Abstract

Background: Hypertension remains a major public health problem globally. This disease is also one of the public health challenges in Indonesia. One of the health programs to promote health and maintaining controlled blood pressure among patients with hypertension is by optimizing the utilization of “the Chronic Disease Management Program” or “Program Pengelolaan Penyakit Kronis (Prolanis)”, and one of the interventions is exercise activities. This study aims to analyze factors associated with participation in the Prolanis exercise program and its impact on participants’ blood pressure. Method: This study uses a cross-sectional design with  a sample of 106 patients with hypertension in two Community Health Centers (Puskesmas Lhoknga and Puskesmas Darul Imarah Aceh Besar). Data were collected by interview and observation of blood pressure. Data were analyzed univariate and bivariate using chi-square with significance p0.05 and unpaired t-test. Results: Chi-square analysis shows the relationship between knowledge (p-value:0.034), positive attitude (p-value 0.011), family support (p-value:0.018), self-motivation (p-value:0.022), health worker roles (p-value:0.032), and participation of Prolanis exercise program. Meanwhile, unpaired t-test analysis shows significant differences  betweenmean values of blood pressure among patients with hypertension who participated and not participated in Prolanis exercise program. Recommendation: The Prolanis Exercise program has a significance impact in controlling blood pressure in hypertensive patients. It is recommended that health workers and health promotion staffs  at Community Health Centers to promote and maintain the implementation of Prolanis exercise program, as well as support patients to join and actively participate in the program.

Abstract

Background: Neonatal mortality is one of the focuses of world health problems, one of the goals of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The neonatal mortality rate in Indonesia was higher than in 2 Asian countries such as Thailand and Malaysia in 2014. The neonatal mortality rate in NTT Province is quite high, at 26/1000 live births, compared to the national rate of 20/1000 live births. This study aim to determine the relationship between early neonatal death 0-7 days in NTT and several influencing determinants. Method: This study used a descriptive-analytical method with a case-control design. The data used are secondary data by AIPMNH (Australian International Partnership of Maternal and Neonatal Health). The population in this study were all neonates born in NTT Province from 220 villagesand70 health centers, consist of 154 cases, and 308 controls. Sampling using the case-control study formula was then grouped into ages 0-7 days so that 114 were obtained as case groups and 228 as control groups. Data collection was carried out for 9 months from January 1 to September 31, 2013, processed and presented in 2015 using a questionnaire through interviews, then the existing secondary data was reprocessed by researchers with different variables in 2018. Data analysis used the Logistic Regression test with the STATA 13 program. Results: The results of the study obtained variables related to Poverty (OR=2.12; P=0.006), Complications During Pregnancy (OR=3.41; P=0.003), Complications During Birth (OR=3.89; P=0.000), Having a Disease During Pregnancy (OR=1.61; P=0.091), Gravida (OR=2.88; P=0.014), Abortion (OR=2.27; P=0.056), IMD (OR=9.69; P=0.000), Place of Birth (OR=5.23; P=0.000), and Health Services (OR=5.23; P=0.000). Furthermore, based on the multivariate analysis of IMD (OR=8.71; P=0.000), Pregnancy Complications (OR=2.97; P=0.040), and Poverty (OR=2.16; P=0.041) are the most influential factors in early morning neonatal deaths in the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) region. Recommendation: It is expected that the Leader (Governor) of NTT Province and NTT Central Health Officers will provide more counseling and guidance to mothers to increase their knowledge about pregnancy and neonatal.

Abstract

Background: Anxiety in pregnant women can arise, especially in the third trimester of pregnancy until delivery. During this period, pregnant women feel anxious about various things, such as whether the baby is born normally or not, and the pain that will be felt. As the delivery schedule approaches, especially in the first pregnancy, it is normal for feelings of anxiety to arise. Anxiety during pregnancy can lead to depression due to fear or even trauma if there are problems during labor so that the mother does not want to give birth again. Therefore there is a need to study the behavior of pregnant women in the third trimester with their level of anxiety when facing childbirth in the working area of the Tangse Health Center. Method: This research was conducted using a descriptive- analytical method using a cross- sectional design. The population in this study was 459 pregnant women who were in the working area of the Tangse Health Center. Sampling used purposive sampling technique with a total sample of 80 respondents. Results: The results showed that 24.4% of pregnant women considered themselves not anxious, with 59.8% mild anxiety and 14.6% moderate anxiety. The results of the bivariate analysis show that there is no significant relationship between maternal age (p-value 1.000), maternal education (p-value 0.849), maternal knowledge (p-value 0.196), antenatal care visits (p-value 0.934), and husband's support. (p-value 0.055) with anxiety in facing childbirth in the working area of the Tangse Health Center, Pidie Regency. Recommendation: It is hoped that future researchers will be able to conduct research related to suggestion therapy in pregnant women, and for health workers, it is hoped that  health workers will further increase the provision of health information (counseling) regarding pregnancy, especially to primigravida mothers.

Abstract

Background: Smoking is a major risk factor against the burden of disease in the world. The large number of coffee stalls found in Banda Aceh is one of the causes of the high number of smokers, so it shows that coffee and cigarettes are inseparable. The purpose of this research is to find out the factors that affect smokers in stopping smoking habit in the coffee shop in Banda Aceh in 2019. Methods: This research is analytical observational, using Cross Sectional design. The research site at coffee shops in Banda Aceh was conducted in August 2019. The samples in this study were active smokers. The data was analyzed with a logistic regression test using Stata 13. Result: The results showed that the percentage of respondents who mad efforts to quit smoking was 72.19%. Bivariate analysis shows that there is a link between the number of cigarettes per day that is heavy (p=0.003), medium (p=0.005) and severe (p=0.026) with smoking cessation efforts, while the variable age, the first age of smoking, marital status, income, education, anxiety, alcohol consumption, knowledge, smoking time lag in the morning, and other smokers influences in the family environment has no relationship with quitting smoking. Multivariate analysis shows that the association to quitting smoking is in the in the variable number of cigarettes per day in the moderate, heavy, and severe categories. Conclusion: The most dominant variables that has a connection to smoking cessation is the heavy, moderate and severeamount of cigarettes per day.
