Abstract

Providing English learning material with developing reading E-Module Based on Langkat Sultanate History is important as English Department Study of STKIP Al-Maksum Langkat. This research aims to develop Reading e-Module Based on Langkat Sultanate History, to increase students’ awareness about Langkat Sultanate History and to promote local wisdom at Langkat District. This research is concerned with the development of an English reading e-Module for students of the English department study of STKIP Al-Maksum by applying the four phase Research and Development (R & D) proposed by Gall, Gall & Borg (2003). At the define stage, first, the author decides to create the requirements to create the e-Module following the need analysis. Furthermore, at the design stage, the author creates the initial design (prototype) e-Module. The results of the study show that the module that has been developed is valid, practical and effective. The validity of the module reaches a valid category based on the expert’s and validator’s evaluation. It is hoped that they will be able to continue to raise local culture or local wisdom in Indonesia as a learning module to preserve Indonesian culture for students.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to find out the significant difference before and after the students being treated by classroom interaction strategy in speaking class. The researcher used quantitative method and pre experimental design to analyze research problem. This study was conducted to the second grade students of SMAN 6 Binjai on 21th July until 5th August 2020. The data were collected through a speaking test, the test was consists of expressed argumentative text. Firstly, students had to express their opinions about the phenomenon surrounding without being given treatment. In this test, the researcher gave the topic about social media. Secondly, the students expressed their opinions after treatment. The treatment was the researcher teach the students how to expressing opinion, asking other people’s opinion and saying agreement. The test was given to measure the students’ speaking skill after treatment. The researcher investigated the data and collected the score pre- test and post-test based on the scoring system. In analyzing the data, the researcher calculated the data used t-test, the researcher checked the normality of the data using Liliefors test to find out whether the distribution of data was normal, and so the researcher used t-test to clarify whether or not his hypothesis is accepted. The research findings showed that was a difference before and after the students being treated classroom interaction in speaking class. The result of the data showed that = 8,374 was greater than = 2,924. It proved that the result of post-test was better than the result of pre-test. In order to find out the significance of the improvement between pre-test and post-test, t-test was applied. After having the test of significance, the result of pre-test showed that the average score of pre-test was 67. Whereas, the averages score of post-test were 73. From the data showed, the result of the post-test in speaking test was better than the result of pre-test. From the result, it could be concluded that there are the significance of the improvement from pretest and post-test Keywords: classroom interaction, speaking skill

Abstract

This research aims to explore the implementation of language learning evaluation and assessment in the Independent Curriculum at Al Maksum Vocational High School (SMK), especially in language subjects. The data collection method involves observation and interviews, with a focus on the evaluation model used, assessment methods, and the obstacles teachers face in the evaluation and assessment process. The results of interviews with six language teachers showed variations in evaluation forms, such as written tests, presentations, group discussions, and projects. The main obstacles faced include time constraints, lack of training, and technological barriers during online learning. As innovations, the use of technology in assessment, project-based learning, and adaptive learning are proposed to increase the effectiveness of evaluation and assessment. This research contributes to understanding the dynamics of evaluation and assessment in language learning in the context of an independent curriculum, with implications for improving the quality of learning at Al Maksum Vocational School.

Abstract

Dalam era komunikasi saat ini, bahasa Inggris memiliki peran yang sangat penting dalam komunikasi, baik di tingkat internasional maupun nasional. Kemampuan berbahasa Inggris menjadi vital dalam berbagai konteks, termasuk kerja sama dengan pihak asing. Namun, relawan dari Komunitas Peduli Anak dan Sungai Deli (KOPASUDE) menghadapi kendala dalam berbicara bahasa Inggris, yang dapat menyebabkan kesalahpahaman dan hambatan dalam kerjasama. Untuk mengatasi masalah ini, dilakukan pengabdian masyarakat berupa pelatihan penguasaan kosakata (vocabulary) dan simulasi percakapan dalam bahasa Inggris (English Conversation) dengan menggunakan metode Audiolingual. Hasil dari pelatihan ini menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam kemampuan berbicara bahasa Inggris para relawan KOPASUDE yang berkaitan dengan pekerjaan mereka. Selain itu, pelatihan vocabulary juga membantu mereka menguasai kosakata yang relevan dengan lapangan kerja. Program ini juga melibatkan aktivitas sosial untuk anak-anak binaan KOPASUDE, yang membantu mengembangkan kreativitas dan minat mereka dalam bidang lingkungan dan keberlanjutan. Hasil dari kegiatan ini mencakup video dokumentasi, penggunaan bahasa Inggris oleh relawan di lokasi kerja, artikel PKM yang terpublikasi, dan pengembangan keterampilan dari bahan daur ulang. Dalam konteks pengabdian kepada masyarakat, perlu terus memberikan pelatihan dan dukungan dalam bahasa Inggris kepada relawan KOPASUDE dan masyarakat binaan. Evaluasi dan pemantauan berkala juga diperlukan untuk mengukur dampak program dan melakukan perbaikan jika diperlukan. Dengan upaya berkelanjutan dan pemantauan yang baik, diharapkan program ini akan terus memberikan manfaat positif bagi relawan KOPASUDE dan masyarakat yang mereka bantu dalam upaya membangun lingkungan yang lebih baik dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Pelatihan Penyusunan Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran Berdasarkan Kurikulum 2013 Revisi Kepada Mahasiswa/I Semester VII STKIP Al Maksum Langkat bertujuan untuk: 1. Melatih Mahasiswa/I Semester VII STKIP Al Maksum Langkat Menyusun Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajan Kurikulum 2013 Revisi, 2. Melatih Mahasiswa/I Semester VII STKIP Al Maksum Langkat menyusun analisis keterkaitan SKL, KI, dan KD, keterkaitan KD, Indikator, Tujuan Pembelajaran dan Materi, Penerapan Model Pembelajaran, dan Penilaian Hasil Belajar untuk merancang penyusunan RPP K-13 Revisi dengan pembelajaran berbasis Penguatan Pendidikan Karakter, Gerakan Literasi Nasional, Pembelajaran HOTS, dan menggunakan Strategi 4C (Creativity, Critical Thingking, Communication, Collaboration) dalam upaya meningkatkan mutu pendidikan, dan 3. Mensimulasikan RPP yang sudah dibuat di kelas. Mahasiswa/I Semester VII STKIP Al Maksum Langkat mendapat Pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam penyusunan Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP) Kurikulum K13 Revisi dan mensimulasikan didepan kelas dengan teman sejawatnya. Pelatihan penyusunan Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP) Kurikulum 2013 Revisi yang mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai karakter, Kecakapan Berfikir Tingkat Tinggi atau Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), dan kecakapan abad 21 menujukkan gambaran bahwa para mahasiswa/I semester VII STKIP Al-Maksum yang hadir sangat antusias mengikuti dan mengamati, mahasiswa/I semester VII STKIP Al Maksum mensimulasikan perangkat-parangkat yang dibuatnya sendiri didepan kelas, dengan menerapkan metode ceramah, tanya jawab, dan tutorial sehingga mendapatkan pengalaman dan pengetahuan baru bagi mahasiswa/I semester VII STKIP Al-Maksum tersebut.
