Abstract

The purpose of this research is to study the mathematical thinking skills of junior high school students in solving mathematical problems by using the Problem Based Learning approach on fractional materials. This study is a class action study conducted in class VII B Junior High School Pasundan Sidamulih. This study is a class action study. The subjects in the study were 22 students, 12 male students, and 10 female students. This study was conducted as many as 2 cycles, accompanied by the provision of pretes and postes.  The data collection technique carried out in this study uses test instruments in the form of pretes and postes, non-test instruments in the form of observation sheets of student and teacher activities. Based on the analysis obtained the average pretest score of 11.95 and the average postes score of 18.45. The data showed an increase in students' mathematical critical thinking skills by 21.74%.

Abstract

This study is the background for errors in solving relationship and function problems. The study with the subject of class VIII students of State Junior High School 3 Cililin aims to describe the level of error carried out by students in solving relationship and function problems, the research methodology used in this study is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, and the data produced in this study comes from the test results given to students with indicators of questions 1) Determining Relationships which are functions,  2) Applying the concepts of relationships and functions, 3) Determining the value of functions, 4) Finding the concept of function relations, 5) Defining relationships and functions. From these results, it was found that the average student error was at a moderate criterion of 65%.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of knowing the mathematics learning model to improve students' critical thinking skills on social arithmetic material. This study aims to describe the effectiveness of the discovery learning model to improve students' critical thinking skills on social artifacts. This study uses a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method. The population of this research is class VII SMPN 6 Cimahi. The sampling technique used sampling technique. Class VII A and VII B research samples. The research instruments used were test questions and observation sheets. The data analysis technique used is prerequisite analysis and hypothesis testing. The results of the research show that the discovery learning model is effective for increasing students' critical thinking skills in social arithmetic material. This is shown through the results of the t-test using the independent sample t-test obtained a significant value at (2-tailed) = 0.012. The results of the t test show that the application of the discovery learning model applied in class VII A causes an increase in students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify the mistakes students made when solving questions on straight line equations material and to find out what are the causative factors of the difficulties students experience when working on solving straight line equations material answers. The subjects of this study were eighth grade students of SMPN 3 Ngamprah and the sample was 25 students. Qualitative descriptive method is the method used in this study. Data obtained from the tests result that have been carried out. The questions given with the level of difficulty are easy, difficult, and very difficult. The results of this study indicate that when students complete the answers to questions, students are not careful in understanding straight-line equations, students are wrong in transforming questions, students make mistakes when carrying out arithmetic operations, students do not master the concept of material in a comprehensive way. broad, the inaccuracy of students when determining the final answer to the question. The low interest of students in learning mathematics and the lack of motivation in learning students are the main factors for mistakes made by students in solving the answers to questions.mathematics so they make many mistakes in answering questions. straight line equation material.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the test results of junior high school students' errors in solving mathematical understanding problems on set material in terms of Nolting's theory, which is a theory that divides into 6 types of errors: misread-directions errors (errors in reading instructions), careless errors (carelessness), concept errors (concept errors), application errors (application errors), test-taking errors (test-taking errors), and study errors (errors in the learning process). The method used in this method is descriptive qualitative with the research subjects of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 1 Parongpong. Data collection was carried out by giving tests as many as 4 description questions and processed using Microsoft Excel.

Abstract

Problem solving abilities play an important role in solving mathematical problems. Problem solving indicators consist of 4 (four), namely: (1) understanding the problem (2) preparing a settlement plan (3) carrying out problem solving (4) re-examining the results of the work. The purpose of this study was to analyze the mathematical problem solving abilities of students on junior high school social arithmetic material. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The research subjects were class VIII students of SMPN 4 Cibinong, totaling 10 people and the research was conducted at SMPN 4 Cibinong. The instrument used in this study was a test about the description of mathematical problem solving abilities of 5 questions. The results of this study are the level of students' problem solving abilities on troubleshooting step 2, 3, and 4 with social arithmetic material which is still relatively low. This data is obtained from the results of the problem-solving ability test according to the indicators.
