Abstract

Abstract

Managing soils is a beneficial effort allowing plants to grow and have dense fruit as well as to avoid them from damaging. Lack of knowledge about soil management may be related to poor soil management performance. To identify differences on farmers knowledge about managing soils based on their educational degree and participation in farmer group organization, this research was conducted on Villages of Sukatani, Cianjur and Wates Jaya, Bogor from November to December 2012. A descriptive method with survey technique was used. Knowledge score using a multiple-choice test was obtained from 89 samples selected by simple random sampling. In prerequisite testing, data was found homogenous but in abnormal distribution. Therefore, the hypothesis testing then was carried out with non-parametric tests. The average comparative rate of farmers knowledge based on educational degree using the Kruskal-Wallis test showed a non significant differences (p > α at 0.393 > 0.05). This occurred because farmers gained the knowledge through parental manner. Similarly, the average comparative rate of farmers knowledge based on their participation in farmers organization using the Mann-Whitney U test also showed a non-significant differences (p > α at 0.770 > 0.05). This happened because the farmers did not receive information delivered by the organization appropriately or they did not use the organization as a source of information in managing the soils. As the conclusion, educational degree and participation in organization did not cause differences to farmers knowledge of soil management.

Abstract

Cual batik is one of the local products of the Bangka Belitung Islands. The expansion of cual batik in Bangka Belitung continues to increase, resulting in an increase in the production of cual batik cloth. Cual batik contains remasol dyes which are carcinogenic so that waste handling is appropriate and safe for the surrounding environment. One of them is using the TiO2 photocatalytic method from ilmenite Bangka. The results of XRF characterization showed that the TiO2 content after magnetic separator and HCl washing reached 69,975% and 77,260%. The results of XRD characterization showed that the optimal temperature of calcination was at 700ºC with the peak diffraction intensity of anatase TiO2 crystals at 2θ 48.9º, 53.53º and 53.92º. In FTIR characterization, there is a functional group spectrum of titanium dioxide (TiO2) at the absorption wave number 795 cm-1 showing Ti-O-Ti stretching vibrations, at wavenumber 2326 cm-1 showing Ti-O stretching vibrations. The results of photodegradation of cual batik waste showed a decrease in the dye content of remazol briliant blue when exposed to UV lamps and sunlight at contact times of 30, 60, and 90 minutes 85.21%, 82,75%, and 86,72% (UV light); 70,75%, 78,92%, and 93.51% (sunlight).

Abstract

Indonesia is currently being shaken by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has infected thousands of people and even died. The government has given an appeal to the community to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus. However, not many people have complied with the government's appeal. Especially in Srimenanti Village, very few people know how dangerous the COVID-19 virus is. Therefore it is necessary to understand the health protocol for breaking the COVID-19 chain. Based on these problems, the authors carry out community service through Real Work Lecture (KKN) activities with the theme COVID-19, the method used to support public safety against COVID-19, namely in the form of distribution of masks and hand sanitizers also educating the public about COVID-19. The results show that people who previously did not care about the pandemic are currently progressing and are more concerned about themselves and those around them. Evidenced by always using a mask and hand sanitizer when leaving the house.
