of Indonesia, where many game centers have emerged. Even lately, the type and theme of the game that develops leads to the theme of violence that triggers aggressive behavior in adolescents. In addition, as the number of game addicts increases, the number of criminal acts triggered by the game increases. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of addiction to playing games with personality disorders in game players. This research uses observational analytic method with cross sectional design. The research subjects were game players in the Makassar City Game Center which were taken in total sampling. Data is collected using Game Addiction Scale (GAS) questionnaire, Mini International Neurophysciatric Interview (MINI), and game player data sheets. Hypothesis testing the correlation between addiction to playing games with personality disorders was analyzed by the two free sample T Test. Of the 50 gamers in the Game center that were sampled, there were 48 people who experienced personality disorders. Bivariate analysis of addiction to play games associated with personality disorders obtained p value = 0,000, the type of game not related to personality disorders obtained p value = 0.745, and the duration of playing games related to personality disorders obtained p value = 0.001. The conclusion is that there is a relationship between addiction and the duration of playing games with personality disorders. It is recommended not to always use the game so that it does not experience personality disorders.
