Abstract

The objective of this study is to find out the effectiveness of using the mind mapping technique in teaching recount text to increase the students’ writing ability. This research is quasi-experimental as the design that used two group pretest and posttest. It means that there were an experimental class and a controlled class which were given pretest and posttest. There were 37 students of class X of SMAN 12 Makassar as the sample in this study. The instrument of this research was a written test, to score the students’ recount text on pretest and posttest. The result of this research showed that there was a positive effect of the result of students' recount text after using the mind mapping technique. Based on the result of the calculation process the researcher gained that in pretest had a mean of 61,24 and the posttest had a mean of 81.03 of experimental class. Based on the finding of this study, it can be concluded that using mind mapping in teaching recount text is quite a success. And after conducting the research and calculating the data, It could be stated that it was effective of using mind mapping on students' writing of recount text. Students' writing of recount text got a higher score.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' speaking skills by using the discussion method in the eleventh grade students of SMA Tut Wuri Handayani Makassar. This research is a classroom action research (CAR). This research was conducted in two cycles, namely cycle 1 and cycle 2 and each cycle had four meetings. Research in each cycle consists of four steps; planning, action, observation, and reflection. The data in this study uses quantitative (test) as the main data and qualitative as supporting data. The sample in this study was 23 students in class XI MIPA at SMA Tut Wuri Handayani. The results showed that the use of the discussion method succeeded in improving students' speaking skills. This can be seen from the average grade XI MIPA students. The average value in cycle 1 is 69.34 which is categorized as good and the average value in cycle 2 is 78.21 which is categorized as very good. This study shows that the average score in cycle 2 is better than cycle 1. The percentage of students who meet the criteria for completeness also increases. In cycle 1, there were 9 students (39.12%) who met the minimum completeness criteria (KKM). In cycle 2, there were 18 students (78.25%) who met the minimum completeness criteria (KKM). The conclusion of this research is that the Discussion Method can improve student learning outcomes in speaking skills. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan berbicara siswa dengan Menggunakan metode diskusi pada Siswa Kelas Sebelas SMA Tut Wuri Handayani Makassar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK). Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus yaitu siklus 1 dan siklus 2 dan setiap siklus memiliki empat kali pertemuan. Penelitian pada tiap siklus terdiri dari empat Langkah; perencanaan, tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan kuantitatif (tes) sebagai data utama dan kualitatif sebagai data pendukung. Sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 23 siswa di kelas XI MIPA di SMA Tut Wuri Handayani. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan Metode diskusi berhasil meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari nilai rata-rata siswa kelas XI MIPA. Nilai rata-rata pada siklus 1 adalah 69,34 yang dikategorikan baik dan nilai rata-rata pada siklus 2 adalah 78,21 yang dikategorikan sangat baik. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata pada siklus 2 lebih baik dari siklus 1. Persentase siswa yang memenuhi kriteria ketuntasan juga meningkat. Pada siklus 1, terdapat 9 siswa (39,12%) yang memenuhi kriteria ketuntasan minimum (KKM). Pada siklus 2, terdapat 18 siswa (78,25%) yang memenuhi kriteria ketuntasan minimum (KKM). Kesimpulkan penelitian ini adalah Metode Diskusi dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa dalam kemampuan berbicara.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of using the mind mapping method on students' skill to write English texts. This research was a quasi-experimental study with a design using two groups pretest and posttest. There were an experimental class and a control class which were given a pre-test and a post-test. The sample for this research was 72 class X students of SMAN 14 Gawa for the 2022/2023 academic year. The research instrument was a written test The tests were given as a pre-test and post-test in the experimental and control classes to assess students English writing in the pre-test and post-test The research used a scoring rubric, namely an analytical score. This research showed that mean score of pre-test was 59.06 which indicated that the students skill in the pre-test was still very low while the mean score of post-test was 73.86 which indicated that the students writing skill enough improve in the experimental class. The results of the data were analyzed using an independent sample T-test, showing that Sig.(2-tailed) was 0.000 which was lower than 0.05 so that the alternative hypothesis (H.) was accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected the researcher proved that there was an improving of students writing skill through the mind mapping method in teaching writing. The conchision is that the use of the mind mapping method in teaching writing can improve students' skill to write English texts.

Abstract

The implementation of the independent curriculum in the third year of implementation is one of the government's efforts to accelerate the process of improving and transforming education in Indonesia for the better. In its application, of course, it needs to be understood by all learning committees as the main actors implementing the independent curriculum. This community service article describes the results of the implementation of the Learning Committee Training (PKP) for the Implementation of the Independent Curriculum (IKM) in the Learning Committee in two driving schools in Soppeng Regency. The implementation of this PKP goes through four stages, namely: 1) provision of IKM material through real action training, 2) assistance in designing learning, 3) implementation of projects to strengthen the profile of Pancasila students that have been prepared, and 4) feedback or reflection on activities.The results of feedback and monitoring of PKM activities showed that 85% of participants answered very seven related to the presentation of material and discussion was enough to make the understanding of the trainees, 95% of the trainees answered very seventh for their understanding greatly improved after participating in this training activity, and 100% of the trainees answered very seventh on the material presented according to their needs.

Abstract

English competency assistance is one of the main things that a worker must have. The ability to speak English is a basic skill that a person needs in this era of globalization related to the introduction and mastery of science and technology. However, based on the results of observations made at Basarnas Makassar, the English language competency of several employees is still very minimal. The knowledge possessed by human resources in the office is the main factor in the use of English which is still very minimal, and many employees even think that learning English is still not an important thing in employees' careers and duties. Based on these findings, it is very necessary to provide support for the English language competency of Basarnas employees through English language teaching in the office. This community service uses descriptive methods. Based on the results of feedback from this PKM activity, the majority of training participants felt positive things about themselves starting to be confident in using English. So it can be concluded that this PKM activity is going well.
